This adventure was a very pleasant twist in checking out what we thought would be the Tiki Hut that was famous back in Holiday Isle days. I hadn't been to this spot in over 10 years and wow, stuff changed. Little Limon recently opened on October 3rd. Islamorada is the perfect halfway point to unwind on road trips to and from Key West. They added a second floor from the original Tiki Hut which gives you the most peaceful and serene ocean view, perfect with an exotic brew. I went with Toña Cerveza, a smooth Nicaraguan beer that goes great in the sun. We tried the El Patrona Tower -- an elegantly presented mix of oysters, shrimp, and crab claws with cocktail, tartar and a chopped onion sauce. This was a delicious experience to conclude the weekend vaca.

Beautiful view!! Great drinks! Karina and company were so friendly and fun. She made killer Pina Coladas and the very best Mojitos! The Snapper Ceviche was fantastic. Did I mention the beautiful view??

Amazing food! This place was recommended both at Yelp and Google and didn't disappoint!read more

Food: There were six of us, and we ordered a mix of different items. Everything was very good, super fresh, and each dish looked like it was prepared with care. Of everything we tried, the Pork Belly and Grouper Cheeks buns were outstanding. Each featured slightly different pickled vegetables and sauces, which made them especially memorable. The Tempura Shrimp was delicate, with just the right amount of light, crisp coating. The accompanying squid salad was crunchy and fresh. The three ramen dishes were good overall, although one person felt the broth wasn't as rich or complex as expected. Service: When we arrived, we weren't entirely sure about the process. The lone server, who I believe was also the owner, explained that we could take the large table and then brought menus and water. He had a serious, efficient demeanor and stayed focused on his work, with minimal small talk. As the restaurant filled up, it was impressive to watch him manage all the tables on his own. Most of the cooking took place in the back kitchen, but some finishing touches were done behind the counter, adding to the experience. Atmosphere: The space is small and well organized, with front windows that bring in plenty of natural light. It has a unique character without feeling overdesigned, creating a relaxed and comfortable environment. There are tables for groups of various sizes, as well as counter seating for individuals. Definitely a place we would return to and recommend to friends.

But truly, it's that kind of excitement and life that allows a place like KYU to thrive. People want to be where the action is, and in terms of food - this is there the action is. We had the Chef's Special, and every single serving that was brought to us was a 5/5 experience! Our waitress was attentive and personal, without any sense of lingering or hovering at all. The staff did a good job of dealing with some of the rowdier patrons, and it was clear that this was not the norm, but some people looking for trouble with a bit too much of something in their system. I was impressed overall, and would absolutely go back next time I visit Miami. Probably a top 10 dinner experience!

Even with reservations they were a little slow in seating for a fairly empty restaurant (noon). Ordered drinks (tea $6 and coffee $5) then brunch. Seems like service coordination is very off. My spouse got the appetizer a good 15 minutes before mine. I had the biscuit, that was very tasty. The fruit, granola yogurt was good too. The main of crab Benedict was served, next although already cooled and the sauce a congealed. My main, after a good 30 minutes still had not arrived. Apparently a steak and eggs can be miscooked and they had redone it, never bothering to tell us. I did not try it there. Refills on the coffee were never offered. We took the steak and our cinnamon buns to go since we had been there long enough. The final kicker is they have an automatic 20% service charge in order to ensure the staff is paid enough. Seems like a business problem to me. Service was not up to that high of a standard. If you go during Miami Spice I hope they have figured out how to sequence the courses and get them to the table correctly while still hot.
