Usually I order the crying tiger for me (with extra sauce because the sauce is divine) and drunken noodles for my boyfriend, but today I went with the crab fried rice and let me tell you, it was perfect. While I do wish there were big chunks of crab meat in here, it's instead shredded and mixed throughout the whole dish. The rice itself is cooked properly, has nice bits of fried egg, onion and coarsely chopped garlic. Its not heavily seasoned which really allows for the crab itself to shine through. I enjoyed the first five bites of unadulterated rice. And then I drenched it in tiger sauce, no regrets. read more

It is always a treat to find the opportunity to eat here. I most always have Paang Curry, medium (spicy enough). The chicken was tender and the soupy broth was delicious. Here is my biggest complaint of the evening. We were seated along wall of windows towards front. I was facing the west wall, or towards the front of the restaurant. They have a HUGE TV placed on the west wall. During my dinner I was entertained by some science fiction movie where some poor woman was held down on a gurney and a procedure was performed on her abdomen and they pulled out a gross looking alien creature. Who needs that during dinner, or lunch...why do they have a HUGE TV on anyway? It's not for the guests of a restaurant, because there is no seating near it (as in a bar). It's for the employees I suppose. It's one of the most ill-thought out, planned, enhancements. Turn the TV off, it's a distraction and no one monitors what it on it. If it's on the next time I come in...I'm leaving and will once again do a poor review. read more

Very good service on the phone when I called for a takeout order. My wife enjoyed her Pad Thai Chicken, but my Thai Basil Chicken left much to be desired. We eat in Thai restaurants frequently while traveling around the country and have had many pleasant surprises in small backwater towns and I was perhaps expecting a little more from a city like Topeka and with the strong reviews they have received here on Yelp. Great spot in Topeka if you're looking to try some good Thai food. My friend suggested this place and he definitely hit the nail on the head. First thing you have to do is order the money bags. They're like little bags of flavor that explode in your mouth. First time there I tried the four typhoon and it was great. Second time I tried one of the noodle dishes, that I probably wouldn't try again. The noodles weren't my favorite. I can't order wrong here. I always get the Thai iced tea, but I get mine with coconut milk and it is amazing. The curries are great. The Phad Thai is really good-a little sweet so I add at least medium heat. The rice spring rolls don't have a gluten. So they are a great appetizer for gluten free folks. read more

COME ON!! I ate here again for a post-easter celebration and things were averagely good, meaning there was nothing bad. Spring rolls average, fried spring rolls unexceptional, everyones food alright and the bitchy phone-hostess wasnt there...BUT, last night i called in a pick up order, as i thought i would give it another go, and MAN was i disappointed! First off, the bitchy phone girl did not answer the phone, instead the woman on the phone was very pleasant. Ok great. Plus half a star. I ordered pad thai, as i thought id try something i hadnt had in a while. Well, THAT was a mistake...MY bad! Plus 1 1/2 stars for the fresh spring rolls i received. As i am sure you have read in my previous review, they had been terrible lately (which is unusual). But this time they reminded me why i keep trying...the spring rolls were strangely deformed looking, but they had all the proper proportions! Sadly, this is the last good thing i have to say about my dinner. The pad thai is terrible! Its full of peanuts, waaaay too many peanuts. I know pad thai includes peanuts, sometimes i even order extra peanuts (at other restaurants) but DAMN! This was unnecessary, just excessive. It also has a TON or onions in it! I really wanted some tofu and noodles, sadly, i had to settle for peanuts and soggy onions trying to trick me into thinking they were noodles. Also, yet again, my to go order was lacking in size. When we go eat at tuptim my wife and i can easily share an entreé, but when we get a carry-out order...forget it! They are so small that one entreé often leaves me hungry afterwards, which pisses me off cause it aint "Dillons chinese food" price! The inconsistency here is just plain insulting! I really want to give one star only for this review, but i am sticking to two stars because of my previous meal here and because of the spring rolls and the lack of bitchy-ness. P.s. Never disappoints. Some of my favorites are the pad thai, sweet chili noodles and panang curry. With the curries you get so much I often order an extra side of jasmine rice and have lunch for the next day. I love the tuptim thai rolls and always get a side of peanut sauce. read more

While spending the day with my daughters decided to try this place for lunch since my oldest one always dines there with her family. I love Topeka, the number of local, not-chain restaurants is so few that when asked about a place like Tuptim Thai, people will either say "What's that?" or "I go there once a week." There's not that much in between. This place is fantastic! As other reviewers have stated, the moneybags are great, the different curries are on-par with any other place I've been to (and, surprisingly, I've had quite a few curries beyond the Midwest at this point), and staples noodle dishes like the Pad Thai are very well done too. Definitely not a place you expect in Topeka, but that makes it a local gem that I'm glad to support. This review only rates a 5 because the service is generally slow which can be really disastrous if you're in a bit of a lunch rush. Otherwise it's worth the wait, but still, an important point. read more

Passing through town on Friday we stopped here for lunch. Had the crab fried rice. They start you with sweet & sour soup - that tasted like no other sweet and sour soup I have ever had - I couldn't detect any "sour" at all, and it was super strong garlic with chunks of garlic floating in the soup. I love garlic, so okay with it, but I wouldn't call it sweet and sour. The crab fried rice was also very garlicky but I could not taste any other spice. It was screaming for some chili sauce or sweet & sour sauce or something, anything. Not too much crab in there, more like garlic egg fried rice. Their menu sounds good and I would go back and try some other things if I get back to Topeka. The wait staff was attentive and they were disinfecting every table after guests left. read more

Hot - well, the menu says it best..."We aren't responsible for what happens to you if you eat this stuff hot." The chicken was sliced thin and cooked perfectly. Moist and done.
