    Eggs Benedict and potatoes
    PJ S.

I Checked out Turchetti's for brunch. Oh boy, they have some pretty neat offerings ! I went with their Benedicts which were served over some red cabbage, pork tenderloin, and prosciutto. Yummy. Everything on the menu is ala-carte so if you want toast, bacon, or potatoes you have to specifically order them extra. (its a clever way of jacking up the price without you noticing until you get the bill). All in all my bill cleared $25 with tip for Eggs Benedict, potatoes and coffee. Was it good? You betcha! Was it better than your average greasy spoon! You betcha! Was it worth $25? Probably not - but most places with this kind of menu are in that same range. So you just have to deal with it and have a good time. Good service, funky hip-hop music playing, and good food left me pretty satisfied. I'll be back for lunch some time.

    The perfect BLT!
    Bridget K.

The BLT sandwich here is life! So incredibly delicious! They put crispy melt in your mouth bacon with fresh lettuce and a big juicy garden tomato. All sandwiched between crispy toast. Heaven! For me a BLT is all about the bacon, but when you nail the lettuce and tomato too, you've got me for life. Oh, and did I mention the ratio of mayo to sandwich is also on point. Great job on an a great sandwich!

Love this new spot! The restaurant part has friendly service (order at the counter), delicious burgers, and really good fries. The also have exceptional chocolate chip cookies. Yum! The butcher side is equally fantastic in its own right. You'll also find friendly service here. I stepped through to this side to find some spicy salami-type of treat for my fella. The gentleman working offered a sample to help me pick between two things which was very helpful. He also made a suggestion for an item I hadn't even noticed. My friend was able to get some smoked bones or something that's perfect for her puppy to gnaw on. So, there's something for everyone here!

Hey the jig is up, when is Turchettis going to get the recognition for one of the best burgers in the STATE. I mean what in the hell did I feast on when I ordered a double pattied onion smash burger I mean honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had. The jalapeño added to it, an excellent amount of crisp yet spice. Don't even get me started on the fries, I mean fresh cut golden crisp fries. This place is such a gem and I can't stress it enough from their fresh deli side, to their butcher counter, to their bar. One of the best spots in the city. Run, don't walk there, and spend way more than you meant to in the process. OH!!! The beef jerky to!! What in the hell was that wonderful beef jerky that didn't make it home because it got consumed in the truck. 10000/10

Turchetti's Meat Market is one of our local favorites for grabbing something quick to grill out. And the monthly meat share option is the absolute best! Earlier this year we tried the meat share paid a bit extra to have our meat shrink wrapped so we could freeze some of it for later. The portions are very generous and allow you to try so many different items from the market. A few short months ago, we even carried out some beef tenderloin so we could cook my grandpa his favorite meal for his birthday. Thanks to the meat market we were able to share his favorite meal with him. Lately the market has been our go-to for groceries. Stocked with great items like take-n-bake meals, soups, produce and of course, meat. We were happy to be able to support local while snagging items that have been otherwise difficult to find at the grocery. The ordering and pickup process was super easy - ordering off of Mercato (an online ordering service) and selecting a pick up time to grab our groceries. Their staff shared the sweetest note with us, thanking us for our support and even threw in two extra oranges since they were out of orange juice. Thank you Turchetti's Fam for being here for us.

If you want to find the best butcher and deli in downtown Indy, you've found it. The service is always great -- I tend to use less meat in my cooking, so when I do include meat, I want to know that I'm getting a good quality product. I also appreciate that they give cooking and pairing recommendations, as any good butcher should. Let's talk about the sandwich offerings, though. You can order a lot of these (all?) on the other side too, but it's super nice to be able to grab them as I'm also picking up local butter, veggies, and of course, meat. The Rosino is to die for -- the bread soaks up the juices from the tomatoes and it's just excellent. Can't wait to try the rest of their offerings!

Bones for making broth and stock
    Isabell M.

I come to Turchetti's butcher to get beef bones (and sometimes lamb) for making broth and stock. Their products are from a local farm that has grass feed animals. There's free parking at the back, but also accessible via the Red Line on Virginia Avenue! If you're in the area and want to make a night or day out of it, everything is walkable, shops, restaurants, theater, the Monon Trail. Turchetti's is right in Fountain Square, and only ten minutes away from Mass Ave. If you're dining in, get the hot chicken sandwich---you won't regret it!! They have dog treats and also baked goods from 4 Birds Bakery. Pro tip: the butcher has discounted days every Tuesday, 20% off the freezer section.

