Best groomer in town bar none. Nikki and her staff are amazing. Her shop is clean, bright and inviting. We have been loyal customers for years and have never had a bad experience. Both our boys are rescues and initially were very skittish. Nikki and her staff took the time to work with them and gain their trust. Now my boys go in with tails wagging and no hesitation at all. It is a play date for both of them, they get to play with others and be groomed at the same time. We call it going to the "spa." We walk in and they greet my boys by name. When we pick them up, they are happy, relaxed and look and smell amazing. I am very particular in their grooming and the staff goes out of their way to make sure that my boys are groomed the way I prefer. I can not say enough about Nikki and her team at Turquoise Tails! I rescued a giant lab from the Santa Fe shelter in December 2019 and couldn't find a groomer who was accepting new pets - not even the groomers I had used before. I researched reviews and immediately called Turquise Tails thinking it was a long shot such a highly-reviewed groomer might be able to get my pup in. I spoke with Nikki and explained my situation and she was so kind and fit me into their book right away. She even took a personal interest in my rescue and his rehabilitation. I have a little eleven pound white Mi-Ki, named Patches. I am very particular about who grooms him, in fact I don't let anyone groom him unless I first view the facility, interview the groomer and watch Patches being groomed. Niki Zotos, is the best groomer Patches has ever had. We got to know her when she worked at Paws Plaza and have followed her to her own business Turquoise Tails. Now here is why she is the best, Niki never pushes an animal rather she gives them time to trust her. I have personally seen her calm down a dog that had gotten very upset when another groomer was trying to trim toenails. She is a real dog "whisperer". I have been getting grooming services from some of the better pet groomers here in Santa Fe. They all did a good job, but I pay total attention to how my dog reacts when I take him into the groomer, the vet, Tails Doggy Day Care... I have never found a groomer that would let me "watch"... so I had to take "Thunder's" advice! My 20 lbs. miniature schnauzer has very definite opinions and his opinion of Nikki and her services is: He loves you and can't wait to get out of the car when I come to your shop. I recently moved to Santa Fe along with my 11 year old Shiba Inu. He has been groomed every two weeks for many, many years and he has always been a challenge for every groomer he has ever had because he is extremely vocal in his displeasure with being groomed. Niki has by far been the best groomer he's ever had. She is patient and kind and really does her best to make him comfortable. Last time I picked him up she was giving him treats and he was eating it up - literally! I still dont' think he likes being groomed, but Niki makes the experience as pleasant as possible. I had trouble in the past with a groomer mis-treating my dogs Pepper and Buddy after which Buddy had complications with his back, he cannot walk or stand for long periods. I found Niki a few years back at Paws, I was allowed to stay and watch the grooming process. She is a fantastic person, patient with Buddy, and does a fantastic job. I have been looking for a great groomer in Santa Fe and have finally found one! All three of my dogs (2 Poodles/1 Samoyed) look fabulous and were not stressed or upset after being groomed. Everyone there was kind and cheerful and the location was extremely clean (no bad smells or dirty spots). I have had many bad grooming experiences in Santa Fe so I cannot say enough nice things about Nikki and Turquoise Tails.The last place I tried shaved my female poodle down to her skin and it has taken 6 months for her fur to look good again. Our 14-year-old Poodle-Shitzhu mix is a squirmer so our previous groomer skipped some important steps when working on her. Niki knew how to deal with her which means our sweet girl got one of the best haircuts she's ever had. Niki also did a great job on our shelter-rescue "Maltipoo." Niki has been grooming my cocker spaniel, Muffin, for a couple of years now. I followed her from Paws Plaza to the opening of her own shop, Turquoise Tails. I just moved to Santa Fe from Dallas and was searching for a good groomer for my mini Labradoodle. Niki is more than good. She is excellent. She does a beautiful job with her cuts and she listens when a tweek or change is needed. Her salon is open ,spacious and clean. But above all she is so good at handling and working with Titan, our dog. I can't recommend her enough. Titan gets so excited when we tell him he is getting a bath with Niki. Turquoise Tails is AMAZING! I have 2 rescue pups that are scared of most things, and I have been trying to find a groomer that does a good job on trimming nails. Today my journey ended when I took them to Turquoise Tails! We have taken our standard poodles to Turquoise Tails for years. We have also taken our neighbor's Chou/retriever mix (which requires totally different type of grooming) to Turquoise Tails. Our dogs love going to Turquoise Tails. We love to take them there. The results are always spectacular. The attentive staff listens and acts on any requests for changes to regular grooming routine. It is such a pleasure to have Niki groom my Shih Tzu, Karma. I get to stay and watch or go and return, which is a rare privilege. We are in and out in about an hour and Karma isn't thrown in a cage or pen waiting her turn for hours on end. My 10 year old malamute is a tough girl but when it comes to grooming she is a pansy ! She is very particular about who grooms her. Incredible place!!! I could not be happier with the work at Turquoise Tails. My dog was happy and looking beautiful. It was easy and not traumatizing for my Buddy which says a lot because let's face it I don't see many dogs excited about a bath. They love animals and it shows .
