The food is worth its weight in gold. So accommodating and healthy! Unbelievable flavor but the food is the reason as locals we return. I've never left a review but today as a former server/bartender I was not impressed. I would not consider today busy (5 tables in our section) we were seated in five minutes. When the server finally came to our table (15 min later) we were asked, "are you ready?" We had no water no drinks- we ordered our drinks and food at the same time. We came late to lunch 12:45. Drinks 10 min later and food right after. We didn't leave until after 2pm. Ordered an appetizer and a quiche. Asked for dessert and was told whip cream would take five minutes. It was 20 later and only three tables in the whole place. Asked for another round of drinks 10 more minutes- asked for a box and the tab- 15 more. If you are not in a hurry by all means. The food is fantastic- i can't say enough good things- if you want the worst service (hands down we eat at every restaurant in Palmer) eat here with tolerance. read more

It doesn't look like much on the outside but it's warm & beautiful inside. But interior design is not the real reason I visit. The food is just omg! I keep coming back for the chicken & figs. And the cookies... The chocolate cookies are so good. Moreover, the staff is consistently friendly & attentive. It may seem a bit pricy but isn't everything in Alaska? We were referred by the Palmer Visitor Center to enjoy a very nice lunch place with good food to share time with friends. Boy, were they RIGHT! We booked a reservation, but had to call - we were early. Our table was ready when we called and our server was right there when we arrived. Service continued to be absolutely excellent. Although the menu is limited, we all found options that provided us with a delightful lunch. I tried the Moroccan beef stew for the daily specials menu and found it delightful with lots of pleasing flavors. Others chose sandwiches with a side of a cup of soup of the day. Everyone said their meals were generous and the 2 soup choices both were very good. There was not one single complaint among the 6 of us . The desserts were freshly made and very good as well. We found the prices very fair. If we lived in Palmer, this would easily become our regular restaurant. We would love to try breakfast and/or dinner at Turkey Red! read more

We were coming from the glaciers and needed somewhere to go for lunch on our way back to anchorage and found these place on yelp. So so glad we went! We had the stew of the day and it was hearty and yummy, pots of Moroccan mint tea, and half a ham and blue sandwich and everything was great. Really good food is one thing, but the service was perfect! The waitress was friendly, helpful, and attentive! I could not recommend more highly, especially if you're in the area. When Turkey Red came to Palmer, so did good food and drink. The food is consistently tasty and there are tons of meals that are both delicious and healthy (a rare find in Alaska). They have great options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Some of my favorites include the BLCT salad (fresh, local greens with chicken, bacon and tomato), the steak salad, and their stews. I recommend asking for the salad dressing on the side, as the salads tend to be slightly over-dressed. Their burger is one of the best I've ever had, partly because of how it's prepared and partly because of the quality beef they use. The beer and wine selection are terrific and the service is super friendly. This may be one of the best restaurants in Alaska, especially for localvores. read more

As visitors from Portland Oregon, we googled and yelped for a spot for lunch. Turkey Red came up and had high ratings. We can see why. We were welcomed at the door and were shown promptly to our seats. The soup of the day was an excellent homemade clam chowder. The roast beef sandwich was to die for. Nearly an inch of thin sliced roast beef, cold caramelized onions, horseradish on fresh focaccia bread made a half sandwich a full meal. At least 6 local Beers were on draft too. Met some out of town friends for lunch, nice decor but that is where the compliment ends. Pastrami sandwich tasted over poweringly of mustard, never got refills on coffee, and mushroom soup had no texture...was over processed in food processor. I inquired if I could use an expired groupon for the paid value (not the groupon value )and the woman at the counter shut me down immediately. The staff was rude and uppity... We've eaten at Turkey Red three times over the last several months and it has become our new favorite place. We appreciate the emphasis on local ingredients, their easy accommodation of food sensitivities and their consistently friendly and professional service. The mussels are top notch, a must have as an appetizer. The soups have always been delicious as well. The soup of the day has been our "flavor of the night" on more than one occasion. I do wish they'd change up the menu a little more frequently, as it has been the same one for all of our visits since August. Also, while they are loyal to local micro brews (a definitely plus) their beer selection could have broader variety. (I am being rather nit-picky here). The atmosphere is nice enough for en evening out, but we can also take our small children there without worry. The staff always engages brilliantly with the kids as, which helps make us feel welcome. It is clear to me Turkey Red has tremendous depth in the flavors they are able to create. We are excited to explore it more over the coming months, and hope they can continue to impress us with new, locally inspired creations. read more

Ate here twice on a relatives recommendation and was glad I came. Cute little local place built into a small downtown mall. The stew of the day was very good with tender meat, not the fatty leftovers I've had at other places. There are many vegetarian and gluten free options, so my wife was able to stay healthy while I gorged on the meat options and fresh macaroon cookies and other bakery goodies. Another recommendation is the Portobello Mushroom sandwich and the Lentil patty. Both had tons of flavor and fresh grilled veggies. There was a take out counter for people just wanting the fresh bakery goods or a to-go order. They serve local beer on tap, so it makes for a very good day to stop off here. The non imbibers in our group enjoyed the fresh tea that came in little pots to stay warm. They had a good assortment of wines to chose from. Don't know if they are local as it might be hard to get a moose to stomp grapes. read more

The food is pretty good...they seem to use fresh ingredients and at least try to take some care with how they prepare the food, which is unusual for a restaurant out in the valley. They could stand to rotate the menu a little more...it has become a little stale. My main complaint is with the service. The servers and hosts are generally unfriendly and borderline snooty. They don't seem to make any attempt to be efficient or helpful. If you show up without a reservation, prepare to wait. If you are seated when they seem busy, the service can be REALLY slow. Many times it just seems like nobody takes care to actually run the place and coordinate much of anything. This is a good place for the valley, but not a top-notch restaurant. read more

You guys watch South Park? All I could think of was Sodosopa really pretentious place. Comes with a mandatory tip of 20%! I am not a cheap person, I usually do 25% but the fact that it's mandatory ‍ anyway, the food is strange. The potato salad is just potatoes in vinaigrette. Not too big of portions. Limited side choices. And expensive. Attracts some pretty pretentious people. Which is fine if your in to that. Why people say this is better than the grape tap in wasilla, I know not. I suggest noisey goose cafe instead, bigger portions, friendlier waitresses, and way better food! read more