exterior has street parking in front

I know how good the food is at the deli side of the business, so I made a point of heading downtown to Fountain Square to pick something from the butcher shop that recently opened. There are a few street parking places (west bound) and I was able to grab one right in front! Inside, I was impressed at how clean the place looks. Display cases of packaged goods for those items you might want to store in your freezer were stocked. Displays of artisan chips and sauces/condiments were offering items to accessorize if you were going to get something to make your own sandwiches (they even had buns!) There were glass display counters for you to be able to see cuts of meat and sausage/cold cuts all below eye level so that you could easily converse with the friendly staff who were there to assist in filling your order. I also liked that they had some cooked samples of some of the sausages so that you could try before you buy. I ended up buying both the cheddar brats and the hot Italian sausage. Now understand that this is not some giant chain that can offer cheap cuts of meat at discounted prices. This place is all about quality cuts and assisting you to get the right meat for what you want to prepare. So, $10 a pound may scare off someone who wants to buy brats for a cookout (about 3-4 brats per pound). But if you are like me and don't mind firing up the grill for just a couple people, you can get high quality meats where they don't skimp on flavor. Unfortunately for me, I don't live anywhere close to this shop, but if I know I am in the area, I can pencil in making this stop last on my "to do's" and pick up something before heading home. It's that good. I hope that as the business grows, there will be a greater selection on display. I assume a butcher shop will work with customers who call ahead to get special cuts, but for now, you only see certain types of meats. Review #2765

From farmer's markets to to a weekend lunch spot to two shops! George Turkette & Amanda DeVary working that hustle! Turchettis (TUR-KET-EES) Salumeria opened last year, a great cozy lunch spot in the heart of fountain square. Then just this week they opened up Turchetti's Salumeria Butcher Shop & Marketplace! So now they have twice the space and twice the goods. The left side will serve as a sitdown cozy restaurant with his famous sammies - salads - burger - drafts - wine - and yummy sides like deviled eggs. The right side will house a market of sorts with fresh local produce, goods, butcher shop, and grab n go sammies, lunchables, snacks... etc. So I wondered twice the space? Are they ready for this? George and his lovely fiancee Amanda started this scrumptious restaurant just a year ago piggybacking off their market and catering clientele - with skill and a lot of heart they put they're all into it and... O yes back to my question are they ready for this - DANG STRAIGHT THEY ARE! When you walk in your greeted with a friendly smile and allowed to peruse their goods. I headed straight for the counter - and before looking at the menu just went with the special. TWAIN TIP: (if your not picky) get the special - it's always scrumptious - fresh - and never there for long. This goes with any restaurant - if you want a true feel for the chef and why they love food - go with the special - that's they're whole heart on a plate. As they readied my order, every order is made fresh here, I shopped a little more. Circle Kombucha- yes, Batch no 2 Mustard - don't mind if I do, fresh local strawberries - UMMM HECK YAS - ooo actually we are almost out of eggs - and good golly molly - the SAUSAGES! Another tip - bring a bag your hands will be full before you know it! The new staff is still training - so please be patient - but they were pretty quick with the masterpiece. Yes MASTERPIECE is an accurate description... the 'After School Special' hardy Amelia's semolina bread topped with layers of thinly sliced salty tender house bologna ( hot salami cotto seasoned with oregano, chile flake, red wine), gooey American cheese, smokey roasted tomatoes, creamy mayo - and guys... SALT N VINEGAR POTATO CHIPS - on a FRICKIN SAMMIE. Lord get me a bib and some stretchy pants! If sammies aren't your thing they have delicious chopped salads as well. They're also showing some of my favorite other locals some love like Tulip Tree Creamery, Batch No. 2, Circle Kombucha, Native Bread, Amelia's, Redbud Farm and Caprini Creamery and sooooo many more. Stackin and packing local at Turchetti's Meat Market - a grab n go deli in fountain sqaure! @twainindy

    The After School Special Sandwich
    Amy L.

Really glad I finally got down to Fountain Square to try this place out! Turchetti's is a meat-lover's paradise... my After School Special sandwich was a messy, delicious masterpiece of hot salami cotto, melty cheese and sun-dried tomato mayo. So flavorful! I'm a sucker for good crunchy kettle chips, and these were some of the best I've tasted lately. Dug the old-school R&B playlist on the day I visited as well.

SO IMPRESSED. We ordered all of our groceries for the week through Mercato.com (website that lets you order delivery or pick up from three of Indy's local markets: Turchetti's, Wildwood and Goose). We ordered several meats, vegetables, fruits, sauces and a delicious smashburger and fries from Turchetti's. It was similarly-priced to a normal grocery haul and we chose to pick it up curbside. When we arrived at Turchetti's, we called them and they came outside immediately with our order, properly labeled and divided by refrigerated items, produce and ready-to-eat meals. Their team is SO wonderful and professional. They were in high spirits and you can tip them at @Turchettis-Delicatessen Venmo (this is being written during quarantine time and they're using it to pay employees). There was even a handwritten thank you note in our bag which was such a sweet touch. Their meats are incredible and they're stocked with everything - get good food to cook while you're stuck at home!

