I love the food here! It's always amazing and in true Cajun style. Dining out on the patio overlooking the water is wonderful. The service is always spot on and sitting at the bar to eat is fun to talk with the locals. They always have some sort of spicy pasta-which I love!

This place is amazing for a unique dining experience. They have amazing options for breakfast and dinner. Our server, Arie, was wonderful. He took very good care of us every time, no matter how big the party was. The atmosphere is romantic, which is great. We will keep coming back.

Nice patio, my wife had blackened whitefish with dirty rice, I had the fish fry, both were good but the coleslaw was too spicy and the tartar sauce wasn't good (maybe a little pickle relish would make it better) service was ok. Second time my wife had the burger and I had red beans and rice which I really liked, but it needed some bread with it to soak up the sauce, reasonably priced and good portions.

I tried Fishbone's and sat outside on their back deck. Easy to get a table outside since we went early. Service was great and our waiter was very helpful. I started with a pineapple margarita which wasn't too sweet which I enjoyed. We ordered a bbq shrimp with grit cake special which was ok. Great size to share but wasn't our favorite. I got the ragin' Cajun pasta which had a ton of shrimp, sausage and chicken, but it was a very heavy meal. We ended with key lime pie which was great!

Great flavorful, food friendly staff, generous portions & reasonable prices. Fun zydeco vibe with music on the loud side. Great view from the deck of the lake. A great place to go for Sunday brunch!

I used to really love Fishbones. We used to make it the place for family celebrations like birthdays and anniversaries. But it's been a few years since we've been there and after the meal tonight I don't think I'll be going back. Most of the food was just bland bland bland. The Crispy Korean Shrimp tasted more like a basic chili shrimp you can get anywhere with rice drowning in soy sauce. Hardly any taste of gochujang and a missed opportunity to use a bulgogi type marinade reduced down as the sauce for more depth of flavor than just salt with soy sauce. My wife had the blackened ribeye which was bland, hardly any flavor which is hard to do with blackening seasoning. The garlic mashed didn't taste like any garlic at all. The brussel sprouts were just dry. What used to be big bold flavors that my family loved has become no better than what I expect from a food court serving bourbon chicken. The waitress was great which is why I'm giving two stars! Im so disappointed since I have about 50 people coming for weekend this August and I was planning on recommending Fishbones for them to eat. Not anymore.

Came on a Monday night with a friend. Food: Really like the menu. Lots of diversity to choose from, and the prices are reasonable. We started with a couple of specialty cocktails. I had the Sazerac, and my friend had the OG Old Fashioned. Both were well made, and there was plenty of alcohol in each. For an appetizer, we got the Frogs on the Mound, which, as you can imagine, is 1/2 lb of frog legs on haystack onion rings. I haven't had frog legs in a while, and I thought these were very good. The breading was light, well seasoned, and not overcooked. The haystack onion rings were just okay. They could have been hotter and maybe seasoned (or just salted) a bit more. For our entrees, I got the Blackened Catfish, and he got the Grouper Tacos. Both of these meals were also very good. The blackened fish was the best part of my meal. It was excellently seasoned, cooked to the right temperature, and moist and flaky. Delicious! The collard greens were good, but would have been better with just a bit more pork. More pork is always better. The rice and beans were good too, but the temperature was less than hot. My friend enjoyed his Grouper Tacos, and the bite he shared with me was very good, except for the green peppers. I much prefer orange or yellow peppers, but I realize that's a personal taste issue. The tacos tasted fresh, the fish was tender, and the portions were good. Service: The place was about a quarter full. Even though we weren't in a hurry, the service got off to a bit of a slow start. After getting waters and menus, it took a while for our server to get back to us. I started to worry that this might be an issue for the rest of the evening, so I made a point of getting their attention. After that, things went smoothly. After ordering appetizers and entrees, the food came out in a timely fashion. All the staff we interacted with were helpful and friendly. Thanks, Sarah 1 and Sarah 2 :) Atmosphere: Besides the separate bar area, the dining room is a big open space with lots of four-top tables spread around. Around the walls there are posters, art pieces, and plenty of Mardi Gras beads. I wasn't sure at the time, but there was something a bit cramped about the interior. After looking at the pictures, I think it might have to do with the low, tiled ceiling. (I think this is the first time I have ever mentioned something about a tiled ceiling.) On this night, it was quiet and easy to have a comfortable conversation. Glad that we finally stopped in for a meal. With the exception of the initial service delay and some small issues with a couple of food items, it was a very good meal. Would definitely want to stop back again to try other parts of the menu.

