I have a friend who is married to a nutritionist, so when he picks the place to eat, he favors fried chicken. Tumble 22 is one of his go-to's. The pluses of this place: The chicken is really good, both on the bone or in tenders or sandwiches. The OG sandwich is for a big stomach, be warned, but it is delicious. Nashville hot chicken has a real spectrum of heat, so work your way up until you get to the level you're comfortable with. The selection of sides are country favorites, and the broccoli salad I tried last night is the only one I didn't care for. The pies are outstanding, and they are advertised as complimentary. The minuses: The waitstaff is consistently undermanned. The group of tables we use when we go there is served by the bartender, so when the bar is busy service is slow. Likewise, they have a drive-through window and so the kitchen can get backed up. Last night, it took 20 minutes between ordering and getting our food. Finally, they have a Korean hot chicken variant, which is not very close to good Korean hot chicken and they should stick to Nashville hot. Hint: park in the adjoining lot. We went to tumble on a Friday night and it was super busy, but the food still came out in a reasonable amount of time! As the only person in my family that doesn't eat meat (poultry, beef, pork) this salad had a really tasty Caesar dressing, pumpkin seeds, and cranberries that complimented the salad very well. My only gripe is they put a absurd amount of cranberries, so if you get this - ask for light cranberries if your not a fan. The fries were the perfect combination of crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. My fiance said the chicken was fresh and had good flavor! My kids loved their chicken as well! The frozen marg is something I could pass on but they have a full bar if you're into something else. Service was good, he checked on us very often and when we told him that it was our first time, he gave us a free slice of chocolate pie. IT WAS SO GOOD! Came here on St. Patrick's day for dinner and the drink specials and our food was amazing as per usual but the service was not the best. We ordered our margaritas before ordering our food and it took about an hour for us to get them. We had fully finished eating our food and wanted to ask our server to just cancel the drink order but we didn't see her for a long time and then she eventually brought them to us. We had a sudden craving for good ol' fried chicken this morning while we were in Cedar Park to lock in the deal on our new Land Cruiser at the Toyota dealership, and Hubby suggested this place. It did not disappoint! The Heavenly Eggs were just that. Just so, so good! That candied bacon is everything! Hubby went with the OG sandwich with a side of collard greens, and he loved all of it! He wasn't sure about the bread and butter pickles at first, but, after he took his first bite, he was sold! That was an incredible sammy! I went with the 1/2 Chicken with sides of mac & cheese and broccoli salad, knowing that I was definitely going to bequeath my honey most of it, as I was already full up on those insanely tasty eggs! Early dinner at Tumble 22...we had the bone-in chicken - white and dark meat combos along with sides of collard greens, broccoli salad and ranch beans. The chicken has several levels of heat and 5 sauces (honey dipped, bbq, comeback sauce, ranch, and honey mustard). We are a little wimpy with heat so we went with painless (lowest level) and hot (next level up). Chicken was crispy outside and moist inside. Second time at this location, and was very happy with all aspects of my lunch. Got here after the regular lunch rush, only two people I could see holding down the fort (one server/hostess, one bartender). They were running the place like champs, had no issues with quality or speed of service despite the number of staff. Order/drinks came out quick, server checked on me multiple times, and I could see the bartender coming out from behind the bar working some tables as well. Food was tasty as always, but with my usual Austin dining luck, next table over had a LPGO (Loud Professional Gassing On) desperately trying to impress his companion with his boardroom exploits. We initially went to a fast food chicken restaurant because we were going to watch a movie and wanted a quick meal. The restaurant; however, was closed and lucky for us we decided to try Tumble 22. We walked in and was pleasantly surprised at how nice and roomy it was inside. Our served, Cher, was AMAZING. She welcomed us and upon learning it was our FIRST time visiting, she explained the menu extensively and brought us 3 nuggets that were spiced mild, hot, and 'mo hot. She also brought some sauce samples. We decided on the 'mo hot as it had a good kick to it. We wanted to save room for popcorn at the movies, so ordered an 8 count chicken bite meal with honey mustard and ranch dipping sauces. We also ordered the collard greens and broccoli salad. I ordered water for my drink and Man Crush ordered sweet tea. When our order came, a plate was plopped in front of us and the server (not Cher) walked away. We noticed it was the 3 piece strip meal not the bites. We didn't touch them but ate our sides and waited for Cher to come back. The broccoli salad was amazing! It had a good heat to it. The collard greens were nice and hot (temp wise) and good but probably wouldn't order again. Cher checked on us and we told her we ordered the chicken bites and she said she'd check on that. She brought us the chicken bites and when we tried to pass the chicken