my tummy is stuffed. i came in, slightly overwhelmed with al line sandwich choices. but naturally my eyes fw axed to the steak sandwich. i was looking for something sauce-y, a hot sandwich. something heavy. and i found just the one i go number 43. the steak and mushroom grilled onion cherry pepper cheeese and meat sauss o m g it is so good just the right amount of sauce and savory and meat but not too much where i feel really gross. honestly the bread was so pillowy and soft it made the whole sandwich land in my so snugly. and the service was nice and friendly. i'm really excited to bring my dad here some day this place is definitely a future go-to for friday lunches! tummy = stuffed. read more

Unfortunately I have to say this is the last time I'll come until I hear they've changed back to their old ways. I've worked up the street from this place for a long time so at least every few months I make a visit as a treat to myself (used to be once a week, but I moved closer to work and don't eat out as much). A friend was telling me that they had a bad experience here last week and I couldn't believe it since this place has been awesome for more than a decade now. She today, I feel like treating myself on lunch, and decided to check it out. My friend's story was that he ordered a 98, which is a turkey bacon avocado, and regulars of the place know it, since it's been featured on the left side of menu board for years. This was at about 2 in the afternoon, he said. He waited 20 minutes for the sandwich, and when he got back to work, there was no bacon. I couldn't believe it. Not the Tummy Stuffers I know and love. The only complaint I've ever had about this place is the long line during lunch hour. I thought maybe he ordered the special that was on the board for years which was a turkey avocado sandwich combo and just didn't realize. I thought maybe they we're just getting reset from the lunch rush. So with all the doubts in my mind I head in today. The 98 is my go to too, so I plan on getting that. I walk in around noon, and luckily there's only two groups in front of me. No complaints about the line today. Then it all starts to go wrong. 5 minutes in line and no one has moved. The group of guys at the front is having some complications ordering maybe. I hear the girl that's worked the counter for years yell about phone orders coming in and some one comes to help. They take an order and the group of guys gets their order done with the original cashier. The original cashier grabs the phone to take an order. Two people are now at the front taking phone orders. That's cool. They've probably been on hold for a while. They get off the phones and the next group of people move up to put in their order with the cashier that's no longer on the phone whole the other completes punching in a phone order on the machine. The live people get their order in, and the phone starts ringing again. Apparently the phone takes precedence over people in the store here now. Rather than saying please hold, the cashier takes the order. This person on the phone has effectively cut me in line. Another call pops up and they get to cut too. Finally I get to order. I've been in line for about 10 minutes at this point with only two live orders in front of me. I get my 98 combo, pay on their garish new POS that requests a tip (no tip for you), and go to wait. 15 minutes later I get my sandwich. The wait sucks, but I'm willing to let it slide. I did come in at noon, and there are people sitting and likely waiting for their food. I get home with my food, unwrap my sandwich and notice that the paper is wetter than usual. I open it up and see why. Yup. They've also forgotten the bacon on my sandwich, so the pickles that would normally be covered by a slice of bacon are exposed to the wrapper. Just like my friend said happened to him. Im not going back now, I already waited 25 minutes for a sandwich and I only get an hour for lunch, so I bite in. This isn't Tummy Stuffers. The bread is drier than I remember. Probably a new vendor. The mushed up avocado that is normally spread evenly across the bread is in a giant clump in the middle. The macaroni salad is a different brand, (although at may have changed before this new Tummy Stuffers). It was so sweet that I couldn't eat it, and is likely just the Reese's brand stuff you get in a giant tub at the super market. Incredibly disappointing. I've seen another post that says that the old owners sold the place, and I'm guessing that's true. They have uniforms now, the new POS, and no one in the back was familiar. I'm giving 2 stars for the previous quality of the place, and the hope that they return to that glory, but compared to that previous 4 or 5 star sandwich they'd get a 1 now for the mistakes not just with my order, but my friend's previous order, and what seems to be a complete change in quality. If they're coasting by on previous glories then I think people need to know of the changes, so that if they're like me, and haven't been in a while they know it's not the same place anymore, and can decide whether it's worth it to wait 20-25 minutes for something they may have liked before, but won't like now. read more

