We were offered free wine with our meal but when we said we don't drink, they offered Turkish tea instead which was certainly something I would pay for and order it myself next time. We ordered dinner for 2 which the server explained could be customized for 3 or 4 people. We got started with a refreshing soup along with 4 dips and fresh pita. I loved the babaganosh and the hummus and even asked for more pita which they didn't charge extra. The assortment of Kababs was a good way to try everything. Everything about our experience was amazing. We made a reservation for 6:30 and were seated promptly. Our server served us complimentary house wine (such a nice touch). We decided to order the mixed kebab plate to try a little bit of everything which was AMAZING! So fresh, so flavorful and so delicious. The meats were grilled to perfection and so juicy. I'm not from Madison, but when I return, I'm coming here. I cannot say enough about this place. We were a party of 4, celebrating spouse's birthday. The food is terrifically good. Spiced and flavorful. We had the appetizer plate, the mixed kebab platter, and baklavas. Every one of the dishes were outstanding. While I have not been to Turkey, my guess is this is authentic. Visited Turkish Kitchen for a late Sunday lunch. The venue had such a rustic and clean look - lots of wooden beams and the resturant appeared well-organized. Once arrived, we were showed our seats and were given complimentary soup which was really good (not sure what exactly was in the soup). My party of two ordered a hummus platter to start and 2 entrees (one ground beef kebab and one chicken kebab). The hummus tasted fresh and was served with warm pita bread which was good. The ground beef kebab platter was really good. The beef was juicy and well-seasoned and was accompanied with a crisp salad & had roasted veggies (roasted poblano I believe & onions / tomatos which was so tasty!). Overall, the entrees were each around ~$26 which is more expensive than other Turkish restaurants / lunch spots in the area, but the quality of the food they're serving and nice service makes me feel the price is worth it. We then waited for another 30-40 mins for our food to arrive...The chicken kebab was okay, but the lamb shish kebab was simply bad...it was dry, thick and plain (not well seasoned at all). To top this all off, extra pita was $6 (we weren't made aware of the price before served). I am a pescatarian and decided to give this restaurant a try because, despite having only meat entrees, there was a veggie kebob entree. It's clear to me that whoever conceived of this entree is not a vegetarian. The platter contained grilled mushrooms, onions, tomato, and pepper, and a grilled half-eggplant and half-cucumber topped with some kind of sauce. As sides, boiled broccoli, potato, and string beans were added. So, a ton of vegetables and no sources of protein. A side salad was offered, containing more cucumbers, tomatoes, etc. -- but how many veggies can a person eat in one session? I couldn't even touch it. There was a (very small) lentil soup offered as an appetizer, which was delicious, but it was insufficient in making for a balanced meal for a vegetarian person. My suggestion to the owners is that they offer sources of protein on the vegetarian kebob platter, such as grilled haloumi, hummus, chickpeas, etc. I suggest that they also bulk up their vegetarian offerings (one entree is hardly enough), and also consider offering a shrimp kebob or some other fish for pescatarians. Vegans need protein too! So if you'd like to keep the veggie platter vegan, please add vegetable proteins. I won't return to this restaurant until the menu is changed, because there is no balanced meal that I can eat. Other areas for improvement: the eggplant was too charred, to the point of bitterness. The warm cucumber was odd and the sauce on both the eggplant and the cucumber were...not good. The service was slow and unreliable. We got two different waiters who switched between our tables, and, while nice, they were both slow and disorganized. For instance, both of them passed by our table multiple times, hands-free, and didn't think to collect the empty plates crowding our table. Thanks for your consideration. read more

Perhaps it was a busy night, but the service was incredibly poor. The two glasses of wine we ordered, never arrived, despite a second request. We ordered a kabob platter and asked for two extra plates when it arrived, so we could serve ourselves more easily. They were never brought over. No one came over to fill our empty water glasses. The grilled meats were good but the grilled vegetables were badly burned and inedible. The "rice pilaf" was plain rice. We particularly loved the chicken dishes (kabob and shawarma). One thing to note is that the portions are quite large. The chicken kabob dish included salad, rice, yogurt sauce (can't recall the name of this), and a type of bread that resembled a pita. The chicken shawarma was huge (seemed larger than most pita sandwiches I've had before), and the sauce was particularly tasty. Overall, everything was well seasoned and cooked nicely. At the end of our meal we had turkish coffee and they brought it out with some baklava. A perfect sweet end to a lovely Sunday meal. Something to know is that the food takes a bit longer to receive than other restaurants. Though we were happy to wait (we brought some books to read), some folks may prefer a quicker, more fast-casual dining experience. If so, this might not be a great pick. read more

This place has great food! It is fresh and flavorful. I actually came here because a friend recommended it. So, when I first arrived, we were served Turkish tea. Then we were told to go to their online menu. I tried to find it, but their website is difficult to navigate, and doesn't work very well. I would recommend they fix this, and make the menu easier to find. So one of the waiters came and told us what our options were. We ordered a lamb kabob and a chicken kabob, as well as their FABULOUS Baba Ghanoush. Our waiter was also in charge of the 15 top and 5 other tables (maybe more-only 2-3 servers). It was busy to say the least. GET RESERVATIONS. No liquor license yet but complimentary red wine (Bogle). Appetizer was good and the pita is delicious. AN HOUR LATER our food came. Had to ask for napkins three times, water twice and silverware came a few minutes after our meals! We each had a different lamb dish. The lamb shish kebab was dry and bad. The lamb chop was good. The other lamb dish was delicious (forget name "lamb sac or something). Salad was good. Soup was good. 2 stars for service, long wait for food/drinks, etc... Pricey for Madison-each meal $25-$30. Luckily wine was free (this time). This was a tough one to review. First off, the food was amazing. The service was quite good too. Now, my review is about a month stale (Dined in November 2023). The weird part was the drinks. There was no bar to speak of - but "complimentary" red wine of unknown origin, type, or brand. I am hoping/thinking that this might just be a delay in their liquor license - but I love a good wine or cocktail with my dinner. But I don't think the complimentary wine concept is a winner. The prices looked a little high when you think about one skewer of chicken but it's seriously worth it because that is not all! We ordered the chicken kabob which comes with a giant pita, amazing tomato salad, and a big roasted pepper, and rice. We also ordered the Adana kabob which is beef and lamb. It has a sausage texture but was very tasty. They also brought out hummus and Tzatziki sauce. And to seal the deal, they offered us a taste of the baklava! Came here for dinner with friends on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy and we were seated immediately. The menu is small but don't let that deceive you. We ordered the baba gnoush, Adana kabob, and baklava. Everything was delicious! You could tell everything was fresh and made to order. The Adana kabob came with rice in addition to the pita and veggies. The tomato and onion salad was my favorite. I would order it on its own for sure. The baklava is a must! It came out warm and with plenty of honey. The only thing is the baba gnoush didn't come with pita so we ended up using the pita from our entrees. Otherwise it was a great meal for a great price.