strips back to her she said to keep them. We politely declined and she said it would just be thrown away so we kept them. Yeah, that was disappointing. For having spent close to $70, including a tip. We had 3 sandwiches, all OGs: one French onion, one plain, and one Korean BBQ. I had placed the order online through the Tumble22 website. The Korean BBQ is $1 more than the regular OG, which makes sense. Until you get it. It's a tiny thigh, and none of the online information mentions a thigh. Note, the Southern explicitly calls out a thigh, which we had ordered before and never since, since it was disappointing too. Now, you would expect you to call, talk to a manager, and he says: "I am sorry, the website is confusing. I can understand that". However, the guy I talked to, claiming to be the owner, was insisting that it clearly says it's a thigh. I was apparently too dumb to read based on how he acted. So, we argued back and forth for a while, and he just did not even bother to look at the website and instead insisted it said "thigh". Eventually, we were no longer interested in a resolution, and I hung up. This is what you model as the owner of a customer-facing business? The answer should be, " I am sorry that we got that wrong. It should have said 'thigh' the way it does on the printed menu. How can I make it right?" The only reason why I give it 2 stars is that the other items in the order were actually good. Oh yes, the order was also missing the 2nd order of fries. I guess that also answers why the dining room was largely empty. That happens when private equity firms own restaurants. First time at the Cedar Park location, and it has definitely left an unfortunate taste in our mouth. Did a substantial drive through order for Sunday football, and drove 20 minutes home before we realized none of our sides/or the 1/2 chicken order were completed correctly. The packing job was mediocre as well, not sure if dining in carries a better experience. It also took us a good while/few calls to get on the phone with the manager, who did refund us for half the order; which we did appreciate. However, the food just didn't do it justice for $50+. Love me some Tumble 22! The food has never failed and I've been AT LEAST 25 times. Girlfriend got the broccoli salad side dish a couple of months ago - I was reluctant to fall for it. Whoa it's good. Mac&chz is mine and my son's usual. The wings are large, crispy and I've always been super pleased with them. Chocolate toffee pie is fantastic! Beer is cold and chilled glasses are a great touch. Service can be spotty - so I started sitting at the bar. Way more consistent service and near the tvs. I will say - the past couple of months, the restaurant is FREEEEEZING. I look around and people are either bundled up or trying to stay warm - so I always bring my hoodie with me. Place is getting a little dirty & could use some maintenance. Always one of the best happy hours in town, and Nick is the best bartender in Cedar Park. The food is always stellar, the service is friendly, and the place itself is clean and fun. I've been to Tumble 22 on Burnet and in Round Rock and the service never disappoints. Can't say the same about the Cedar Park location. We sat in the outdoor area, checked in with the host who brought over our menus and said she'd send a server over. Saw three servers (including the manager) serve other tables even though they noticed us, and never came to take our order. Waited over 10 mins, while a couple came in and had their drinks and order taken within 2mins (the restaurant had a few tables but was not overly busy). Let the manager know and left without eating. The food here is always really good. And they always deliver on the chicken. It's always so crispy and tender. I always find it amusing that they serve you as a sit down restaurant when the layout is of a fast food restaurant. There's something about ordering your drink, only to watch your server walk over to the open access soda fountain a few feet away and fill up the cups. One complaint I did have though, was that we ordered the 1/4 dark that comes with two sides. So we chose Szechuan fries and mac n cheese. However when the dish came out, it just had two orders of szechuan fries. When we corrected them and said it was supposed to have mac n cheese, they did eventually bring it out but they just added it on to out bill separately. In terms of food we ordered, it was correct. Arrived a little early (8.00) and were told to wait in the drive through spot. I ordered deviled eggs, 2 tenders (level 1 heat) with Comeback Sauce, and baked beans. Everything was really good. Deviled Eggs were very good with a piece of extra crispy, melt in your mouth bacon, tenders were fresh, hand breaded and cooked just right (with really good dipping sauce). Tried this place because our son raves about it. Glad we took his advice and tried it. One of the best places for chicken strips. The chicken is full of flavor and very juicy. The mac n cheese is also very flavorful and seemingly made with hatch chili or something similar. I don't think the mac is spicy despite having some kind of chili pepper in it (unless you are someone who finds black pepper too spicy) Very filling! The fingers are massive, especially compared to like Cane's. Pricing is a tad steep unless you come during Happy Hour (dine in only) The servers have always been attentive and friendly. We went last month and they had just updated the menu. Our server was very young, but he was extremely polite and made our whole experience as great as it was.
