I really like this place. It is a cute and small coffee shop, and they have a nice patio area to sit. Plus, you can bring your dog. They have a big menu of sandwiches with some vegetarian options. They also have a small selection of baked goods. I like the sandwiches, they give you tortilla chips and a pickle too. The only bad thing is parking. Their parking lot is tiny, so if you go at lunch time you won't find a parking space. And all the parking on the streets nearby requires a permit since it is across from campus. So I only go at off times. If you are already at campus or somewhere close I would walk. read more

I can't stand Coal Creek's coffee. This is the only shop I throw my money at. Mad Hatter is my favorite, along with the London Fog (something the place introduced me to). It is also the only place in town with gelato, so I always take my God daughter there when she's in town. Thank you Turtle Rock! My Son and I stopped by Turtle Rock to get smoothies on our way home. It was a great environment, and the workers were very kind and patient. We've gone many times, and have been pleased with the service every time. Prices are a little hire than I'd like but for an occasional treat and a "date" with my little guy, it's the perfect spot. Changing my review a bit after eating there for lunch. It was great! Great service! And amazing food! I ordered the Hodgepodge salad and thoroughly enjoyed it! The cute barista knows what he's doing, that was a pleasant surprise! I had a breakfast scrambler that was wayyy too cheesy, and pretty bland- not too many options for that, oh well. Service was super friendly and fast, and the atmosphere is bustling, which is nice to be surrounded by after being on the road forever. Fantastic food, slightly overpriced...I had the mad hatter and hubby had the bombastic. Yum yum!!! Curry mayo is sooo good. But for $8/sandwich you should get chips or something with it and I think it took me maybe 8 bites to finish mine, so portions are small IMO. Good find in Laramie though. Passing through town, needed a place for breakfast and coffee. You'll look long and hard to beat this place for quality and friendly service. A local hang out and regulars from the college abound. Real, down to earth people. The kind of people hipsters wish they could be but lack the authenticity to achieve. The staff and clientelle here were granola before granola was cool. The scramble is amazing, cinnamon rolls are huge, coffee is top notch and specialty drinks to suit any taste. Truly a highlight. I can't say enough about the great service. Bar none my favorite coffee shop in town, it's less expensive than others and the service and coffee is better. My girlfriend also tells me that their chai lattes are far superior to others had in town. Their sandwiches can get a little pricey but they are very good, I generally stick to the coffee. read more

They sure know how to make a cup of joe. Fancy coffee beverages for people who like to taste the coffee in their coffee. Their espresso is among the best I've had (I drink a lot of americanos) and their sandwiches are damn good. They also have a wide variety of other beverages (Jones, Izzies, tea, etc) if coffee isn't your thing, and generally it's a good place to have lunch. They also have a case full of gelato that might not win any awards, but it's Laramie and they try. Best cup of coffee in town is a toss up between these guys and Coal Creek (at least now that I've moved away). read more

I went to the other location by the Baymont Inn, but I'm guessing that this location isn't that much different. The sandwiches, wobblegong and something chook, are delicious, as are their soups, chicken and rice and tomato bisque. The girls that work there are friendly and sweet, super nice people. I like this place a lot. I'm so grateful that it was so close to my hotel. I could go there for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between. :) read more

That was a solid halfway stop for lunch today. We were able to sit outside with our dog & they brought out a bowl of water for him. The service was friendly & the sandwiches that we ordered were tasty. The service was quick enough. The only downside is all the parking around the area is city permit parking only. They have a little parking lot, but we were towing a trailer and there was no way we could fit in that lot, so we were forced to park a couple blocks away. Not a big deal, but if you're on the lazy side or have a disability, parking can be an issue. read more

