Wonderful little place, very friendly owners and great service. We had different shrimp dishes and all of them were wonderful and cooked to perfection. The highlight personally was the shrimp tacos, those delicious shrimp with that sauce... Yum! I hope we get the chance to go back before heading home. read more

To start, the service was great. The guys working were friendly and had great suggestions (don't sleep on those fried Brussels sprouts!). The food came quickly and was fresh, well-seasoned, and absolutely delicious! My husband got the fried shrimp and was beyond happy with it. (He hasn't stopped talking about them. Ha!) The kids got the chicken tenders. My girl ate them up while my boy kept stealing shrimp off his dad's plate. ;-) My grilled shrimp tacos were SO GOOD. The mango salsa was perfect with them. I swear I could eat that every day! (I skipped the sauce that comes with it because I'm not a mayo fan.) Cute outdoor seating, but we were looking for some cooler temps so we opted for indoors. The food and service was so good! Sad I didn't get a photo, but the shrimp rice bowl was delicious. We came in late - just before "closing" and the waiter brought us in with no hassle. The chef was very friendly but they allowed us to eat without rush. The restaurant has a dive feel and is a little kitchsy, but we loved the vibe. Best restaurant on Islamorada Key! What's not to love when you can enjoy the freshest seafood, perfectly prepared, and served by the friendliest folks around? The atmosphere is buzzing with fun, offering both inside and outside dining options. I wish I lived closer, but whenever I'm in the area, this is my go-to spot. If you're browsing through restaurants to stop by in the area, this is the one. We just had the most magical time here! The service was exceptional and the food was amazing. Crab cakes seasoned to perfection with fresh crunchy veggies and the BEST coconut shrimp. The desserts are wonderful too. Everything is so fresh! Super cute spot inside and out, and easily accessible from the highway. They made my husband's birthday lunch so very special. The staff is kind and lovely. They extend great care to every detail of their business and it shows. It's our first day in the Keys in a very long time and we felt so warmly welcomed back here. read more

4 stars. Not because of what we ate...but because what we came for was not available. Two other couples besides us came for the shrimp and grits. But there were no grits. Shrimp LOOK amazing. Had the Spicy Rice Bowl with blackened Mahi and Grilled Pineapple Salsa. It was EXCELLENT. Beer unavailable (no license yet) but allowed us to bring in our own at no charge. Hole in the wall atmosphere...excellent wait staff and friendly cook. Flatware...need a higher quality plastic utensil. No sour cream for the quesadilla. read more

YOU HAVE TO EAT HERE. The food is great! Some of the best shrimp and grits I've had! The service is quick and friendly. Spend the money. The only thing that needs improvement is mosquito management. The indoor space is small so if you are unfortunately stuck outside, be sure you are slathered in mosquito spray or stickers. Bathe in it. The mosquitos are heavy here. read more

We were so happy to see that Twisted Shrimp was open this weekend during our quick trip to the keys. Gluten free breaded shrimp with fries and roumalade sauce continues to be my favorite. Wonderful experience. Typical Keys restaurant, unassuming from the outside and simple and small inside with BIG food taste cooked up by Chef Carlos and served by Simon with a friendly smile and helpful suggestions. We had the shrimp basket, shrimp Po' Boy and sides of Brussels sprouts, which are outstanding. The shrimp delicately coated and expertly cooked. Easy to overcook shrimp but these were perfect. What a wonderful place! The food is delicious and the service is friendly and impeccable. My husband is celiac and the menu here is full of gluten-free options! They have a dedicated fryer so we were able to enjoy breaded shrimp, fish, and French fries. The fish dip and Brussels sprouts were also delicious (and GF!). You won't be disappointed. We enjoyed sitting outside under the lights. If visiting the area, this should be a must visit establishment for lunch or dinner. read more

This place was hands down top food spots on the way down to key west, top 1 for me just cause of their crab cake! They have all the seafood you'll be craving in the keys, it's fresh, it's not tooooo pricey and it's delicious. Def top 3 places for crab cakes I've ever been too, shrimp was delicious too, they got beer for some good vibes and key lime pie for a happy sweet ending. Def recommend and wish i were down south more to eat here! read more

Celiac TRUE gluten free safe! Kim and Steph are phenomenal. Steph was friendly and personable upon our arrival. She was knowledgable about food allergies and answered any questions I had. They have a dedicated GF fryer. I had the BEST fish and chips-- and not just any fish MAHI! Best GF fish and chips I have ever had as a celiac. My husband had fish tacos (not celiac) and raved about them. We are absolutely coming back here before we leave the Keys. Highly recommend to anyone-- but especially those with a gluten allergy. On our way to Key West, we stopped by this spot for a quick snack and ordered the Coconut Shrimp Basket with Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were delicious, but the shrimp had a bit more coconut than we preferred. The place was empty when we arrived, giving us a chance to check out the interesting historic pieces displayed on the walls. You cannot go wrong with a stop at the Twisted Shrimp. Easy to miss but worth turning around for it. Try the twisted shrimp tacos or shrimp and grits. Stopped on our way to Key West and was a great start to our vacation. read more

If you have ever had spare rib tips from a New York Chinese spot where they cook the meat right and then just ladle sauce over it at the end, you know what I mean. I prefer the sauce to be part of the experience, not an afterthought. The Caesar wrap was fine. I consider myself something of a Caesar salad critic, and this one was basic.
