I love the delicious food and great service at Turmeric but my last visit was over the top special. My friend drove that day and I forgot to bring the case for my Invisalign. I wrapped it up in a Kleenex and stuck it in my purse. It was on top and when I got my credit card out, yes I set it on the table and proceeded to walk out of the restaurant. Once I got to the car, I looked for it and it was gone, and then I remembered leaving it on the table in the Kleenex. I went back inside and the manager and I went through the trashcan Twice! I could not believe he was in there with me going through it. Everybody's leftover food that had been thrown in there, but there he was helping me out. We didn't find it and left to run an errand over by the mall. To my surprise, he called and had found it. Yes, he went through that trash three times. I can't begin to tell you the relief! In a world where people are not concerned or always saying that's not my job, this gives me hope that there are still good people and I appreciate all of your aggravation of going through that trashcan a third time, kind sir!!! First of all the flavors in every dish we chose knocked our socks off! We chose a medium level of heat and decided on a variety of dishes to try to get a full experience. We HEARD the Tandoori Mixed grill come out, then the aromas hit us. BEAUTIFULLY prepared! There was a wide variety of meats, chicken, lamb, fish, paneer, shrimp. Sizzling on a cast iron platter with aromatics mixed in. This dish was perfectly seasoned. The chicken was my favorite! The Chicken Korma was next. This has to be one of my favorite Indian dishes ever. The chicken is almost secondary to the sauce as I tend to dip naan the whole time I'm eating it. The chicken however was very tender and the flavors were incredible! We had two different kinds of Naan to sop all of the sauces up! Such an incredible variety! We had outstanding service and there were several servers making sure our drinks stayed full and our plates were cleared. The restaurant is an old Wendy's, not too fancy inside but clean, and the area is not the greatest, but don't sleep on this restaurant!! We ordered the garlic naan and the vegetable samosas, pastry stuffed with potatoes and peas. These definitely have a kick. For our main dishes, I ordered the chicken coconut curry with basmati rice. My husband and I, joined by his parents, came to celebrate his mother's birthday, and we made sure to indulge in as many dishes as we could. For appetizers, we started with a shared platter of mixed vegetable pakora and chicken chili momo. Both were a hit! The pakora was crispy and perfectly spiced, while the chicken chili momo was an absolute standout. The aroma of the chili momo was so intoxicating that it filled the entire restaurant. The best choice we made was to order the dinner for two at a total cost of $40. Honestly, it was enough food for 3-4 people with big appetites. All of the food was great, but I especially enjoyed the tandoori chicken kabobs, the garlic naan, and both the turmeric chicken and the vegetable curry. So flavorful! For $40 you share an appetizer, bread, and dessert, and you get your own soup and entree. It's not like a prix fixe menu because you get so many choices: which naan, which soup, which curry, which dessert. Oh my word! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! This restaurant used to be a Wendy's, but it's had a makeover for sure. The ambiance was sort of basic, and the music was unnecessarily loud, but we didn't even care. The food was the star. It may be that the all the servers wait on all the tables; I just know that someone was always available and helpful, and our drinks were always full. I love this place! I have lunch here often because of the value, the service, and the fantastic quality of everything I eat here. I usually get the butter chicken lunch special, and it is crazy good. There is a great sampler plate they give you for the lunch special, with a couple soups, a side, some tandoori chicken, and something sweet to finish. It is so much food, I always take some of it home, and the leftovers are perhaps even better! We ordered three apps and entrees. I also ordered a dish to go. The sauces were perfectly spiced. The food came out quickly with the best service. I really enjoyed the green mint sauce. It had a little kick. The pani puri was pretty good. I wish the sauce had more spice! They were crispy and loaded with filling. I would order those again. My lunch special ordered large was a FEAST! It was a mountain of food that I throughly enjoyed. I ordered mine medium spicy. It had an ok heat to it. I enjoyed all of it but my paneer was my favorite. An Indian culinary delight! We came here on a whim Saturday afternoon and so glad we did. The food was amazing! I usually don't like the green mint sauce or the raita but here...I loved them! I tried the Chicken Pakora, Vegetable Samosa, Pani Puri, Chicken Tikka Masala Bhiryani, Bullet Garlic Naan, and Gulabjaman. The Chicken Pakora was like the best Indian chicken nugget you could have. The meat was juicy and seasoned as was the breading. The Vegetable Samosa was packed full of filling and perfectly fried. The Pani Puri was just ok (I don't know how they should be, so the could be absolutely amazing but they just weren't amazing to me and don't call me back to them). The Bullet Garlic Naan was packed with flavor and paired so well with their raita. The Gulabjaman was great and was a lovely dessert. The Chicken Tikka Masala Bhiryani was amazing. Let's start with the portion size. It was large enough for two to eat all they wanted and still take more than half home! It was a large serving! But its sheer bigness isn't all. It was SO DELICIOUS! The chicken was flavored and juicy, the rice fluffy...it was everything it needed to be plus more. The service was also pleasant and very accommodating. It sure smells good when you walk in. I had high expectations. If you have no affinity for Indian food, you'd likely enjoy your meal. I was under-whelmed. Condiments, pungent and tasty. Papadum light and crisp. Deviating from our usual, we ordered mixed appetizers, in essence a plate of fried indistinguishable wee-wees. You're best served getting samosas. They're pretty good. In placing my order, I indicated my expectations for chicken tikka kabob: succulent and well-marinated. The chicken arrived in small chunks -- already a tip-off -- with the undersides burnt, minimal flavor, and dry. Nope! T, who generally orders lamb vindaloo, compared his to an excellent takeout place in my neighborhood. The