I was visiting Portland for the weekend, and my aunt took us here for brunch. The vibe is awesome - the restaurant appears to be an old dealership, and there's even a real Cadillac inside the restaurant! We went on a Saturday morning, so there was a bit of a wait--but honestly, that's usually a good sign. Just a heads-up: your entire party has to be present to be seated. Our only hiccup of the visit was with the person checking people in. When our name was called, I happened to be in the bathroom. My mom said everyone was there, and before she could explain, the host interrupted her, said "no," and started counting on his fingers to point out someone was missing. It came off unnecessarily rude and a bit aggressive. After that, though, everything turned around. The service at the table was great--our waitress was warm, attentive, and kept my coffee topped off the whole time. The menu has tons of appealing options, including breakfast all day (always a win) and some solid brunch specials. I ordered the Fleetwood's Denver Deluxe omelet with ham, mushrooms, cheese, roasted red peppers, and green onions. It came with Cadillac potatoes and toast. The omelet was perfectly fluffy, and those potatoes were a standout--with a super flavorful spice mix that I'm still thinking about. My aunt went with her usual: a side of the potatoes topped with gravy and bacon, and my mom got creative and made a bacon sandwich using my toast plus a side of bacon--she was very happy with that decision. Overall, aside from the less-than-friendly check-in experience, everything else--from the atmosphere to the food to the table service--was excellent. We arrived at around 1:00 and were seated promptly by a kind host. We were seated in the Garden Room which is painted a soothing sage-green, featuring a lovely mural. The Garden Room also contained plants, and patio style metal tables and chairs with cushions. I ordered a rosemary vodka infused Bloody Mary which was the highlight of my dining experience. For lunch I had the GrownUp Grilled Cheese Sandwich (a grilled cheese sandwich with caramelized onions) and a salad. The salad was warm, wilted and unappetizing, the tomatoes in the salad were so old they had burst. Mr. Wonderful had the Cat Fish and Chips, he ate it but wouldn't order it again. We had high hopes for this cute little nostalgic spot, and felt let down by the food. The service was efficient and friendly. I attended a business meeting here at the Cadillac Cafe. There was an available hexagonal table for 6 people which was perfect. It was lunchtime on a weekday. There were tables by the window, a center divider with rows of booth type tables on either side. They also have an indoor patio room which is beautifully designed. The menu is huge with so much variety. I had to Cajun Catfish with Collard Greens, cheesey grits and housemade biscuit with homemade jam. I recommend this place over other restaurants known for their biscuits. The portions are big, unlike the other popular places of the kind. The menu variety is vast. Loved the addition of grilled leeks in there as well, great balance of sweet and savory. Their English Muffin was also very well-toasted and paired well with the marionberry jam. Got to try a bite of the French Toast and that was also tasty! Loved how custardy but not soggy it was. Their menu is diverse and overall well-executed. Service was nice. Came here for breakfast on a random Wednesday morning. We got a seat right away with plenty of open seats. There were a handful of folks working there but lots of open spots. We got two of their specials that day, which were a Mushroom Ragout and baguette French toast. Both were excellent, flavorful, and unique! Old school diners bring joy to my heart. This was another recommendation from a friend. To be honest, I've never been a fan of the car brand. Not that it's too related because I was here for food...But I will say that I appreciate the decor. If the goal is to bring people back into the past, then I think mission accomplished. Service was cool too. I learned a fun fact from my waitress. "All Marionberries are Blackberries but not all Blackberries are Marionberries." I don't really eat Blackberries on the regular but from what I'm told, they are sweeter and have more zing to them. I love sweet complexities. So if you love Mimosas, you definitely gotta check out the Marionberry Mimosa. The Chicken Fried Steak was super tasty too. I loved the gravy and I appreciated how crispy the steak was. Having breakfast in Portland with an old friend, and he chose Cadillac Café on Broadway. This place brought back memories, as it was my old stomping grounds as a kid. I was delighted to learn that Cadillac Café has been a staple this neighborhood since 1989. The first thing that strikes you when you walk in is the great brand aesthetics and the cool vintage Cadillac on display. The staff quickly greeted us with coffee and menus, giving us plenty of time to catch up. Their breakfast selection is extensive, featuring big selection of omelettes, various breakfast platters, Benedicts, a mouth watering array of pancakes, and even a Monte Cristo offering. We tried this place on a weekend for brunch. I really love the ambiance of this cafe, however, the service and food were very average. We ordered cappuccinos and they were out of oat milk, and the almond milk wasn't that great with coffee. We tried their banana bread which was really delicious. We ordered omlettes and egg benedict and both of them were very average. They should definitely work on their service because it's very delayed even though we see lot of people around. There was confusion in order because one person came to take order and she leaves and the second person comes in, it was very chaotic just to order. Overall, a decent place to try. Service was good, atmosphere was good, but the food, so mehhhhh...I got the huevos rancheros and they were terrible. Bland, boring, flavorless. I've gotten these at a couple of other places and they were great. Not so much here. Overcooked eggs, no cheese, no refried beans, no flavor. Yuck. Brought my church group here, after Valentine's Day. It was pouring rain! Two people didn't show up (lack of parking in the neighborhood, so they went home). Hubby ordered the French Dip. Which was very tasty! His only complaint was, he ran out of dipping sauce! With French Onion Soup. The bread on top was so large, that it absorbed most of the soup! I ordered the Smoked Salmon Hash. (There was no hash, instead I got chunks-style red potatoes. My egg was inside a cup, not two, like it says, and it was runny). What was I supposed to do with the egg, that was runny from a cup? Drink it? Pour it on my potatoes or bread? There were plenty of smoked salmon. (I probably get the omelette with spinach, next time we go there). Other than that, it was all good. It's a kind of a neighborhood diner, the with a touch of the 50s vibe going on. Service was... languid. Not bad, no errors, just sort of casual. The kitchen seemed the same. For a place with a short breakfast menu, it took a while to get food. Not TOO long, just longer than you'd think. The food was good. I ordered basic breakfast, and I can't complain at all. I saw some of the specialties going to other tables, and they looked great. I'll have to come back for a Benedict, or the salmon hash, which sounded good. So overall, the grade is "OK". read more