Okay, I'm going to dish in a second. But overall - Maxie's…read moreis a super cool vibe. The colors, the well-placed low lighting, the appropriate volume of cajun music ... all done in excellent taste. The waitstaff is INCREDIBLE. They all seem to be having a great time, when it's slow, and when it's busy, which is important to see; plus, they help each other out. Waiters, bartenders, bussers, hosts, food-runners - they're often smiling and helpful to anyone. Not only did our waiter Scotty take amazing care of us (a group of 10 on a Saturday night, all arriving at different times; and he had many other tables besides us), but his teammates helped bring drinks, clear the table, and our deliver our food. Everything was timely, fresh, and as far as I know, no errors were made with drinks or food. We were all quite satisfied with our meal. The reason I give 3 stars is, for some reason I do not understand, near the end of our meal, we heard a man yelling quite loudly from the kitchen area AT OUR SERVER. The man (manager I assume) was insisting that Scotty was not attentive to us (and I can't discern a single reason why this would be claimed). Even if he noticed something we didn't -- it could have been a moment of quiet criticism, but this dude turned it into a screaming fit. And he could not have been more wrong. In fact overhearing this exchange (right around the corner, within full earshot of us and the back half of the restaurant) was the ONLY thing that soured our otherwise amazing experience. We then watched who I assume was the same guy (red-faced and angry) sit down at a table very close to us, and our server return a moment later somewhat shaken up. It was awful. We made sure to congratulate him loudly on his impeccable service after that. I don't know if the manager heard or not. But one can hope. This was not my first time here, but it was the first time I've experienced anything like this. Like I said, the team seems solid, our service is always timely and kind (and often, incredibly FUN) even when they're PACKED, the food is bangin', the oysters are fresh and delicious, and EVERYTHING is well priced & spiced! So we will be back. But we really hated seeing our waiter treated like that. For anyone who doesn't know - waiters in WI currently make $2.33/hour. This is below the federal wage rate of $7.25/hour for the same job. They survive off your tips. If they're good, they're great, and GOD BLESS THEM - they must do what they do because they love people. This manager did not seem to appreciate what he had right in front of him. But we did!!!! GO SCOTTY GOOOOO

Needless to say, it was crowded and lively, but our table was waiting for us and we were sat immediately. Our server was friendly, attentive, and very helpful with our menu choices, which were limited due to their Madi Gras-only offerings, but also plentiful and varied. My husband decided on the jambalaya, I went with the crawfish étouffée, and we split the roasted Cajun cauliflower as an appetizer. While it's hard for this kind of stew-like, saucy, veggie/sausage/seafood over rice mixtures to present beautifully, everything looked, smelled, and tasted delicious. The jambalaya had a little more of a kick than I prefer, but my husband loved it and my crawfish étouffée had the perfect amount of spice without being spicy. The roasted cauliflower was cooked to perfection and was the perfect way to start the meal. Not pictured is the bananas foster bread pudding that was the perfect way to end it. We both left with extra food to take home and the memory of a wonderful meal and great experience.

There was one other group sitting in the restaurant and in the time we were there some pickup orders. Shockingly to us, there was only one person working, but she was efficient. Took a little longer to get the food, but it was definitely hot & fresh. By the time we got our food, we were the only ones there, so we got to talk with the owner, who is from just outside New Orleans. She was super friendly and told us about her style to making the dishes; was fun to hear her story. As for the food, we got a variety with the Voodoo egg rolls, fried okra, New Orleans spiced jambalaya, and crawfish etoufee. The egg rolls were fun to try. They were stuffed with cheese and had pieces of fish and sausage. Not sure if I need to get them again, but worth a try. They also came with a dipping sauce, which actually worked great with the fried okra. The okra was really good with a light cornmeal batter that gave it just enough crispness to the soft interior. The etoufee and jambalaya were both very flavorful. We got the jambalaya the most spicy, New Orleans spice, and it packed a little heat. Just what I needed to clear out a cold. As a person who likes spice, this was pretty good. We've been searching for a good Cajun restaurant since New Orleans Takeout left, and this might be the new go to. They have a short menu, with pretty tasty food, and good prices. Try em out.
