Was excited to try out this new Indian restaurant in Marietta. When we initially entered, there was no one there to greet us, but there was one person who fell asleep behind the counter. We eventually got seated. I'm assuming during non-busy times you can just seat yourself. We weren't familiar with a lot of the items on the menu. I wish there were descriptions of the items. There are also several photos of the various dishes. However, it would be nice if the pictures were labeled so we knew what each one was. We ended up asking our server to give us some recommendations as well as identify the photos in the menu. We eventually settled on the Aloo Gobi, Coconut Fish Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, and an order of the Garlic Naan. I thought the Aloo Gobi and Coconut Fish Curry tasted great. They were very flavorful and portions were plenty. I was a little disappointed at the Chicken Tikka Masala as it didn't quite taste the way I was expecting. This is usually my go-to dish, so I've had it many times in the past. The service was good. We were checked on often and everyone was very friendly. They offered us a dessert at the end, and I have to say I loved it! I can't remember the name of it, but it was like a small rice pudding dish. Great new Indian restaurant! Service was a bit slow but the food was excellent. Started with the Aloo Samosas, and they were GREAT for an appetizer, crispy AND savory and flavors matched well with the sauces. For starters you HAVE to get the tandoori chicken, flavored and cooked to PERFECTION!! We also got Malai Kofta which was an excellent vegetarian curry that tasted great with their garlic naan. Delicious! We ordered chicken vindaloo and chicken tikka masala with an order of plain naan and garlic naan. The portion of naan was bigger than offered at other Indian restaurants in the area- I LOVE naan and always wish I had more but I finished the meal and didn't feel like I was shorted. Service was quick and we appreciated that they offered a complimentary appetizer and dessert (I didn't catch what either were but we loved them!). Was meeting up with a friend / former co-worker I hadn't seen in a while and we were trying to figure out a good place to try. We wanted some place we hadn't been before, feeling adventurous, so we decided to give them a try. Exterior Located in a fairly non-descript strip mall. Free parking Interior Seemed clean. I didn't get a chance to to check out the health score. Customer Service The staff was subdued, but not rude. We asked for recommendations and weren't really provided any. Price / Value This is supposed to be Indian fusion (versus traditional Indian), so I'm not really sure how to compare it to traditional Indian, price-wise. Like most restaurants nowadays, I did find the portions a bit small - but I guess that's just the norm now. I miss the days of dining out and having enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Lol. Food I wanted the Tandoori Salmon but it wasn't available, so I went with the Butter Chicken. My buddy ordered Tandoori Chicken Wings and the Chicken 65. She wanted a lot of food so she could carry some home to her teenage son. The food was presented well and tasty. I love spicy food and if I had any recommendations other than bigger portions, it would be that I would have loved for it to be even spicier. Tandoor Tavern has only been open a few months, so we were excited to give this restaurant a try! Pretty dining room with about 20 tables. It's brand new so very clean as well. We were greeted by a kind waitress who quickly sat us. She was the only one in the dining room and there were a few other patrons, but rest assured, service was good. We tried the Kadai Chicken (spicy), Prawns Ghee roast (medium spicy) and Chicken Tikki masala, (medium spicy). They will ask for your spice preference too so you can level up if needed. Everything was great. The Kadai chicken was not as spicy as I would have preferred, and the prawns were actually spicier so make sure to clarify your preference. Their regular and garlic butter naan was delicious as well. Very good portion size as well. Id definitely come back again go try them out!! read more