I have seen this place since i moved to Riverside... and we finally tried it today...and we were very disappointed...could have gone without trying it. We bought a few sandwiches and we were asked what kind of bread and size...don't understand why they ask what size if its sandwich sliced bread? Also we live like 8 minutes away tops and the bread was SOGGY...like if they dipped the slices in water and then made the sandwich...it was disgusting. First time today and as someone that works part-time at a reputable deli in the I.E., my standards are high. I was not intending on eating a sandwich on my lunch, but I was Yelping as I was driving down Iowa. I got to Columbia and decided I should perhaps turn around and go back towards Zorba's. Before I did that I refreshed my search as I was in the U-turn lane and viola Tummy Stuffer on my right. I maneuvered and got to their parking lot. Not the best curb appeal, and I can see how it is "hidden" or "set back from the road" like some other reviews state. I did not read any reviews on this place prior to walking in and ordering. I was going off of stars and shit I just spent 15 minutes driving and deciding what I wanted.. 30 minutes left of my lunch.. When I walked in there was already a couple people inside. Promising right? First impression, there is plenty of room for you and your co-workers here. The wall-size menu was pretty impressive. Steak sandwiches, hmm, ok!! Many different varieties of each type of sandwich makes it easy for the picky eater. I am not a picky eater.. I ordered steak sandwich with onions, peppers, and mushrooms, and added cheese. I ordered a large because I was feeling extra, new spot, why not right? The size is there for sure.. The counter girl informed me that they add tomato, pickle and onion to their sandwiches.. I said that was fine. My suggestion is to let the new customers know that it is a relish like mixture as in: diced tomoto, dill pickle, and diced onion.. but wait.. there was already onion coming on my sandwich, right? I waited a normal amount of time for the customer flow.. 5-10 minutes.. heard my number and went and grabbed my food. I got in the car and eyeballed my food... surprised really..as it didn't look, or smell like anything special. I will not argue size of my sandwich.. I will argue flavor of the meat in it as well as the cold to hot vegetables on it. All around the second half was better than the first because the cheese had time to melt..(yes, they didn't make sure this was done on the meat before building the sandwich) as well as any juice was finally soaked up.. Second half, two bites in, I realize they wrapped my sandwich knowing the bottom half of the bread was already broken or compromised making my sandwich do an epic FLOP on my lap.. thanks for that, and yes, it was still wrapped in paper so it was not my error in handling.. None the less, I will give this place another try considering today may not have been THE DAY.. The pictures of the cold sandwiches look good and stuffed as they should be. So, perhaps that is what I should order next time..Hopefully, they don't forget the bacon on a turkey, bacon, avocado because those are normally my jam. Let's try for a 4- or even better, 5-stars next time guys!! read more

The boyfriend and I caravaned yesterday from Vegas to San Diego, and when we got to Riverside, I opened the yelp app and this was the coolest name with good ratings and not some waiter-service place near the next exit. They have "101 sandwiches" on the menu, but it is more like 1. Roast Beef 2. Roast Beef and Cheese 3. Roast Beef, Cheese, and Onions so it is 101 by topping amount. Prices are cheap!!! I got the sandwich of the week which included chips and drink in price, turkey avocado 8 inch. You can get shredded lettuce, diced pickles (cool idea!), diced onion, diced tomato, mayo, and mustard for free - I went with lettuce, pickles and tomato. Avocado was yummy and fresh. I put some jalepeno chips in my sandwich for crunch. The boy had 12 inch tuna avocado and liked his. When we got here, the place was packed, and a line out the door, but when we left it was suddenly empty. A hot spot for nearby businesspeople, construction workers, and the hungry lost soul. Industrial area with lots of streets torn up. I once has a teriyaki sandwich and the meat was so salty I couldn't bare it anymore and had to throw it away after 4 bites. Every time I come to Tummy Stuffer I order the turkey, bacon and avocado (spread) sandwich (yes to mayo, lettuce, pickles, onions and tomato). The beauty of this sandwich is in its simplicity (the ingredients all previously listed go into bread). That avocado spread is slightly tangy and so buttery. I do wish it was chunkier, because I'm a HUGE fan of avocado, but either way, it is tasty. I'm also a huge fan of shredded lettuce, and they use it at Tummy Stuffer. The bacon is crispy and crunchy (not rubbery at all); also done the way I like it (hey, it's like this place was made just for me or something!) The tomato, pickles and onions are cubed and tossed inside the sandwich (which, surprise, surprise, I'm also a fan of). Although they offer 101 Sandwiches, I always find myself ordering the turkey, bacon and avocado. It's a simple sandwich that I can't get enough of. read more

I agree with all the reviewers that they have a HUGE selection of sandwiches. It's hard to choose so I usually stick with the BLT with avocado. They chop up the pickles and onions medley to small pieces so you get a bit with each bite. Also, they give you a LOT of bacon. The staff is extremely efficient with their sandwich making skills-- I don't think I've ever waited longer than 4 minutes tops for them to call my order. It's a great go to place if you have no clue what to eat come lunch time (it's happened to all of us...) as the sandwiches satisfy your hunger. Also, I like to support the small business owner. Another place my co-workers introduced to me. Every sandwich I have had here is TO DIE FOR. There are seriously like 100 sandiwches/combos to choose from. They also chop up in teeney-itsy-bitsy bite size pieces tomato, pickles, onions to put on your sandwich...super good and makes each bite evenly distributed with the each topper. My fave is turkey, bacon and avocado. The pastrami is YUMMY on a cold day. The combo with a fountain drink and a bag of chips or side of mac / potato salad for like $ 6.99 for a small (8 inch) or like $ 8.99 for a jumbo-troinc 12 inch. As others have said...parking TOTALLY sucks at lunch time as it is in a business park. I recommend calling ahead and ordering so you can run in and run out. read more

Having not been here before I asked the staff what is good. I was recommended the 'stuffer' or the 'monster'. Being as the 'stuffer' sounded like a cheese steak sandwich and I wasn't in the mood for that I oped for the 'monster'. It was boring and fatty, smooth with no bite, too creamy... the sandwich is basically all their meats stacked with cheese, avocardo and mayo. It needed pickles, or vinegar... just something to cut through the fat of the avocado and mayo. This is no magic sandwich science here... you have to balance fat and acid.
