My partner and I went in because his bag needed a repair. We entered close to closing and it was still pretty busy. We weren't greeted and were ignored by the sales associates for the first few minutes. Both of them were assisting other shoppers at the time and seemed to be giving them a lot of attention, but it was very frustrating to be ignored. When I did approach one of the sales associates, he told me he was with someone else and would be with us shortly. I understand, but it feels like it is customer service 101 to at least greet customers and check in with them at least once within five minutes of entering the store. It took about ten minutes for one of the associates to wrap up the transaction and help us with their repair. She thanked us for waiting and quickly helped us with the repair form. Overall not a bad experience, but the wait was definitely the most frustrating aspect. read more

I just love this place, the staff here are so nice and I felt so welcome the minute I walked in. The location is on Michigan Avenue, 645 N Michigan Ave to be exact. I truly love the quality of the product, and the bags Are MADE TO LAST. If you ever need to return anything or have it repaired they are quick to say yes and try to help as best as they can. I've even had a replacement before because it was unfixable. Who does that anymore? This is a must visit especially if you're going on trips or going to travel soon. They have amazing accessories and a women's/men's variety as far as colors and different sizes with each piece of luggage. Thomas was very helpful, letting me try on a bag, looking up colors, and even pulling a few other options that might meet my criteria. I ended up with the Patricia Voyager. The size is perfect for everyday carrying. It's not overwhelming and large like so many others on the market, so I won't feel like I'm setting off on an expedition. My husband and I experienced a house fire, and the Tumi suitcase, briefcase, and toiletry bag that he uses every week were damaged by smoke and water. The smell was awful. Ridicuously poor experience and a lack of follow-up from Tumi customer support. Have a bag, Ashton double-zip, hate it. Quality of the product is poor, poor capacity and starting to show wear after only 2.5 weeks of use. To name a few complaints - 1) Very low capacity.  Tough to have a laptop and a few key files comfortably.  Forget about a water bottle, not a chance.   2) Bulky.  Strange given the low capacity, just a really poor design 3) HEAVY.  This bag is much heavier than past bags I have had.  Drags on my shoulder and is difficult to carry around for any reasonable amount of time without shoulder pain.  I walk 15 minutes back and forth daily, never had this problem in the past 4) Shoulder strap too short.  I have it extended as far as it can go.  I'm 6 ft, 4 in.  It is slamming my back the whole time 5) Wear and tear.  Been using this for 2.5 weeks, already, strangely, already showing some signs of wear 6) Dangerous zippers.  I don't understand this one at all, the zippers are very sharp, already got cut by one.  Pretty ridiculous, I know, but it happened when I was looking for a clip Owned a Tumi product several years ago, quality was MUCH MUCH better, Customer Service was as well. My wife's luggage retractable handle broke during United's baggage handling. Apparently these retractable handles are not covered under luggage handling damage by United (Seriously? Yup.). Anyways, I dropped by this store to check whether they could get it fixed since I knew their luggage had a 5 year warranty. I was told it would take a few weeks to fix it (sending to Tumi to fix, etc.) We were headed for a long international vacation soon so I was contemplating whether I should get it fixed or use it with a broken handle... This was when the staff (Male) offered to do an exchange for my luggage with a small top up (like $50) for the price difference so that I could get a brand new luggage on the spot and use it for our upcoming trip. The particular luggage we had was an older model that was discontinued so I was offered a newer model (which came with a brand new 5 year warranty). It was very nice of them to offer this exchange so that we could go about our vacation with a working handle. Awesome bags. We came here recently for a his and hers Valentines bag day and are both very happy with our bag purchases. Why not the 5 stars? Well we had to order my bag because they didn't have it in stock. Additionally they didn't ever let me know the status of my order as I had to call repeatedly and check up on it. Several years ago, a Tumi briefcase I had purchased back in California had lost several of its zipper pulls. I brought it into the Chicago Tumi store, and they replaced the missing zipper pulls for free. They also monogrammed my briefcase. This month, I went back to look at international size carry-on bags. Again, the clerks were knowledgeable and helpful. And they monogrammed my new Tumi bag using their monogram machine. I bought a Tumi Bag (T3) and no surprise it was not a cheap bag but based upon Tumi's reputation and the promise that they stand behind their products I invested in this bag. Well the bag has started to curl in on itself and is almost un-usable. I called Tumi and they told me to take it into a Tumi Store and have them send it in to the corporate office. I brought the bag back to the Tumi Store and I was told that the curling was normal for the bag. I still had them send it into corporate. Then I got a call from corporate and was told that even though the bag was curling in on itself and was un-usable the problem was the way I stored the bag not with the the bag itself. I asked them how could this happen? I didn't store the bag at all. They then said that they would not replace the bag that it was my problem. As a frequent Tumi consumer, I was HIGHLY disappointed. They have officially lost our business. My husband and I went in this TUMI location to return a gift that he was given in February. Unfortunately, given the circumstances, we only had the return slip, with the UPS tracking #, shipping address, payment info etc. As it turns out, they were unable to find the order in their system. hummmmm, not sure how that is possible given all the information is on the Delivery Note and Return Slip... The price tag read 800 dollars. However, because this specific piece of luggage was now on sale, for 400 dollars, the woman helping stated they were only wiling to give us the 400 dollars, not the full 800 which was what it was purchased as in January. The return slip clearly states it was purchased 1/24/17, when the full price was 800. None of the staff seemed concerned, none were helpful, no manager came to speak with us. We were given blank stares. My husband and I were in awe, we left dazed and confused on what had happened. No longer will TUMI get our business. We will take our business elsewhere, shame on you TUMI!! read more

I was shopping at another store a few doors down on Michigan Avenue for a new purse, but didn't find what I liked. I wouldn't normally have gone to Tumi for a purse, but I saw a few in the window that I liked. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful, and brought out purses from the back in other colors that weren't on display. I spent quite a bit of time there, and as I was leaving, realized that they had stayed 30 minutes past their close time. They offered advice on cleaning and maintenance of the purse that I really appreciated and I've received TONS of compliments on my Tumi purse. read more
