My boyfriend and I love this place! We eat a lot of sushi and even compared to somewhere on the coast next to the harbors this place wins in quality and quantity over 95% of places we've tried. If you like sushi, especially sashimi and nigiri where the fish itself is the highlight I would HIGHLY recommend this place. As with anything, I think it's better if you sit down. I thought I reviewed this before but apparently I didn't. I get here periodically and it's always good. You can't go wrong at Sushi Ya 2. Tonight, my daughter was visiting from out of town, and we decided to go there. I went out of the box and tried something new. I had three different rollsand they were all fabulous. Cute sushi place with friendly and fast service located right by the wine store and Acme in Vernon. BYOB and also has fun Japanese sodas to drink. We started with miso soup and then got the sushi deluxe, pink apple roll, and house wasabi roll. Everything was great and I especially loved the house wasabi roll - never had a special roll like it and it was pack with wasabi caviar. They do takeout but I don't think delivery even through apps. Great sushi - very consistent. I always do takeout and have never been disappointed. My only criticism was the way they packed soy sauce into the big platter of sushi (a big container of soy sauce placed on top with no bag) which caused me to spill it all over, but they took note and fixed that when I brought it up. read more

I stopped by here for a business lunch and it didn't disappoint. Friendly staff, nice environment, spacious plenty seating available. Restaurant is kept clean and organized the times I've visited here. Food tastes great and I'm happy for that. Portion sizes on some of the items are fairly small. One dish is strictly for one person but the food is great. They will also accommodate any special requests, not common at most sushi places. Definitely will return. Located in the shopping plaza in Vernon nj We went for lunch with our children and whilst the food is not the worst ever. It's edible. It just isn't anything to write home about. The restaurant was nearly empty with the exception of one other table of guest and the staff eating. The treasure island was actually the best thing we had. It's the avocado with crunchy spicy tuna. We ordered a number of rolls, hibachi, fried calamari and a steak soup. All of it was just ok. The waitress was not very attentive and kept going back to her coworkers who where eating to talk. We didn't feel like she was paying much attention to us and at some point she also joined them to eat at a booth whilst in the middle of serving us. We will not be returning. read more

We're so happy that Sushi Ya 2 is open for indoor dining again. We've picked up takeout there during the pandemic but have always enjoyed sitting at the sushi bar. The food was excellent, of course. Although this restaurant doesn't seem like much from the outside, it's a hidden gem! My partner has ordered the chicken fried rice and I ordered the Classic Roll, with Shrimp and Veggie Tempura to start us off. It was delicious! The portion of sushi, in my opinion, was extremely small. But it was rich in flavor, tasted fresh and natural, and left me satisfied. Thank god for the appetizer, or I would have still been hungry! However it was a mission in itself to get the waitress to our table to take our order, there were three waitresses and three tables that had people at them when we went. Ordered a veggie hibachi dinner as well as a steak hibachi dinner. I had asked for extra sauce with my meals and they insisted on informing us that the meals already come with 2 sauces. We understood and asked for extra sauce anyways, and offered to pay an extra charge for the sauces. Once I got back home and opened my food this is what I received for sauce! There's less sauce in both those containers then should normally be in just one container for dinner. We had take out for 5 after a ski day, and it was delicious, very fresh and packed well. My flower roll was beautifully rolled with lots of roe piled on. We also had a naruto roll - nice to see riceless rolls on the menu. I had the clear soup with dumpling. It was full of cabbage, carrots, mushrooms and dumplings. I can't wait to have that soup again. We ordered wasabi shumai. I was expecting more spice, and they were a little mushier than expected, but interesting never-the-less. My husband had a king roll, which was a nice combination. The place filled up quickly while I waited my 20 mins for our meal, but they hustled and were very accommodating as I added on some Japanese sodas for the kids.
