We really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing on several levels. The salon was noticeably dirty--in need of a thorough cleaning. Worse, the technician made racist comments about a specific ethnic group, which was completely unacceptable and deeply offensive. On top of that, she made insensitive remarks about our personal appearance. Very unprofessional. While the basic service itself was okay, the environment and behavior made it hard to enjoy. I won't be returning, and I hope the salon takes steps to address both cleanliness and staff conduct. read more

This nail salon should not be opened to the public and the owners have no business being in customer service. I was not satisfied with my nails. They apparently couldn't do my first set of nails I wanted, or my second option either. I resorted to getting French tip acrylics. The woman who did my nails made comments about my nail choice and I counted several times in which the OWNER was guilt tripping me for being the last customer of the day. I called them several times throughout my day to let them know that I was still coming because I had been called into work. The nails they did for me were not worth the money at all, and the treatment was even worse. I was the last customer here of 2021 and I'm ecstatic to be their first disappointed customer of 2022. HORRIBLE!! I don't like writing bad Yelp reviews, but I had to for this place. I got a full set with gel yesterday and they look terrible. I was going to try and stick it out, but they are just too bad. I went in today to see if they can fix the dips in the acrylic and she said it was the gel, so she filed some gel off and painted my nails again. I told her it looks the same, it's not the gel, it's the acrylic, and I am not happy with them. She advised this is how she does all of her customers nails and they are happy. The other nail lady chimed in saying there is nothing wrong with them. Been going to Twin Oaks Nails since they opened. The gals there are always super nice and very welcoming. I prefer simple, natural shaped, nothing fancy nails that stay on, don't lift and don't break. I am often complimented on my nails and thats because they look great even after 4 weeks (acrylic gel). This is a small owner operated business. Kim, the owner, cares considerably about her customers and her business. I watch her interactions with clients as they come and go. She is courteous and kind. Aesthetically, this place is a run down. They store supplies everywhere. The bathroom is falling apart and a mess. Service was below average. The woman doing my pedicure was on her phone half the time; but she managed to do the job well. It was the woman doing my manicure that has sold me on never going back. This woman that attempted my manicure does not know the difference between an acrylic and a real nail! She tried to remove my nail! I had a gel manicure and was looking to remove the gel and go back to normal polish. After I stopped her from trying to remove my FULL ON NAIL, she started soaking my nails in straight up acetone for over 15 minutes. I didn't want to continue trying to talk to this woman about how to do my nails and how I DO NOT HAVE ACRYLIC NAILS, so I decided to head to another salon to complete the job. I have never had to soak my hands in acetone in my 10+ years getting my nails done and I have never gotten acrylics. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. If there's a good place in San Marcos for nails I have not found it yet. I will continue driving out of San Marcos for all services because I always have similar and terrible experiences when I try a new place here. read more

I've gotten SNS/dip powder gel done so many times between New York, Georgia and now my new home here in San Marcos. This is by far the most disappointing mani/pedi I've ever gotten. This is how my nails look after 3 days. I got my nails done by Kim. I came here because the reviews said Kim does a good job. She is very nice but this is the worst experience I've ever had. It was sloppily done, she would paint messy and use a brush to clean up edges. She used a gel UV clear polish to dry powder nails - which is completely wrong. She charged me $60 for a manicure pedicure that lasted 3 days. Such a waste of money. Don't go here. She also kept saying "if your nails chip come back and I'll fix it for free." Such a red flag, because every time I've gotten dip powder nails it's lasted 3 weeks minimum! Will never step foot in this place again. read more

The girl there was good and careful but was very annoyed with me and you can see it in her face. She did a good job but seemed to not be in the greatest mood. I got the Callus remover upgrade and it did nothing... the towels where stained and discussing. She didn't even top coat my pedicure I was very disappointed. This is a quiet and average nail salon located right next to Pita Guys. The lady who did my nail was friendly and did my nails within a timely manner, I would say within 10 minutes. My complaint is with the gel manicure. My daughter and I went in on Christmas Eve day and I was back in the day after Christmas (2 days later) to have 4 nails redone. We did very little more than relax on Christmas day so idk why 4 nails didn't just chip but totally peeled off but I had to have them repaired. The lady was sweet about it and did the job with no questions asked, but here it is, Friday, and my whole thumb just peeled off. I'm annoyed! Additionally, all my other nails just look crummy on the tips. Sorry, won't be back. Oh, and it was $28 for a gel manicure. Expensive! Usually pay $20 but they were booked. NOT WORTH YOUR TIME. I got my gel nails done here & as soon as I got in the car it smudged everywhere. I didn't even know gel nails could smudge considering they are supposed to be fully dried under the UV light. To make matters worse when I went back in to get it fixed the lady said it was my fault for touching things too soon and refused to fix or refund me. I've been getting my acrylic nails done for 7 years now and never have I had gel smudge like this.