Cadillac Cafe is in a non descriptive building that we have driven by on serval occasions, but it never caught our attention that they were there. My husband tried this spot out recently with a friend so he recommended it when we were going for lunch with extended family. The vibe is laid back and throw back diner with a huge pink Cadillac in the back center of the restaurant. Additionally, there are small tributes to the Cadillac as you look around. The restaurant made me smile as I entered and we were seated at our table in front of the Cadillac. This place, I was told, is best known for its breakfast. It's a substantial menu with lots of cocktails and bar menu up front, followed by a few pages of breakfast items. You can find breakfast specials, eggs and omelette as well as sweet items like their French toast and pancakes. They also have a variety of lunch items from a shrimp and grits to burger, sandwiches and salads. I opted to try one of their specials: Egg in Purgatory....Cheese grits, sauce diablo, ham and bacon bits, mushrooms, grilled leeks, topped with two poached eggs. Served with a biscuit with infused pepper honey. 20.50 The serving was very large and the ham, bacon bits, mushrooms and leaks were placed in large piles on top of the grits (almost like you would place items when ordering a con salad). And then topped with two poached eggs. The food was good, but lacked a bit of depth in flavor. It needed more seasoning. I was hoping to give this place a higher score. It was cute, the staff was nice and the portions were large and the food was good, but nothing special. We were here during the week and not in prime hours so we were able to walk in and get a table easily. It was clean and comfortable. Would I stop in again? Yes, if I was hungry and in the area. However, there are so many other places to try that I wouldn't prioritize the Cadillac Cafe as a destination for breakfast. read more

I've driven past here so many times I could not count. This was my first time going in for lunch. I really wanted to give the place 5 stars but it came up slightly short because of the burger. My friend told me about the breakfast and specialites the restaurant is known for by most guest. I was hard headed and ordered a burger and fries. The presentation was good! I'm a sucker for fries in a basket! The fries had a nice crisp snap and good flavor! The ketchup was off a little, I didn't recognise the brand. I had to spice it was hot sauce since the flavor was off. No points taken off for that. I took off a point because the burger patty was not even! I seemed as if the patty fell apart on the grill and they still served it. The section looked like a flat tire on that side of the burger. The staff was nice and polite. No ups or downs, just standard nice service. I"m not giving up on Cadillac. I will go back again and try the breakfast! read more

Food, ok. Service, welllll. I'll explain: I guess I can say that my overall experience was sort of odd/uneven. When I arrived, the restaurant was not terribly busy and I was seated right away by the hostess and provided some water. However, I could not see any servers for quite a while, and it took nearly 10 minutes before my server came by and took my drink order, a simple one, coffee with cream. I finally ascertained that there were just two servers on the entire floor, plus the hostess and a busboy clearing tables. At this point things got normal, my order was taken and not long after I got my food hot and fresh. And though the omelette wasn't cooked exactly like I requested (I like them runny/undercooked), it was at least not overcooked to oblivion. (I will say their French toast is one of the best in town: eggy, moist in the middle, crispy around the edges, in short, everything you want from French toast.) Really, my only issue was with the coffee, in particular the frequency of refills. When there are only two servers on the floor, why oh why isn't the hostess, who I observed walking around empty-handed the entire time looking for something to do, empowered to circulate with the jug of coffee and refill cups? This is such a basic thing that it boggles my mind that I have to mention it here. At one point, my server had his back to me attending to another table with the jug of coffee, and proceeded to head back to the kitchen without thinking to turn around to see if I wanted a refill. I called out as politely as I could, and he began to dismiss/rebuff me, saying he'd be with me in a minute. What else could I possibly have wanted at that point but more coffee? I guess he realized he had been rude and came back fairly quickly to refill my cup. I said, sorry for raising my voice, all I wanted was two seconds of your time for a refill, and that was the end of the exchange. Moral: If you are in the business of serving breakfast, one of your primary responsibilities (and a simple way to keep customers happy) is to keep those coffee cups filled. Orange juice tasted old. The coffee was weak and bad. My wife's chicken fried steak was gumming and bland. The pancakes were under cooked. My eggs benedict looked good but tasted terrible. I was literal concerned that it was going to make me sick. I've never had this dish taste so bad and strange. I ordered fruit with it and the fruit melons were crunchy tasteless and overall just gross. The prices happen to be overpriced to compound the bad experience. Figure about $40 pre person for breakfast after everything. I was concerned about how easy it was to be seated. Now I know why. It's just sad. I can't believe the food is now that bad!
