We recently moved from the north side of Chicago where pizza and restaurants set the bar for good food. We've tried the handful of pizza places in Lemont and tried Turnabout Pizza for the first time a few weeks ago and enjoyed it so much we have been back several times since. The pizza sauce is a little too sweet in my opinion, but still tasty with the right ingredients. Definitely try the roast beef and giardiniera...it's delicious. My children liked the cheese pizza because their crust is a little thicker than most and that braided edge is satisfying. If their sauce was a little less sweet I would definitely rate it a 5/5, but then again it's my preference based on where I grew up on the north side. Haven't tried the sausage pizza yet, but it will be next on our list. read more

Love love love Turnabout!! I've grown up eating this pizza and I craved it when I moved out of town for a few months. The pizza is always delicious and i've never been disappointed with any of the ones I've had. I also like that during the week they have pizza by the slice for lunch. Just ordered from them the other night and it was excellent. I love their thick crusts its one of the things i look forward to! They also have really good Italian beef sandwiches. I like getting them with cheese. It's a great alternative if you want something besides pizza. I also love their drink selection - GREEN RIVER!! I only know a few other places in the area where you can get this pop and i will occasionally pick up a bottle when I pick up my pizza. It's not bad, I think it's a little overpriced for what you get. I got mine delivered from call time to deliver time it was around 2 hours ,and I'm only 4 minuets away from the place. Also all the toppings was slid to one side of the pizza when I got it. It's a decent taste the sauce is really sweet and the bread is thin and a little to crunchy in my opinion. read more

This place is awesome! They probably had some of the freshest slices I've ever eaten. Honestly, I wish I could take them downtown with me. No indoor seating, no problem. Just a walk up counter. Love it. Other reviewers commented on the sweet sauce. I didn't find it THAT sweet. It does lean that way, but not by much. I think it's that they don't skimp on ingredients here. A good amount of sauce sits under the very generous amount of cheese. The sausage was juicy and abundant. The crust was firm enough to maintain the toppings, but soft enough to fold the slices. With that being said, it is messy. I'm not going to deny that, but the flavor was incredible and I was full. It is worth noting the twisted crust. This is a first for me for slices. The attention to detail was not overlooked, and you can tell their is a real passion here. The place was super busy at 11:30AM with a lot of construction guys coming in and out. You can tell this is a hot spot for lunch slices. Did I mention how cheap it is? Yes, really. I think I found my new spot when I'm in the area for work. Pizza is one of those really personal things and you tend to either love or hate certain places. I do love pizza here from time to time, I'd say it's my favorite in the area. But if you're not into a sauce on the sweet side, a lot of cheese, and a not doughy but not super thin twisted crust then you should probably pass. I've tried a pasta dish before and it's nothing out of the ordinary but otherwise it's just pizza we get. Always good amount of toppings and probably a little heavier on the cheese than I like but it's yummy (can't argue with cheese really). I've only done pick up as I'm not within Lemont but it's one of the closest places to me, and the best one nearby. Small gem tucked away in Lemont. I stopped in today for the first time for a slice of sausage pizza. Crust was crispy good and the sauce was not running and just enough sweetness to keep me chopping. If one slice of pizza was delicious...I can only imagine what an entire pie would taste like. I grabbed a menu and notice they do sell beef, dogs, sausage and tamales. I wish I could give them a better review but I can't. The pizza is awesome. The service is complete shit. EVERY SINGLE TIME I go in when they tell me, the pizza is no where near ready and they like to tell me that I'm way earlier than I should be. The attitudes of the staff is extra special as well (total sarcasm there btw). If they had anyone responsible working there instead of a bunch of punk kids, it would probably improve. Until then, you should just show up 20 mins later than they tell you it will be ready. Hopefully you won't have to wait much longer after that. read more

Friends and family were raving about the flavor. Yelpers often compare restaurants that are 10, 20 or more miles apart from one another. When you're in the mood for takeout that doesn't really work. I live in the N/W Burbs & I still base how good a pizza is off of Turnabout. When I crave pizza, this is the place I think to go to. When my kid was still in High School in Lemont, I would get there early to get her just so I could still get a slice of Turnabout Pizza. While I will say the second time was better than the first I just don't know what these people are eating that we are not.... I'm all for a sweet sauce and thick crust but this crust was like a rock. If you are in Lemont you must try this place. Best pizza you can get in the Lemont area. The cheese is thick and the hand twisted crust is really one of a kind to me. The toppings are always good and the sauce is also a one of a kind sauce. Anytime I am in Lemont and looking to feed a group of people this is the place that I will go. It has a cool old fashion look on the outside and inside. The have a picnic table outside if someone decides they want to eat there but it is limited if people are already there to eat. There is no where to sit and eat other than that so it's harder for people living from a distance to eat here. read more

Good stuff! They have a party size pizza and a twisted bread end crust. They cook the pizza in the old style ovens, no conveyor belts. The pizza is always fresh, hot and good. The dough is between a thin and double dough crust. The prices are very fair. read more

They grind there fresh cheese everyday, make an amazing thick sauce and awesome crust! You can order your pizza thin crust, thick, no edge, double dough and now they have a gluten free crust! There ingrediants are fresh and the service is great! And they give pretty accurate times, never had a problem with it being late. People just can't read a clock on come to early or too late.
