It's a really cool place on the river with some neat artwork and sculptures, great food, and a friendly attentive staff! The velvety Milwaukee chowder was top notch with a superb blend of flavors. On top of that, the crab cakes (with a real emphasis on the crab meat, not fillers and spices) were fantastic with and without the yummy sauce they came with! For dinner, I had the blackened grouper special that was seasoned and cooked better than any I've had before! The Key Lime pie was one of the best in Milwaukee, and the bread pudding was huge with a week executed caramel drizzle that didn't overpower it or make it rediculous gross like so many places that try too hard to impress diners. I'm definitely coming back and working my way through the menu! The staff was great, empty dishes didn't sit around too long, drinks were refilled promptly without having to get their attention, and it never felt too invasive or annoying. The place has two big parking lots, a cool outdoor dining area, and a bunch of access to river docks where they apparently rent kayaks and other water toys. Looks like they have a nice sized sandy area for volleyball too! Can't wait to see it when it's warmer out! I was enjoying the good conversation with the friendly people I was seated next to, at the bar, and into the baseball game, on one of their many tv's, that i forgot to take my usual pictures of the food! We came here late on a Tuesday night in October. It wasn't busy at all and we thought it might be closed or at least closing very soon. Thankfully we still had enough time before they actually closed up to order food and have a seat. We were seating inside in one of their wooden booths. Ordered a couple of beers and were starving so we ordered a little more than we needed. Food came out quickly. An order of peel and eat shrimp, good maybe slightly overcooked but not bad. Boyfriend had the crab cake sandwich/burger. Being pleased with his choice it was quickly gobbled up along with a side of cheesy mashed potatoes. An order of wings with sauces in the side. Wings were cooked perfectly. We decided to try the banana Cajun sauce. I found it interesting but not really something I'd order again. My boyfriend however thought this was awesome!! Went to Twisted Fisherman and sat outside since weather was nice. The strawberry mojito was pretty tasty and the piña colada was delicious. We loved the fried calamari as it was very lightly breaded and tender- comes with cocktail sauce. The blackened salmon had a slight kick and really good flavor. I didn't like the coleslaw side as it was a bit too dry for me but the garlic mashed potatoes were pretty good just very rich. Our waitress was super kind and attentive which I really appreciated. They have a large amount of seating inside and outside which is great for larger parties. They also have beach chairs and tables to sit on the "beach" too, in addition to piers for boat tie up. For the main course, I couldn't decide whether to get meat or seafood, so I got the surf & turf which comes with both. The ribs were soft & fell off the bone nicely. Well, it was Easter and most every place was closed. Aside from this place. I had the twin lobster tails special. It was accompanied w baked beans (I think there was bacon in them, very tasty, (I ate them even tho I was fasting from all meats) Also came with Mac n cheese. Very creamy and delicious. Hubby had the grilled chicken sandwich and baby got the hamburger. Chicken was very good. Burger was nice. Too bad our son didn't eat anything but that's how picky eaters are. Super good dinner at twisted fisherman last night! Honestly felt like I was on vacation in Florida when I walked in and it was such a vibe. We had great service and the food was awesome too! I had the blackened salmon with fries and coleslaw. The salmon was seasoned perfectly and had a crispy crust. The coleslaw was interesting with green apple slices in it and the fries were pretty yummy too! I'd love to try again before the weather gets cold. Went here for a buffet lunch with a group. Probably not the occasion to sample the food (Tilapia, chicken, carrots, broccoli, beans, and a salad), but it was decent and filling. Clearly a place, when the crowds commence, it's going to be screaming time, and the acoustics won't allow a conversation. When the weather is good, however, the outdoor tables on the deck above the Menomonee River create a special setting, although on Friday nights the ample beers might make you believe it's Nirvana, even if you don't understand anything anyone says. It's a perfect spot right on the river for a mid boat snack and/or drink or an evening cocktail hour spot. The vibe is very authentic beachy- as if you were on an island or on the beach in Florida. The drinks were great. We enjoyed the chairs by the water on the sand with a cocktail while we waited for our table. The food was pretty good, I wouldn't say it's my favorite food in MKE but that's not what I was there for- I was there for the vibe. been talking up the walleye for about six years but never really had the opportunity because we live a bit south of here... like 600 miles south. but I'm in town for work (and a Yelp thing) and the cutest of chicks is visiting for a few days so off we went on a fish hunt with advice from the desk clerk at the hotel... a short but turny drive gets us up from the airport and into a clean, paved a parking lot. don't see a door so we try the other less improved parking lot and still no front door but there is a backdoor and it leads to a fanciful bar strung with sparkly festive lights: the reggae-heavy overhead blending nicely with the 12° wind chill outside :-[ got in, got seated, got menus and water and the smoked trout dip to start; comes out looking like a giant ball of tuna salad on greens with a bunch of crackers beside. It's a little salty for our taste but maybe it's supposed to be like that... still, nicely trouty and a bit smokey :-) while waiting for our dinners. MLB's pan seared walleye came with steamed broccoli and cheesy masheds. she remarked on how light the walleye is and nodded in agreement about its overall goodness; light, flakey, delicate. she had a taste of mine (original plan was grilled or broiled but I accidentally got blackened plus slaw and cheesed mac) and liked it as well. our evening was a great success!! fabulous food! interesting surroundings! warm and friendly barkeep! a bit of swag and an invitation to return!! thank you Brian for the hospitality that made Milwaukee famous, my lovely bride felt totally welcome :-) and we'll try to make it back. read more