I travel for business quite a bit, and seek out local establishments with fresh, tasty ingredients. This is among the most satisfying sandwich houses I've been to. The ingredients are not only fresh, but are offered in many hearty pairings as shown in a photo of their blackboard here on Yelp. The espresso is on par - good enough but not exceptional. The dessert cookies are home made and tasty. My two colleagues agreed that the sandwiches were great, and encouraged me to Yelp about it. I've spent a lot of time in Louisiana over the years, but without a doubt, today's gumbo served at Turtle Rock Cafe outshined any gumbo I've ever had in cajun country. Really, appreciably better ingredients and taste. They have a number of indoor tables and high cafe tables, as well as an outdoor patio. It gets crowded during the lunch rush. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere collegiate, of course, given the location across the street from the University. When traveling on expenses, I look for satisfying places like this to enjoy and tip generously. Hopefully I'll be able to bring my wife and kids here some day when we travel north from CO for a family trip... read more

Sopped here on our way to Park City. Great spot, good espresso. We had the madhatter wrap (chicken, bacon, avocado, red onions, tomato and curry mayo) and a Applachian salad (grilled chicken, greens, green apples, shaved parmesan, almonds with a balsamic) it was served with a small grilled focaccia and cheese slice. Nice inviting coffee joint atmosphere... Cute mugs for sale with their turtle logo. I had the Wobblegong which is a turkey and pesto sandwich with fresh basil. Very good concept and yummy meat, but waaaay too much bread to business ratio. I would have liked to taste the basil more. Took the top off and mushed the business together and had a perfect sandwich and a focaccia treat for the birds. Want to go back and try again, as my son said his wrap was the best tasting wrap he had ever had. They had gelato too, which MUST be sampled!! read more

Turtle Rock is a favorite with lots of locals in town. Their coffee products are good but I'm a huge fan of their lunch menu. My go-to is "the Jingleding" which has chicken, bacon, ranch, onions, lettuce, and tomato on focaccia. There could easily be more seating, as it tends to get very crowded closer to midterms and finals week from the students that come here to study. Overall though, it is a great place for either a coffee and snack or a great lunch at a fairly low cost. read more

I've gone to Turtle Rock intermittently for several years. It has a lot to recommend it: - LOVE their apple scones. I've tried to copy them. They are very soft and buttery. - They have a selection of (homemade?) gelato! (!?) - Good coffee - I was inadvertently there for a coffee date on a Wednesday night (not realizing that the 1st Wed of the month is a special dinner offering, with cloth napkins and all). I didn't have time for the dinner but my friend ordered it and gave me a taste. I could *still* bring to mind the exquisite flavors months later. *Must* go there on a Wednesday night with friends for dinner! - Very nice patio, which in Laradise is great - in season. - Nice Celtic music with a few noted players on most Monday nights - this is unscheduled/informal, as far as I know. TWO THINGS I WISH: - Wish it were a little roomier/had more parking - but then it wouldn't be across from campus. - I *wish-oh-WISH* they would get their milk properly chilled so that their lattes would foam up properly and not be mostly air. This is something I've never known them to do right. read more

By far the best coffee shop in town! The employees are so personable and friendly, which is one of my favorite things about T-Rock! Every other coffee shop in town, seems to not have very happy employees working for them. The drinks are great, the sandwiches even better, and the atmosphere is so cozy and inviting! I needed to set up a working-lunch for important out-of-town clients, and was notified late in the afternoon the day before. Turtle Rock came through 200% for us, even with such short notice! They quietly brought in trays of meats, veggies, great breads and spreads and dressings, salads, fruits, desserts and drinks. Everything was crispy-fresh and tasted great, and our clients who came from Houston, commented on how good the food was (high compliment, coming from Food-Town-USA). I haven't gotten the bill yet........... but I don't care........... the clients were happy and I'm sure it was because of the good food. read more

I think the Turtle Rock Café across from UW is fantastic. Always has been. It is in an old Dental office building and they turned that place around to a fantastic place of good food and ice cream. Nice place to go relax and enjoy. It is a bit small but that is ok for where it is located. Great to go outside in the Summer to sit on the nice patio or in front of the place. Parking is rotten but then UW has all the city streets for themselves so those of us without a permit have no where to park. All in all that is not Turtle Rock's fault. read more
