    Sushi and Sashimi Lunch Special
    Megan L.

Glad we got the recommendation from a coworker to try this local gem. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable! It was a 30 min drive but it was worth it to give a local place some business. The workers were very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!

We've been coming here for a few years, and always have a great meal. I usually get the Tuxedo 1 sushi and sashimi combo, while my fiancée gets something from the kitchen. The plum wine is an extra sweet bonus!

The fish was fresh and just right. The atmosphere was pleasant and very clean. Amazing service and everyone was pleasant and very accommodating.

This place is great, and I'm glad I don't have to go into NYC for decent sushi! I've been here several times, and each time we've left pretty happy. The plating and presentation is nice, and the sushi is fresh. The prices are so very reasonable here. The Agedashi Tofu and Sashimi Sampler are good appetizers, I highly recommend. The bathroom is quite small and slippery (if you care lol)

Best spot within a 20 minute drive to us, we typically go to Mr.Sushi in Middletown but have recently been trying Tuxedo Sushi. The service is friendly, fast and our food is consistently amazing.

This small sushi place is serves of the best asian food I've ever tried, and I have tried oh so many. The food is absolutely out of this world, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is cosy and intimate. My personal favorites are Vegas Roll, Pink Dragon Roll, Tuxedo Sushi and my daughter loves the Fire Roll. The list continues with the best seaweed salad, Avocado Ball, and omg UNA DON, paired with Kyoto's Matcha IPA. Honestly it's a shame if you don't stop here. So worth it!

    Vegetarian sushi bento box!
    Suri M.

They invented a vegetarian sushi bento box just for me! Maybe if enough people ask, it'll make its way onto the menu. Salad and miso soup (it's vegetarian, no bonito!), rice, vegetable tempura, avocado/cucumber sushi, and 5 different vegetable sashimi with radishes and mushrooms, carrots, more cucumber and avocado. Yum! Gender neutral restroom and plenty of parking, right by the train station.

It was my first time going to this sushi spot. I always see it on the way home or driving through the town but never gotten the chance to stop. My friend & I stopped here for lunch and I have to say it is some delicious sushi , very fresh food & the service is top notch including the sushi . There's no wait time either for getting food / drinks, really quick service . What I really liked is that they have 3 rolls specials or either you can pick 3 rolls for a really good price that's hard to find in sushi restaurants but I am glad we've decided to come here . I'll definitely come back.

When I arrived, I was absolutely in love - with every detail. I had no idea this place would impress me so much. It was intimate, I counted maybe 8 -10 tables. The sushi was being made right there in front of us. The servers were top notch and knew when to check in and when to leave us to chat. The food was beautiful cooked and plate. Presentation makes a difference!! My friend& I both got miso soups and the premier bento box which came with SO. MUCH. FOOD - an udon soup, California roll, dumpling, choice of appetizer and choice of entree. I went with crispy rice with salmon and teriyaki chicken. 1000000/10 Sushi Bada is a chain so I dying to go to the closer location. Thank you for the best lunch date!

I waited and it took about 10 minutes to fill the empty glass from the bottle placed in front of me. A soft shell crab roll with pollack (fake crab) and fried shell skin empty legs, no softshell crab body, and w t f ROMAINE LETTUCE okaaay. There was scant rice and every bite fell apart. Did they use discarded crabs legs from an appetizer? Cucumber avocado roll had just enough rice to qualify as a roll. The "low sodium" soy sauce was watered down. Anyone with eyes can see that. Okaaay. Won't be back.

We still kept the Sushi Sandwich, Eel Avocado Roll, Mango Hawaii Roll, and the Pink Lady Roll, all of which have been consistently unbelievable. However, we also swapped in some substitutes for the other rolls. First, we included a Yellowtail Scallion Roll, which was a bit small, but delicious. Then, we also incorporated the Shrimp Hibachi, which came with white rice and a clear soup. The broth had a lot of flavor and contained fragrant mushrooms. The hibachi dish had a load of fresh vegetables (carrots, broccoli, zucchini, onions, and mushrooms) and a generous portion of grilled shrimp that were cooked through to the perfect plumb bites. The sauce was lighter than a teriyaki would have been, which was what we were hoping for. Yet again, it was another excellent curation of menu items. Raku has provided some of the best of Japanese food we have ever tasted! The place is a gem!

However, we recently had a craving for sushi on a Saturday evening, and I called to place a pick-up order. The woman that answered the phone was very friendly, and, when I arrived to gather my order, she was just as pleasant. In fact, as I left the restaurant with my food, the sushi chefs even wished me well. In terms of the space, it was definitely on the smaller side with only a few tables, but a decent-sized sushi bar. The atmosphere was casual, but it was decorated nicely enough to work as a dine-in spot also. We had ordered a few rolls to share, and when I got home with the bag, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the restaurant had thrown in two complimentary soups and two salads. The miso soups were creatively served in paper coffee cups with plastic lids, which managed to work perfectly, because, since it was a cooler evening, I wound up drinking my broth like a beverage. In fact, to that end, it was more like a drink, since we only received two small squares of tofu and a piece of seaweed in each of ours. Regardless, the soup tasted good, though the seaweed was a bit off the usual color. The side salads were not great. The lettuce was wilted, and there were way too many onions. The dressing was also a bit more tangy than other ginger dressings I had had. In terms of the rolls, we ordered one standard and two specialty offerings to share. The common Eel Avocado Roll was packed with fish and large slices of avocado, and it was honestly one of the better versions of this variety that we had had. The Super Fire Roll included yellowtail and scallion inside, which was then topped with torched tuna, eel sauce, spicy mayo, and fresh jalapeño. The color of the yellowtail was on the pink side, which at first gave me pause, but research proved was actually fine. Aside from that, I thought it was a tasty roll. Our last one was the Princess Christiana Roll, which had a center of crabmeat, avocado, and cucumber, as well as toppings of baked salmon, eel sauce, and an actual salad with lettuce, crabmeat, and tobiko. Now, the restaurant had a massive list of unique rolls, which made it hard to select what to order, but this one seemed like one of the most unique of the bunch. I had never seen fully-cooked salmon used in sushi, nor had I ever seen a roll topped with a mound of salad. While the fish all seemed fresh, some of the avocado was browning, and the lettuce was once again wilted. In this case, I would have said that the greens might have gotten too warm on top of the baked fish, but the side salad was just as limp. In addition, we had ordered the Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna and jalapeno appetizer, which we just ate along with the maki rolls. The rice patty could have been crunchier and the fish could have been pinker in color, but it tasted fine overall. We agreed that Johnny Roll House had some positive and some negative points. While we had had better sushi elsewhere, their food was still good, which meant that we could keep it as an option if we were looking for a sushi spot. (Speaking of, I should note that they did not offer many cooked Japanese items, aside from Beef Teriyaki.)
