Great food, amazing service and fantastic view. We stopped in to Turtles for the first time to check this place out. We were greeted by our server, Alexandra who welcomed us to what was to become a truly enjoyable visit. We both ordered the shrimp and seafood casserole and I enjoyed the bleu cheese wedge salad. The salad was a very generous and tasty surprise and the lettuce was crisp and fresh. We took some time to enjoy the view and also some far distant lightning flashes over the bay while waiting for our entrees. There was a cool breeze making the visit quite comfortable and when our dinners arrived they were spectacular with a browned cheese crust covering the casseroles. We ordered our dinners without starch and opted for double mixed vegetables which were prepared in a garlic butter sauce and full of flavor. Our server made sure our ice teas were constantly filled. Dinner was a definite success and we actually returned the next day for a Sunday brunch. We do live within driving distance so a return will be planned. We should have listened to many of the reviews. Not worth it at all. All of our food was lukewarm. My bisque came out as chowder. Lobster bisque was tasty even for my New Hampshire palate but was even cold. Our server ran through the motions seemingly getting us through our meal and know the bill would be significant. Stay away from the calamari. Positive: the avocado fries were wonderful. The wedge salad looked nice but we didn't get it. I wish i had. Again, I would absolutely go back for a drink and the avocado fries and then go about my day. This was our one night out to eat in Siesta Key this year. Sadly disappointed. read more

We ate here once again during their current $19.95 Customer Appreciation promotion, which was an excellent bargain. It includes an appetizer (bang bang shrimp or chicken), a salad, and entree (choice of 5) plus mashed potatoes and vegetables, rolls and butter. Wife had a key lime colada, which was excellent. The food was great. I had the surf and turf (mahi mahi and ribs) Only glitch is that the surf and turf was supposed to include 1/2 rack of ribs, which would be 6 ribs--I only received 4, and small ribs at that. Server notified the manager and corrected that. We both left satisfied without even room for dessert. This place is a regular visit for us while in the Sarasota area. One note to management--suggested tips on the bottom of the bill need to be calculated on the undiscounted bill BEFORE sales tax is added. read more

Tried Turtles for lunch as it has been a lot of years since we've been. We used to be regulars but the food took a dive. The food: coconut shrimp was good. Fish and chips, not so much. Unsure what kind of fish it was but it was pretty fishy with a dense texture. The poor device is what really got me. Our waiter ( we will call him "C" for first letter of name) takes our drink order. I order unsweetened tea, my mom orders sweet tea. He brings back two unsweetened teas and doesn't return for quite some time, even though he seemingly doesn't have another table in the whole place. When he returns, my mom tells him she ordered sweet tea. He responds and tells her they only have unsweetened but she can put sugar in it. ??? Why would you not say you don't have it when she ordered. For lunch my mom ordered coconut shrimp. When it comes, it is served with fries, coleslaw and applesauce. Clearly it's a meal. She says to the waiter, "this is the appetizer size? Looks like a dinner". He stares at her and then just walks away. We were puzzled. When he returns to the table and asks how things are, she again says " is this the appetizer? It looks like a meal". His reply is "you should have said appetizer. The dinner is next to the fish and chips on the menu so I assumed you wanted the meal". She explains that she didn't know there was a meal Because appetizers are listed first and she saw it and stopped reading the menu. He tells her to say appetizer next time. What in the world?! You are the waiter, YOU should ask! If nothing else. He should only have charged for the appetizer. She didn't eat any of the sides. A disappointing visit. We stopped here on our first day staying on Siesta Key and were unfortunately disappointed. They were out of some of the food we were looking to order even with their slightly limited menu. The food we did have was just ok, about what you could get at a diner. The tables were VERY close together and I kept hitting the chair behind mine. I recently ate here on Christmas Eve because we had very limited option in the Siesta Key area that night. I had been here once prior and remember it not being anything special. We have been coming to Turtles for my parents' anniversary for the past 4 years. They have been coming even longer. Tonight's dinner was fabulous! The service was friendly and prompt. The food was served quickly and was delicious! Mom and I had the salmon. We both had large portions and it was really tasty. The veggies were fresh and delicious. And I loved the real mashed potatoes. My husband had the fish and chips. The portion size was generous and the fish was really good. My dad got the salmon pasta and he loved it. Where do I begin... we called to make a reservation for 12 (I know , a lot of people...) and they said VERBATIM, "we don't take reservations, but if you come at 6:30 we will have a table for you." Well, we showed up at 6:30 and the host looked baffled that we asked for a table of 12, and had no idea. The only options were for us to separate and sit 6 and 6, or separate and sit 10 and 2. Well we chose the 6 and 6 outside on the patio. The whole time we were not only getting dropped on by the condensation through the table cracks from the drinks, but we were getting dripped on from the awning and the AC! I normally wouldn't complain about drips , but when your legs/pants become SOAKED and your shirt has visible drip marks...that's irritating. I haven't even gotten to the food-it was wayyyyy sub par. The crab bisque tasted like Campbell's tomato soup with chunks of crab. It was awful, inedible. The prime rib looked like it was boiled , definitely not grilled or seared, and had zero flavor. Everything else was okay, but nothing that I would eat again by any stretch of the imagination. Our waiter was very nice and efficient, that's the only positive thing I can say. Great food, good service, and amazing views. They have specials for happy hour, early dining, and appetizers. It's located just across the street from the beach. The atmosphere is wonderful and the pricing isn't too bad for beach town prices. Definitely a great place to stop in if you're at the beach. There's plenty of parking and lots of seating options inside, bar, outside covered, and outside uncovered. My friend with me didn't enjoy her stuffed shrimp said it had an off taste to it, but thought the mashed potatoes were some of the best she's ever had. I really enjoyed the orange pecan chicken and thought the mashed potatoes were amazing as well.
