I only wish I could give this restaurant zero stars. Bland food, not remotely worth what I paid for. I tried them for the first time yesterday as I was passing through town. I Googled and found positive reviews for the restaurant, highly complimentary of the food. The food was not good and I regret and resent the quality of the food I was served. We've eaten here numerous times for both breakfast and lunch, and this place is just fantastic. Never had a bad dish. Tons of variety on the menu. Literally something for everyone. This restaurant gets 5 Stars! Friendly Service and food came out piping hot. I had the turnip bowl which included the Best Chicken fingers this Southern gal has ever had. My BF got the Pulled Pork Cuban sandwich. We were with other peeps and all loved their dishes... Pecan crusted catfish , roasted chicken and steak and fries... did not get cocktails BUT, the bar was stocked with some Great Bourbon and my fav Don Julio Anejo... thought it might be a new chain restaurant but it is a local family owned. Stopped here on the way through and so glad we did. The steak and fries is amazing! Had the beef and cheddar and wings...all also great. I went in for lunch Friday 2/2/24 and tried the lunch special deep fried shrimp plate w 1 piece of deep fried catfish, w a side of fried green tomato. One person at the counter taking orders, 45 minutes to get our food, bad timing with food presentation: our appetizer came out WITH our entrées that were then in turn too cold to even eat. $56.00 completely down the drain. I found this place on yelp and looked at the menu before we went there for a late lunch today. I ordered the three taco plate. The menu says it's a brisket taco dressed with slaw and red onion. I received three tacos that had a few pieces of shredded lettuce and the red onion, but they were smothered in a gross bbq sauce that was not on the menu, so no chance to omit it. The brisket was really a steak cuts into little bites and cooked til soft but it was very fatty. I ate one taco and spit out multiple pieces of fat. We have been there several times since they opened and for the most part it's very good. If there were table service instead of counter ordering it would be 5 star. The food is not inexpensive and if I'm going to tip 20% it should be for service not just order taking at a counter. Other than that the food is pretty good and unique. read more

The food wasn't that good. Was expecting something better. I had the steak frites and the steak was covered in chimichurri sauce and had been marinated in something that had a word taste. This was my first time to try the Twisted Turnip but won't be my last. I tried the MS meat board and the pork belly street tacos. Both were extremely tasty.
