Went to Turtles for the first time in a while when on Siesta Key because we had heard it was back to being great again: and they were right! First off, the service was amazing. Our server was very attentive and helpful. Our food also came out fairly quick. Next up, the food. I got the fried grouper, fries, and a non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiri. It was all amazing, the grouper was defiantly some of the best on the key and was very nicely sized for the price. I forgot to take a picture of it, however I did take a picture of the strawberry daiquiri. And finally, the ambiance. This is a place we used to love. The setting is still great but the seafood we had wasn't what it should be. The coconut shrimp could have been great, but were overcooked and served barely warm. My grouper could have been good, but was seared so fiercely as to require a knife to cut through to get to the fish. Cole slaw was sad. Mashed potatoes were good though over salted. We've driven by this place for a while now and finally stopped in. We loved it! At our table we had salmon, ribs, and steak with stuffed shrimp. Sides we ordered were sautéed veggies (done perfectly), rice pilaf, and garlic mashed potatoes. We enjoyed some great cocktails as well. They make everything from scratch here and it shows! This is our thirtieth year of coming to Turtles once a year. We had Savannah as our server. She was attentive, polite, knowledgeable and very nice with a great smile. We had coconut shrimp with a great pineapple sauce, a wedge salad(0ne of the best ever) The lobster bisque which was wonderful. Turtles never disappoints on food! Savannah made the evening enjoyable! While in Sarasota, my mil and fil wanted to stop by turtles. After looking at the photos of food on Yelp I was skeptical at best on the quality and flavor. However I'm glad we tried turtles anyway! Plating I give turtles low marks (2/10)... flavor and quality 9/10 (my Mahi Mahi was defiantly over cooked). Service friendliness and overall care 10/10. Three of us went for dinner. No disappointment tonight. I had a cheese burger, fries and coleslaw. Very fresh and cooked the way I instructed. It was tasty. The fries were golden brown and extremely good. The coleslaw was just the right blend, and right amount of sauce. My partner had coconut shrimp with fries. She was very happy with her selection -- done just right and very tasty. A third party joined us, and she had Mahi-mahi, mashed potatoes, and stir fried vegetables. Done perfect, with no errors. Went here last night for dinner. Highly disappointed. I ordered the Filet. It was so salty I could not eat it. I had to flag down the server to advise. Another one was prepared. This time it was so tough I could not eat. Server nowhere in sight. Never came back to see how it was. Not even a manger stopped by. I again had to flag down our server. She asked if we were done which I advised yes. She did not even ask if my meal was better. She could see only one to two bites had been taken. When the check arrived nothing had been adjusted. At this point we just wanted to leave as it was a down pour and we were on the patio dining. Poor service and no customer service. Sadly I would not recommend this restaurant. The only thing going for the restaurant is the waterfront dining. It was beautiful even during the rain. read more

We really enjoyed our food, view and atmosphere here. Our waiter was great. He met our needs and was friendly despite his tables being spread all over the place. Even our kids ate all their food. The only qualm I have, and it's really not an issue just something weird that happened, is that our 13 and 14 year olds were served as kids with small styrofoam cups. We ordered an adult meal for the 14 year old and she was served a kids meal. It was ultimately fine since she wasn't super hungry but it would've been nice to be asked. He did save us some money and I'm thankful for that. I could see us coming back in the future. We had a great family meal. Need to target their strengths... A/C is not one of them. So be willing to sweat even if you sit inside. The Bang bang shrimp appetizer is delicious, but a very small portion. So I didn't find it worth the price. The stuffed flounder special was good. The homemade mashed potatoes have a yellowish tint and have large chunks of potatoes so not nearly as mashed as I would prefer. I found the flavor just ok but my wife liked it. The coconut Mahi Mahi was really tough. Could've been a bad day but I wouldn't recommend based off our meal. The turtle pie was delicious but we're pretty sure it was just a Edward's pie from the grocery store. And the kids desserts looked straight up like Klondike bars. So not bad but you could get them for a better price down at the Publix. Kids chicken and fries were fine. Basically exactly what you would expect if you ever get kids chicken and fries anywhere. read more