The location and atmosphere of this place are primo. It is right on the river and has a Caribbean resort vibe, so it's a good time! I've had some great food here and some not-so-good food, so I guess I could say they are inconsistent. I had to go back when my son raved about the crab cake sandwich. He wasn't wrong - it was absolutely fabulous! I think the secret is that they blacken it for extra crunch and flavor. Just delicious! We also got the coconut shrimp which were great. My reviews are normally about food. This is about restaurant service and how not to treat customers. Walked in with spouse for early dinner on a Saturday evening. Stood for ten minutes about 3 feet from bar. Two waitresses recognized we had entered. Bartender had one customer at the counter. The two waitresses decided their conversation was more important than offering us a place to sit. Owner should have serious discussion with staff on how not to treat people. Would be willing to edit review with an apology and explanation. Would never return to a restaurant which clearly does not value customer service in its most basic form...recognizing its guests. The inside of the restaurant is small, but they have a lot of sitting outside on their deck & tent area setup for sitting as well. They have an wonderful atmosphere, play live music outside on certain times , great view of the water & the view of people boating & more. We were greeted & gave them our number for us to wait for our table which was 25mins. We did see open tables inside but assumed they did not have a lot staff to serve in that section. Our waitress Ashley was amazing friendly & great suggestion on the secret drink not on the menu called Firefox. Our food portions were huge & was surprised that our appetizer's & dinner came all @ once. We do prefer appetizer's first & dinner afterwards though. Our raw oysters & cheese curds were good. We had the seafood pasta, chicken pasta & they were both not seasoned at all. We had to add our own salt & pepper which was disappointing (please season all your food w/ no salt, pepper, garlic or something). Our drinks were great which I had the strawberry Margarita (not sweet), blue moon & the Firefox. Our suggestions to the cook staff & owner: to please add seasonings to all your food & speak to them about the importance of taste when the right seasoning's are added. Couldn't have been more pleased with my first Ice Camp Dome Dining experience at Twistd Fisherman! I found out about this from an online OnMilwaukee article highlighting this intimate experience with 6 or your friends / family. What could be better than dining with your friends in a heated dome during the cold months right by the Milwaukee river with festive holiday lights? I didn't even realize they had a holiday festive lot photo section right by the water. The outdoor dome area with decorations made the experience memorable. The experience started off with a complimentary drink from their Ice Camp drink selection, it had a nice variety, not too big or too small a list, just appropriate to let you decide and no gave analysis paralysis. The bartender was friendly and helpful. I had an error in my reservation and he tended to the update right away and updated the number of attendees without scolding me for getting my reservation inaccurate. To dine in one of the domes, one must do a reservation in advance and pay the $30 fee which comes with the complimentary drink for up to 7 of you and your friends. The dome I was in was heated. You could potentially seat up to 8 depending on the size of your people. As far as the food, they had a reasonable selection of items. Most of them are seafood and a few non seafood. Come here for the ambiance, seafood, and drinks, not for a plethora of non-seafood. I would really like to request that all restaurants NOT offer plastic straws. Sure, there are other bigger things to worry about, but that is something worth considering! And this is something I will continue to notice for all places. I ordered the seafood pasta. It was plenty of food for me. I liked that it had the cute mussel fork to help me take out the mussel from its shell. For a divey-esque riverfront bar/restaurant, the ice camp definitely upgrades the experience. It's kind of quirky and adds character to Milwaukee. I like it and would come back! read more

My family and I frequent the Twisted Fisherman in the summer. With my parents keeping their boat docked there all season, we quite literally call Twisted their "yacht club." I've had many solid experiences here, and a few poor ones, so it's evened itself out in my book. I had to take to Yelp to post about my most recent visit because I'm still talking about the meal I enjoyed! I met my fam there the day they were putting the boat back in the water and it also happened to be one of the first times people could eat on Twisted's patio, post-quarantine. They've got a great deck filled with yellow picnic tables so we snagged one of those. Thumbs up for the drink specials, always. I had my fave - Deep Eddys lemon vodka and soda - can't go wrong. The blacked tilapia sandwich is normally my go-to, but they had halibut on special that I couldn't pass up. It came to the table and to my surprise, it was a huge portion. A thick, blackened, and well-seasoned piece of fish to make all of my seafood dreams come true. The meal came with two sides so I went with broccoli and baked beans. Our server, Lisa, was great and super friendly (+ wearing a mask). They were clearly shortstaffed, but with a little patience, it was still a good experience.
