We came to Sweet Melissa on a weekday night and sat outside with our 2 pups! Our server was literally the best- he was so kind, funny, and very attentive to us and our dogs. He brought us a water bowl for the dogs, and he gave us a ton of recommendations on the menu as well. For our meal, we started with the dolma and kimchi pancake. The dolma was great, but the star here was the kimchi pancake! It was crispy, flavorful with the dipping sauce, and so delicious I wish we ordered 2. For our entrees, I had the General Tso's cauliflower which was the best fried cauliflower I've ever had. They were sooo extremely crispy and very flavorful! You can't go wrong with these or the cauliflower wings. The sauce on this was a tad spicier than I normally like that day, but that did not bother me given how delicious the dish was. My partner got the lettuce wraps which had a yummy tofu scramble that we also really enjoyed. Overall, I love the concept of comfort vegetarian food that Sweet Melissa offers, and I am so glad we stopped by here. I was visiting Laramie with my husband and our two dogs this past weekend. We're both vegan, and we were thrilled to find the vegetarian cafe Sweet Melissa. Since we had our dogs, we sat on the patio. Any other day, we wouldn't have done this - it was nearly 90* outside without a single cloud in sight - but our car was in the repair shop and we didn't have another option. We made a note to order and eat as fast as we could. We had our drink orders taken, and the server brought our dogs out a fresh bowl of water. We were waiting for a long time to get our drinks, and even longer to order our food. There was a sliver of shade that our dogs were able to lay under, but us humans were absolutely roasting. After waiting for 20 minutes to order our lunch, I actually went inside to order myself. We spent another 20 minutes waiting for our food to come out, our drinks nearly hot from the sun. When our food came out, the server apologized for the lack of shade and mentioned that Sweet Melissa does have shades, but they don't stand up against the wind, so they take them down. (That's not particularly useful information.) The food? Absolutely incredible. At this point, we had spend double the time we wanted here so we scarfed down our food and cashed out. I would have rather been warned about the patio and suggested ordering something to-go over being told (after an hour) that they know there's an issue with the patio being exposed in direct sunlight during the middle of the day. Started with Buffalo cauliflower that had the crunch of the genuine article but a sweeter taste that meshed with buffalo sauce and gorgonzola dressing. Also, a terrific Greek salad with good falafel and dipping sauces. Mexican salad was also very good, but they could go lighter on the olives. Felt satisfied without being stuffed when we left. I'm visiting my daughter from Colorado and she suggested we eat here for dinner. She had been here a couple of times before and liked it. We split the spinach salad. Absolutely delicious!!! I could have had just this for dinner. So yummy and satisfying. We also split the lentil meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Neither one of us are vegetarian but maybe I would be if I could cook delicious foods like this. It was so good and I never found myself asking "where's the beef?". I really had a hard time with this rating. I'm going to say this is a high 3 for me ultimately. I'm on vacation in Denver and decided to drive up on Memorial Day & was pleased to find a vegetarian/vegan place that was also open. So I ordered the vegan Ruben (with seitan), a side salad (with vegan Greek dressing), a Bloody Mary, a kimchi pancake, and a piece of chocolate cake for dessert (don't judge me!). I think I'd have been happy with just the Ruben, though. The Bloody Mary wasn't that great (just not great depth of flavor) and I didn't care for the kimchi pancake (I'd never had one before so maybe it was just me). The side salad was weird - I've never had a side salad with whole baby carrots & celery pieces (think the size you'd put peanut butter on), a lemon wedge, and whole slices of tomato, just not great? I also got the wrong dressing (I thought it was wrong but I'd already poured it on my salad). The chocolate cake wasn't anything spectacular but it was good (add raspberry sauce). So the Ruben - it was really really good. I chose seitan and vegan smoked provolone. Not sure why the dressing came on the side but there was plenty to spread on. Bread was toasted nicely, just an overall delicious sandwich. Service was alright, not super helpful when I had questions about menu suggestions or enforcement of the 2 hour parking but he (mostly) got the job done. Plenty of inside seating, some outside seating (if you don't mind the occasional train across the street), and a bar area. Would I come back here? We have stopped here a few times on road trips to and from Denver, and sometimes the staff is nice and proactive, but most recently we were ignored for about an hour. Look, Laramie doesn't have the best food. If you are traveling here, my advice to you is to pick your restaurant on vibes alone - and the vibe here is winning. Super old building in the heart of downtown with large windows that face the train tracks. The owner is such a delight and obviously cares very much about the business. The food is okay for foodie standards but well above average for Laramie. Order the cauliflower wings with Buffalo sauce and smothered black bean burrito and you'll have a great time. read more

Driving across country with a friend with a severe dairy allergy. We pick larger towns to eat in so we have an option or two. We were so surprised to find a vegetarian/vegan option here in Laramie. As a meat and dairy eater, I was thoroughly satisfied and enjoyed the wonderful food immensely. I highly recommend the Tikka Masala. I've been here a couple of times while passing through Wyoming from camping and I love stopping here on our way back! The service is beyond sublime and the food is delicious. Most recently I had the dolmas , the tofu and broccoli with coconut rice and the green chili Mac. Off the top the rice - while a bit dry and quite crunchy actually carried such a nice coconut flavor and if it were to be softer I would've just eaten it by the buckets. The tofu was crispy and the service was so filling. The dolmas were lemony and fresh. And the Mac hit the spot. As a vegetarian I normally feel underwhelmed with vegan Mac but this was flavorful and cheesy! Great work and I can't wait to stop by next time we're in town! read more

I ordered an appetizer which is unusual for me because the kimchi pancake caught my eye and it's okay but I've had better at Korean restaurants. This was my wife's pick for dinner and I being a carnivore was hesitant to go. I lost and we drove down to first street for dinner at Sweet Melissa's. We arrived at 6pm on a Wed evening and were promptly seated at a corner table by the front window. Their menu was three pages of apps and dishes all labeled with keys indicating contains eggs, dairy, honey etc. . I gravitated to the back page that listed specialties and found a couple ravioli dishes that piqued my interest. Asking our server for her opinion she pointed me to the ravioli with chipotle cream sauce and raspberry sauce. My wife copied me and ordered the same dish. We also ordered a small Greek salad to share as I am a sucker for feta cheese. For drinks I picked an Odell IPA off their chalkboard list while my wife got a glass of Malbec. Our ravioli dish was very tasty. The chipotle sauce was sneaky spicy but the raspberry sauce cooled it down a bit. The accompanying garlic bread could have toasted more but other than that no complaints. The Greek salad to start was fresh and yummy. The warm pita bread was a nice bonus. I am a frequent yelp reviewer. I travel a lot regularly eat out. I also live in Laramie. I have no idea how this place has a 4.7 star review. It is a trendy place and has outdoor seating a nice feature in Laramie. The food is decent not 4.0+ stars. I sat here for a good 20 minutes waiting for my drink to be filled we finally went and retrieved someone to serve us. This is typical here it's like they are too cool to worry about serving you. Overall the food is okay and the ambience is good but the service is subpar. Unless you need vegan type food there are many other better food and service options in Laramie. Next drive to Utah I think I'll stop here to eat. This was a nice place. The lady who greeted me at the door was kind and she took our order to go. We had our dog Sweet Tea with us and we're driving to home sweet home. My black bean burger was deliciously topped with avocado, tomato, pickle, lettuce surrounding by a very soft bun. The side of sweet potatoes was yummy too. I can't believe I ate the whole thing!! But I just couldn't put it down. Oh and I had a bite of whatever my husband had and it was great too.