vindaloo at Tumeric wasn't as good, but the sauce, which I tried, was okay. Basmati rice tasted like Uncle Ben's. Wouldn't necessarily know that it's basmati. A gentleman -- likely the owner -- stopped at our table. "That looks delicious!" he said. I nicely told him where my dish fell short. He smiled and walked away. With a growing number of Indian restaurants in the area, it behooves proprietors to step up their game to stay competitive. I was a little skeptical rolling up on this place and seeing the storefront. I was at first worried that it was going to be some type of chain takeout type situation. To my surprise inside was actually a dine in restaurant filled with local families. Always a good sign. My waitress was very kind and this place definitely gives family business vibes. LOVE Their menu is extensive, breaking out vegetarian as well as meat inspired dishes and providing lots of options for various appetizers, entrees and specials if you want a little bit of everything. I went with an order of vegetable samosas which were tasty. The crust was perfect and the potato and pee filling was substantial, although a little bit under seasoned for my liking. They came served with the trio of sauces, the usual tamarind, cilantro mixture and some pickled onions. For my entree I had the lamb korma with basmati rice and an order of naan. The lamb was tender and flavorful. I ordered it at spice level three which the waitress said was 'hot'. It was perfect for the occasion. Got a glass of Sauvignon blanc to wash it down. If anything the wine list was a bit disappointing. I'm used to more rieslings, and a gewurztraminer on the menu to pair with Indian curries and spices. For a dessert, I ordered the pistachio kalfi which was tasty and just the right portion after a very filling meal. Portions are substantial and I had enough to take home and have for lunch and dinner the next day (with a side salad). Staff was kind and did not bother me as I read my book while eating. I've been looking forward to trying this restaurant out. The exterior looks like it used to be a fast food restaurant with the drive through lanes and windows. The entrance was not very clear because of that. It still has the two side entrances from the previous fast food restaurant instead of one main entrance of a typical restaurant. When we first walked in, we were told there would be a little bit of a wait despite several empty tables. I'm assuming it was because they weren't able to handle full capacity. We decided to sit in the waiting area. However, the smell from the bathroom was overwhelmingly gross. It smelled like we were in a porta-potty. So we had to move. Once we sat down, we looked through the extensive menu. It was a very long menu that took a while to look through. I'm glad they offer so many dishes, but it's very difficult to read through, especially since we don't know what most of the items are, so we would also have to read through all of the descriptions, which we didn't because it would've taken too long. One of the things I didn't like about the seating was that we were seated right between the two entrances. So every time someone opened the doors, a huge gust of cold air came in and it was very cold at night. I would like to see them add double doors to prevent that from happening. We ended up ordering the Dinner for 2. There was plenty of food that comes with it. You each get a soup, which I thought tasted good. There was a hint of coconut flavor to it, but I can't remember the name of it. There were several entrees and I enjoyed each of them. We also tried the Garlic Naan which was very good. The wait staff was very nice and came to check on us often. I asked one of the them for any recommendations on the appetizers, but he said he didn't have any recommendations for us. Not exactly what I like to hear. At the very least I would've liked to have heard what his favorite dish was. We then asked another lady and she was able to give us a couple of recommendations on the menu. Overall, I thought the food was decent, the portions were very good, and everyone was kind and polite. However, because of the aforementioned issues, I would have to give them 3 stars. I don't think I would want to dine in again, but I might try take out next time. read more

Went here for the first time today. The food was just ok, not really the flavors I would expect from Indian food. I ordered the veg thali with the saag paneer. The paneer was not seasoned at all. It was just plain paneer dropped in the saag. The chicken that we got was good, although the drumstick that was given was very small. However I thought that was the best thing I tried and it didn't even come with the veg thali I ordered. I don't know if I would be back.. I'm under the impression that the best area to search for Indian food is the eastern suburbs of Atlanta, but I was headed north so I stopped here. They have a lunch thali, and while the options when I got there were a little different than what was on their website, that was a heck of a thali. First off, I got a papadum and some chutneys, including some spicy pickled peppers. Then, when my platter arrived, it was tough to even get it into a photo. Not only did it have the saag paneer I ordered, with some hot peppers mixed in to match my spice level request, but it had lentils, soup, rice, bread, a carrot-based dessert, a few fresh vegetables, and (with me having been disappointed that okra was not offered as a choice) some okra as the vegetable of the day. Look at that platter! For the $12 I spent on it, I would struggle to get a veggie burger and fries or a quality build-a-bowl for lunch, but here, I got an absolute feast, with all the variety and the bright fresh flavors that I could want. Ordering a chai got me a spiced and unsweetened beverage (sugar was at the table but I deferred), which was hardly necessary given how stuffed I was on the actual food. While the place was clean and empty when I arrived at the beginning, a large work group arrived and ordered everything and the smaller tables started to fill up around them. The larger group was led by someone who was casually talking about his homemade dosas and the rules of the cricket game showing on several TVs, so he clearly knew his stuff, as do I. I had the roti , the cheese naan , lamb vindaloo (spicy) , and chicken biryani (spicy) & their spice levels are VERY true so if you don't like spicy, then get a lower level of spicy that they offer . I also had an appetizer that was a dumpling but I can't remember the exact name of it but it was very tasty too .
