I really loved this place, it's a great spot to get a drink and hangout with friends. The main reason why I think people should come here is because I'm a local and there is not a dive bar in the area that provides this level of service. The bartenders are kind and attentive, you will get a drink without waiting too long and you will feel comfortable and safe. Yes it may be slightly pricier but not by much, this is the kind of place that makes it worth it. I am not a regular but I will be after tonights visit. My local bar being Mr. Cs has disappointment me with their management but this place will treat you 10x better. We came here because this bar was sponsoring an event for our friends business. I had never been here before, but the vibe was good. It felt like a good spot to watch the game on a Sunday. Nice high ceilings - doesn't feel crowded. I thought it was a nice establishment. My job had our Christmas party here. They have an upstairs & downstairs if you're thinking of catering an event, be mindful of the size & see the capacity of people that it can hold. One of the owners was our bartender, he was amazing, and very helpful when asked of anything. I enjoyed the beverage he created for me. Went to a private party last night and was impressed with the service and Guinness pours- done perfectly smooth. First walked in and was asked by bouncer if we wanted the private party, he was cool and just said take the elevator upstairs, easy enough. Nice decor in this place throughout, and looks clean. Private bathrooms upstairs are always a plus. Bartender Katie was friendly and played along with the drunken shenanigans of some of the group, we all know that can be challenging. She also poured the perfect Guiness I mentioned. Nice place for a drink, overall. Go check it out. read more

A neighborhood bar you can walk into without being worried all your vaccinations aren't up to date. They have done very well keeping the neighborhood trash out even with their generous drink specials and it's withing crawling distance from home. There would be more stars if they served food. read more

The Shamrock is THE best place south of the tracks in the Clear-Ridge area. Remodeled from it's Vaughn's days, it's now Classy and clean with THE best tap selection in the area...and all of it ice cold. Good Bottled selection as well. No food, but recently they added a large chip rack (hey, better than nothing). They are not adverse to you bringing in your own food. Upstairs is beautiful when it's open (though it rarely is as it is usually rented for parties on weekends). Fairly clean bathrooms (though the Men's room needs a stall divider and the door needs to be reversed on how it opens (everyone at the south wall table seats can see you pee when the door is opened). A few big screens, though it's almost always too loud to hear any of the TV's when the music is playing. Good sound system in the bar, and has the "Play Next" button on the Jukebox to break up someone taking control of the box with crap (We've seen the bartenders skip painful songs as well). Lots of fun when they have entertainment, can only take a three piece max, but the place shines when there is entertainment. read more

Ok, so I never set foot in Vaughn's. Nor will I. But this place is all right. They have Woodpecker on tap with Magner's on bottle, so if you want a snakebike, it's gonna be 4.25 and Woodchuck. A prerequisite for Adrian W to give any bar a four star treatment follows: 1) free rounds (notice, plural) 2) barstools 2a) a slight stand for your feet to rest on 3) a hook for a coat to rest on underneath your elbows (shady motherfuckers are everywhere) 4) obviously, service. this bar reaches all those criteria and then some. Frozen glasses and a variety of beers on service, some thirty. I don't know what the special was for tonight, but I didn't care, since I don't have to go to Quigley's to get a decent snakebite. New wood, fresh faces with some old peppered talkers in the mix makes this a repeat for me. read more

With so many bars in the area, there is really no reason to ever walk into this place. They offer nothing in terms of specialty drinks, just beer, shots and mixed drinks, but good luck getting even that because the bartenders will take over 15 minutes to serve you even if it is not busy. There are a lot of regulars here and bartenders will ignore you to have conversations with friends and regulars, or even text on their phones rather than acknowledge you and serve you a drink. This was the first time going to the twisted shamrock. At first glance it seamed okay. But when I tried to get serviced, I got ignored. I waited 15 minutes and the bartenders did even try to hide that they were ignoring me. Minorities are not allowed was clearly echoed. I left after 15 minutes. read more

I really want to like this place because it's close to home, there's a good beer selection and the reasonable prices. So, why is it that my husband and I were charged different prices for the exact same order? I ordered a Stoli-raspberry with soda and an Absolute Vodka with Redbull and was charge $9 ( $2 tip). My husband was charged $11 for the exact same order ($2 tip). Both are very affordable prices for 2 drinks. So, why the discrepancy? Perhaps because of gender? Or is it because my husband's English is heavy accented and mine is not. Either way it is WRONG! Also, one of the bartenders, the one who shifts back and forth from one foot to another like a figity junky, has no concept of customer service. He is transfixed with texting and I guess has no perifial vision to notice customers standing at the bar to order drinks and give him tips IF he provides fast and friendly service. Owners need to focus on customer service! They seem to be more interested in using their place of business as their private watering hole/performance stage instead of a money-making-business! read more

Only been here once so far, but here it goes- You walk in and it SMELLS brand new. GOOD brand new, like new-car smell. Outstanding. If you like construction/home improvement, you'll love the fresh paint, varnish, wood and plastic emitting fumes, etc. Beautiful place, everything new. Certainly a great selection of beer and booze. Great jukebox too. If you remember Vaughn's, then this is 500% better. Vaughn's used to run out of booze and toilet paper(ridiculous). The ONLY mind-boggling thing is the Men's Room. Vaughn's old set-up was crap, and you'd figure the improvements would be obvious. Well, as mentioned in the previous review, there's a urinal and a toilet. Now, I never owned a bar, but it would seem to me that the idea would be to do a quick turn-around with the customers. Spend more time drinking and less time in line, right? I mean, put in a line of urinals, or a trough. Basically, it's for one person at a time because of the set-up. WTF were they thinking???? It was closed forever and the new owners worked so long on this and they overlook the bathroom situation?? At least section off the shitter. What? Is everyone going to be doing blow in the stall? UGH! Still to be seen is how the weekday nights are and weekend crowds. Used to be pretty good as Vaughn's, let's see what happens. read more

I've hosted two private events upstairs. The staff is friendly and courteous and catered to our needs to make it as pleasant as possible. The bar itself has beautiful wood throughout, best neighborhood tavern. Drinks are fairly priced and the bartenders will help you get a tasty drink. read more

The interior is alot better and more up to date than I thought when I drove past this place. It is way better than some of the other neighborhood dives in this Midway airport neighborhood. The sounds of the railyards on a warm windy night made this place kinda of spooky and it does have a look of some out of state strange area. I couldn't beleive I was still in Chicago. This a a typical Irish bar and is really a neighborhood bar. The crowd was a all men and made me feel of an era of long ago where only men went to bars. Good evening. I go by the "Pudgy Kid with curly hair" and I have been known to go by "Hell-Even the Fat kid." I'd like to make an announcement that we are currently looking into changing the wristband dilemma. Starting this February, we will have them in pink, lime green, and black to make our color option more versatile. Also, we are cutting the weight of the wristband in half because MAN those things get fuckin' heavy! They will now way less than a pinhead, but still more than a sheet of paper. Sorry, but we're trying our best here. In other news, the Local 4 Barback's Union will be holding a metting in an alley on Armitage. We've been put down to long and its time to regain our ROAR!!!