This local spot is pretty low key with a small menu. Very Florida-esque if that makes sense. Has a sleepy vibe and it's located right on the water next to a boat launch. People can also pull up, anchor their boats, and go grab lunch. It was fairly busy when we stopped in during a holiday weekend, but service was still good and we were seated right away. I got their eggs Benedict from their brunch options, which wasn't too bad. They had $5 mimosas too which was ideal. We got off of the trolley because we wanted a few drinks and to sit by the water so we went into Turtles. We had just had lunch before that so we just ordered the turtle pie and the house margaritas. I tasted a little bit of the pie and it was yummy and the Margaritas were delicious :-) I kind of wish I was hungry because they have some great lunch specials and everything that they brought out look really good. There were a few regulars in there that I talked with and they said that their food is consistently good. The view is beautiful on Sarasota Bay. They have indoor seating, a bar area, and outdoor seating with fans. It was WAY too hot when we came so we didn't sit outside but people were outside and they seemed like they were enjoying themselves. The restaurant is right across the street from Turtle Beach. So, it's convenient to get something to eat right after relaxing on the beach. There were a lot of older people there the day that we went. I can understand why because the prices were affordable for what patrons described as some good food. The only negative was the bathroom was a kind of funky with a pee smell. I was not feeling that. Tom Terrific here with another honest restaurant review. We couldn't get inCapt Curt's so we tried Turtles on Little Sarasota Bay. We got seated right away and we were right on the marina. Pablo was our server and i had a mango margherita and Christine had a Pina Colada. Both were very good. Pablo brought a basket of warm rolls. My cup of lobster bisque was heavenly. My entree was linguini with scallops (the litle ones) and i enjoyed it. Christine had chicken and shrimp and she said it was very good. She told me the lady's room was messy and unkept so i knocked a star off for that. But the food was spot on. Pablo took good care of us and i tipped him $20. read more

Beautiful view of the bay if you can snag an outside table. We came for dinner and there were some hits and misses. My fiancé got the ribs, which were tender and came with mashed potatoes that were good. I ordered the filet and lobster tail, medium rare, and my steak came out medium well/nearly well done. Was a bit disappointing but I'm not one to send my food back so I ate it regardless. I will say it was seasoned well, and the veggies and sides were very good. My fiancé got the American mule which was VERY heavy on ginger, so if you don't mind that, you would enjoy their mule. This is definitely a casual family spot, lots of kids running around to go up and down to the docks below the restaurant. I wouldn't recommend for a date night dinner, but I'd stop back if I wanted a nice waterfront restaurant for drinks and apps. read more

We moved to the East Coast Fl from Sarasota a few years ago. We still return to the West Coast frequently and always have dinner at Turtles. The restaurant has been open for many years and we are never disappointed with our meals. I have been ordering the shrimp with crab meat stuffing for years and always enjoy it throughly. My husband ordered the baked stuffed scallops this visit and loved them and our friend had the tuna which she enjoyed. The restaurant has a nice water view and you can eat outside or inside. Wait staff are usually pleasant and generally provide good service. The restaurant can be very busy; they don't take reservations. It has been in business for many years and could use some up dating. It is usually noisy and buzzing with activity with a big central bar. We recommend Turtles in Sarasota. You will get a very good meal at reasonable prices which is welcome these days. read more

Recently dined at Turtles for lunch with friends. I was pleasantly surprised after not having been there in a couple of years. The view of Little Sarasota Bay is beautiful. The staff is friendly and accommodating and offered helpful suggestions. The coconut shrimp was the highlight of our lunch today. The shrimp were large & Portion size is plentiful. They readily offer substitutions for side dishes. The grouper sandwich was fresh and tasty as was the fish and chips. Batter fried fish was light, not greasy and hot. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. Only comment was , the chairs on the porch are very uncomfortable...if you sit upright there is no back support. I've noticed women placing handbags behind them for support . A good place for lunch well priced. I plan to return for dinner in the future. read more