It has a little bakery on site (Lemon's Bakery Cafe), which has hot food and baked goods, with seating by big windows that overlook Mass Ave. Beyond the cafe, the rest of the joint is a small grocery store. You'll find a modest produce section with fresh-looking greens and fruit and things. They sell house-made hummus and sushi. The wine section is abysmal, but I did find a bottle of one of my cheapie low-key favorite bottles of Malbec here, so I picked that up. The dried ramen section is also better than it needs to be. The prices seem to be about the same as Kroger and other grocery stores. Checkout was quick and there were several registers open. The only thing is that I entered through the cafe and exited by the registers, so I got a little turned around once I exited. That said, this is not my favorite Saraga. (My favorite Saraga is the one in Castleton.) This Saraga is a little grody, to be honest. But how can you hate on a grocery store that exists in Indianapolis with such an abundance of food from all around the world? Overall, I am so glad this place is here. I visited Saraga not knowing what I was looking for, but was quickly drawn to the Japanese snacks aisle. I saw lots of different flavors of Ramune (that Japanese marble soda), which is my children's favorite, and Pocky, my favorite. Then I went to the seafood aisle and looked at the fish swimming in the aquarium below their unlucky brethren who had been filleted and arranged in the display case. Then I walked to the Mexican food aisle and saw many kinds of Mexican candy. The frozen food aisle had lots of different things, from Indian samosas to Korean vegetable pancakes. The meat aisle is hardcore. But, that's to be expected at an international grocery store. Be prepared to see pig snouts and chicken feet packaged next to less offensive, ambiguous red hunks of meat. This is the place to get bulk rice and beans, imported snacks and produce that you can't find anywhere else, like yuca root and plantains. I love Saraga in general, and this one is good and important to this part of Indy.

It has been nearly nine years since my original review of this Meijer location, an eagerly…read moreanticipated arrival for me as a longtime fan of Meijer. An updated review is long overdue. First off, the anticipated battle between Wal-Mart and Target has been a non-starter. All three still co-exist within about a mile or so of each other with Target, in particular, blossoming with the growth of Glendale Town Center. While my original review was for opening weekend, this review is now several years in with hours changed, staffing patterns established, and a sense of the mundane established. ADA still tends to be fine (and slightly better than Target in my opinion. The Ben's Pretzels that was here is long gone. The South Bend Chocolate Company spot that was planned never came to be. The area where you can buy pizza is a small dining area at the back of the store with a few tables and a vastly reduced selection. The pharmacy here is still a highlight. I've always appreciated the staff - something I can seldom say about the rest of the store. As a chain, Meijer has a long history of hiring people with disabilities and frequently for more than being a doorway presence. In the battle of the three major stores (Target, Wal-Mart, Meijer), there's no question Target's the winner. I primarily head to Meijer for certain items, for pharmacy (I don't care for CVS pharmacy, a Target partner), and for ice. I also head here because the accessible parking is superior to Target and Meijer has small carts that are easier for a wheelchair user to manage. Customer service? Clearly a Target win. It's not even close. Even at opening, Meijer fell short and it's only gotten worse here. Last night, I visited Meijer in search of a few items. I can almost never find help to reach an item. Customer service continues to carry on personal conversations in lieu of serving people. The self-serve check-out is nearly always unreasonably long. Actual check-out lanes are typically 2-3 available with ungodly long waits. As an ostomy wearer (if you don't know, you probably don't want to), mine actually popped last night because I was in line so long waiting. Seriously. Seriously inexcusable. I live about 2 miles and five minutes from this location. I frequently get in my car and drive all the way to McCordsville because that location is better staffed, friendly, has greater selection, and is immensely cleaner. I realize it's newer, but it's actually been a while and I consistently have a better experience. Yes, I know McCordsville is a small town. Yes, I know 56th and Keystone is a bit rougher area (as evidenced by the fact that security and/or IMPD is consistently a presence here). But, really? If you're going to have this location why not show some pride in it? My feelings of "meh" have given way to feelings of embarrassment to the Meijer chain for this location. I should not have an ostomy pop because I've waited in line for so long trying to check out. The cashier? Perfectly fine (I do tend to view Meijer employees as Stepford employees...incredibly robotic and devoid of personality). Am I done here? Probably not. It's too convenient. However, more and more I'm giving my hard-earned dollars to Target and/or making the trip to McCordsville. This area deserves more than a dirty and under-staffed Meijer with a worse selection. I absolutely want Meijer to continue to be here - I just want this Meijer to be representative of the best of Meijer instead of the worst.
