I've been to this dive bar several times. Every time I come, the service and the food gets worse. What do I expect, it's a dive bar right?! 25 minutes for a burger, when the people who showed up 15 minutes after me were served first, and my food was cold, and made completely differently from what the menu lists. Dog at the bar barking, could be a service dog, but no vest, and the staff laughing it off. Whenever I tried to flag down a server, they ignored my calls. Saturday seems to be a bad night to come, because the staff don't seem to give a sh*t about anybody before the karaoke starts at 9pm. Very upsetting event and frankly, not cool at all. My daughter is a student at U of P and was looking forward to signing her name on the ceiling as is tradition at Twilight for U of P graduates. She was visiting home and her flight back to PDX was delayed several hours so she missed the signing by 5 minutes. Twilight refused to pull the ladder back out for her even after she told them about her flight being delayed. Mind you, my daughter does not like to impose and she hates asking for favors. The manager, and especially the lady working with her tonight, are very unpleasant people who left a very bad taste in the mouth of a student and her family that gave them good business for 4 years. She was looking forward to signing with her friends all semester so this one stung. I understand the rules, but a little understanding and flexibility for things out of her control would have been appreciated. What a memory to leave with after 4 years of enjoyment. I'm not sure why this place doesn't get the best reviews, but their burgers are great! Their fries and tots are also very good. Cool bar ambiance and the music was on point. Also, lots of different beers on tap. 10/10 will dine again. read more

Where do I begin . I grew up in this bar which why this sucks! WHAT HAPPENED??? you go in now the feeling is this now a college student bar but it can't be cause the prices to everything has been jacked to the moon it's about 40 bucks for a beer and burger now the staff has gotten worse with attitudes except for a couple of ones I've known since I was 21. The quality in food has severally dipped as well. Wings are 80 percent of the time under cooked due to how huge they are. Burgers are good just massively over priced. But the biggest problem is the way they now don't make people feel comfortable. It was a football Sunday sometime ago me and my friends was watching our teams easily spending the most money in the bar mind you the place is dead. When a server comes over and literally shoosed us. Bacon cheeseburger listed for 11.99 were 15.99 and chicken strips listed as 10.99 and were 15.99 . Plus 10% service charge . Horrible customer service, male bartender yelled at everyone to get the "F" out at closing. Then yelled "I told you mother F'ers to leave", for no reason at all. Most unbelievable instance of poor customer service I've ever seen. I don't know whats happened there but this isn't my first really bad experience there. Twilight Room or "T-Room" is a fine place to have a few drinks with friends. They have a couple pool tables and a large Jenga game. I adore the patio out back on a sunny Portland day. They offer basic bar food. I have always been satisfied with the snacks that I have ordered. Drinks are a little on the high side when not on happy hour. Horrible service red hair with glasses! Was completely rude! She picks and chooses who she wants to be nice to. I felt so uncomfortable! Not sure why I was treated that way! She came up to saying she knows my girl friend and that I stare at other females. I never engage or even stare at another woman when I'm happy to come home to my wife! ***THIS IS THE FIRST OF A TWO PART REVIEW FOR THIS ESTABLISHMENT BECAUSE YELP HAS A WORD LIMIT.PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY TO THE END IF YOU HAVE TIME, I FEEL THAT SHARING THIS EXPERIENCE IS ABOUT THE ONLY JUSTICE I CAN GET WHEN IT COMES TO THE EXPERIENCE THAT MY FRIEND AND I HAD AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT I don't even know how to start... I guess for starters I'll say that my good friend and I were very excited about going to pick up our food after placing an order at about 10pm last night, and by the time we walked out with our food our experience had been so messed up that we left feeling angry, frustrated, and disappointed with the way we had ultimately been treated. When we walked into the establishment, we showed the bouncer our ID's and then walked right up to the bar to pay and pick up our food. When we walked up there was an African American woman in front of us waiting to be attended by one of the two bartenders, both white men, one was skinny, wore glasses and had short hair and the other was also white, and had black hair. The place was somewhat busy, but not busy to the point where lines were formed and customers were having to wait long periods of time and definitely not busy for a Saturday. The bartenders seemed to be going back and forth between customers on the other side of the bar while passing the woman who had been in front of us since we had arrived. After about five minutes one of the bartenders finally attended the woman in front of us and then it was our turn to wait. Again, the two bartenders clearly went back and forth between repeating customers whom they seemed to know and were happily assisting them, and yes these customers were white. We patiently waited to see if they were even going to acknowledge us, but they never did and so after about five minutes, my friend had to peak his head over the bar and tell them, "we're here to pick up our order," and even then they proceeded to walk past him one last time, without acknowledging that he had just spoken and tried to get their attention. At that moment it became very apparent that these bartenders were very selective about how they treated some customers versus other customers, and it became very difficult for my friend and I to not feel as though we were being treated like this because of the way we looked. So finally the bartender with the glasses came up and asked what we had ordered and we proceeded to pay. He took our money with no hesitation, didn't give us a receipt or told us if our food was ready or not, even though when we had called to make our order they told us that the food would be ready in 15 minutes. Thinking that maybe they needed a bit more time, my friend and I decided not to ask and simply wait for them to bring us the food on their own accord. By this time we had already been in the establishment for about 15-20 minutes total. After another 10-15 minutes went by since we had paid and neither of the two bartenders had approached us to let us know the status of our order, I decided that I was going to ask if our order was almost ready. Mind you, my friend and I were sitting in front of one of the registers watching the two bartenders go back and forth. So I peaked my head over when the bartender with with the glasses was at the register and said "excuse me," in order to get his attention, but he didn't even acknowledge me and walked away. At that point two African American men were behind me and witnessed what had just happened. They too seemed to be very displeased with the way in which the bartenders were treating them and were starting to get frustrated. When the bartender with the glasses came back to the register again, I again tried to get his attention by saying "excuse me," and this time he said, without looking up at me, "I'm busy right now ," and again walked away. When the two men behind me witnessed that, it was the final straw for them, they put their menus down and walked out clearly frustrated and angry about the way I was being treated. We too, felt the same way, but we're trying so hard to keep our composure because we had already paid for our food AND because we were two brown Latino males at this bar in gentrified north Portland, where we knew that if we made a scene, we would be seen as disruptive and probably gotten kicked out.. read more

Came here on a Thursday - turns out it's college night, and there is CHEAP beer to be had. It is also extremely packed, so if you're [ahem] a little older than college-age, either arrive earlier or pick another night. The food we had really didn't suck - for such a teeny kitchen, I didn't expect anything amazing. Surprising, the Pirate Wrap was HUGE - decent priced, and quite tasty. I will disagree about slow service. For a place as large as this, I saw only two bartenders trying to serve drinks to a million college kids, take food orders, AND distribute said orders. Until you've had to do this yourself, you may not realize it's extremely difficult - and yes, sometimes service will be slow. Cut them some slack - what I saw was really efficient service considering there were 2 bartenders (no wait staff) trying to serve a gaggle of collegiates. read more

I much prefer the onion rings, but know plenty of people who swear by those fries. They pour a mean drink as well! Cheap, cheap, cheap!
