I earned my Yelp Bacchus badge here! Twas a night to remember. :) It took a bit of exploring on my part to find this place. It is tucked right in between an ACE Hardware store and a sex shop...you know, perfect since I'll be needing some nails and a hammer to install my swinging pleasure device after I finish my glass of wine. My wine-o buddy and I ordered the flat bread and Portobello Mushrooms to share since we were more thirsty than we were hungry. Both appetizers were perfect for sharing and were absolutely delicious. We opted for a red wine flight and a white wine flight since we were feeling a bit adventurous that night (remember? swing installation?). I can not recall the names of the wines we had, but I enjoyed them all. Also had a sour beer to end the night, Cherry something or the other. Oh how I wished we had saved some room for dessert. Sour beer goes great with chocolate! It's definitely a cool place to just relax and enjoy some great company. No pretentiousness! We sat outside in the nice semi-covered patio, where the smokers tend to be, so I had a bit of 2nd hand smoke with my wine...but it's all good - we're all going to go someday, right? The service is attentive and on point. I love the fact that you can sample any of the wines before committing to one. Awesome. I don't drink much... Actually I can't drink! But this wine bar is the one and only place I enjoy going. I am very picky with wine because most wines are too strong for me... But they have Moscato D'asti and Rieslings that are very low in alcohol level. 100 Stars for this Place!!! Let's just say the manager Chris is amazing, and he had the best recommendations for us to try. We got started on the Cheese sampler, with some caramelized pecans, and sweetened treats which was paired with a very nice Riesling! Then we tried a Santa Cruz Pinot Noir, not my favorite, with delicious Portabello Mushroom and Spinach appetizer. Finally our desert went perfect with the recommended Chocolate Fondue that we were able to dip short bread, strawberries, and many other fruits! I love this spot, its definately one of my favorite in the Downtown Fullerton area! I've been here 3 times now, 2 with friends and 1 for a work related event. All three times have been phenomenal, no matter if its for leisure or business, this place is a great Wine location. Their slection of wines are great, and their staff is well versed in the varieties of wines and are capable of making suggestions! :D Aside from wine, they have great fruit, chocolate, and cheeses available to pair them with your favority type of wine...I definately would recommend this spot. read more

Went here last night. Have been here 4 times and each time is pretty consistent. Nice of selection of wines. Pretty expensive, but good. However, it does seem like they have cut way back on the number of flights--or tastings. It seems like a wine bar would have more than one white flight and one beer flight. Anyway, we each had a glass of pago something tempranillo. Very tasty wine although it was about $15 a glass. Also had a syrah ($16) that was really tasty. Food was great as always. Crab cakes are crispy on the outside, a little spicy and the texture is great. Cheese platter was good, but not amazing. The deviled eggs with chorizo are the best. Service is always good and friendly here. It does seem like they were a little more into discussing the wines before, but maybe it was a slow night. Nice date place. 5 stars in my book. J'aime le vin! Staff are friendly, accommodating and attentive. Its a small place but big enough to accommodate a party of 10 I think. They have lounge seating; sofa, lounge chairs across from the bar and bar height tables near the entrance and seating area at the patio. They have a massive wine selections but I would suggest getting a bottle instead of a glass, its less expensive. Tried the Brie Bread Bowl thanks to raving reviewers and I agree its good, different but my favorite is still the Warm Brie from Tantalum in LB, if you haven't tried it GO! Easily my favorite wine bar in all of OC...and I say this humbly, but I have pretty much been to them all (and many a time). So what makes Twisted Vine the best? First off, even though I wish it was closer to my house so that I could indulge more often, its location in the heart of downtown Fullerton's restaurant and bar scene is pretty great. Secondly, the atmosphere is exactly what I feel a wine bar should be (take note, Wine Lab!!). It's dark wood, cork barrels, dark lighting, and casual elegance. But its not stuffy or intimidating or off-putting at all in my opinion. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable and the wine list is very varied with a lot of options, no matter your tastes. They actually have a lot of craft beers too, for all the boys. And not going to lie, some of the girls too. Thirdly, they have some great eats too! The baked brie that everyone else raves about is pretty fantastic, their cheese and antipasto plates are great, and the one time I had dinner there, my pasta was really good too. What more can you ask for? Wine!!! Really good wine, whether you are drinking by the bottle or by the glass. Not going to lie, I wish they had a happy hour or that their prices were less (they aren't overpriced but they don't have any great deals either) but all in all, the staff, the ambiance, and the quality of the wine more than make up for it! read more

My very first "wine" place when i first turned 21... I won't lie. I honestly don't really know what Good wine is and what bad wine is. All i know is that I really liked this place! The workers are informative and suggest wines. I don't know if I should be offended or thankful that the lady always goes " sweet wine, right?" I guess it's obvious i'm no wine professional. hahaha. but anyways what you must try is the... wait for it.. BAKED BRIE! - so delicious scrumptious gooey yummy hot delicousness everything else was pretty standard.. except i do think the pasta can be a little more seasoned. Other than that, this is a great place to meet with your friends, relax, talk, and have a little wine if you're not into that loud, crowded scene just across the street with some fishbowl drinks/ crazy girls grinding on each other. I have nothing but great things to say about this place. I usually come here with my girlfriends to catch up, but It's so classy and intimate, I'll have to start bringing my boyfriend here as well! Service is always friendly. My girls and I LOVE their desserts and baked brie, which is great to share (unless you're really hungry then, by all means, have it to yourself!). The chocolate mousse is VERY decadent, you may get a bit of a sugar high but it's delicious. I have yet to try their other food but I'm sure they won't disappoint. The prices here are also very decent for what you get! The crowd of people that come to Twisted Vine are very mellow, not loud, rowdy drunks or assholes like you'd see at other places in DTF so my girls and I feel very comfortable here and we're able to carry on a conversation. I enjoyed this restaurant. With a party of 3, we sat on one of the sofas during lunch time ordered their cilantro salad, baked brie, portobello mushroom dish. All the food was pretty good, no complaints on food. They all had their distinct flavor and taste. The seating/ ambience was good, server/bartender was great, and I overall enjoyed my experience here. It was nice and quiet when I went, but I heard it can get busy. This place is a real gem. Quality wine and even higher quality service. The staff always makes me feel like $1000000 when I visit. If you want a place where you can actually talk to someone instead of yell over music/noise in downtown Fullerton, this is the place. This is also the place that introduced me to tempranillo (highly recommend the Pago Florentino for any red wine-drinkers). My girlfriend and I were wine tasting up in Santa Barbara county and the gentlemen pouring our wine asked us where we were from, etc etc, and, upon learning we were from Fullerton, asked us if we ever heard of Twisted Vine. "Of course!" Even he was giving them props and he works for one of the largest wineries in that area. I can't say enough good things about this place for anyone who loves wine, beer or a relaxed atmosphere (very nice inside too). read more

Went around 6 on a sat, me and the Mrs. On a date she digs cheese a meat plates and that Brie bowl looked amazing on the photos so we wanted to give it a try. If there was ever a place you and your friends wanted to go to look or act somewhat like a socialite, this may be a cheap alternative. OK, let me elaborate on my experience here. This place has a wide selection of wine. I stress wide because they have an entire wall stacked with different kinds of wines. It's like having a Bev'Mo wine tasting area. I don't remember what drink I got, but it was chilled, but warm when it went down your throat. Amazing. Starting with the baked brie - ORDER IT. It's amazing. Other than that, our visit was really fun and pleasant. It was empty (Sunday @ 12:30pm), so we had great customer service (though he didn't clear the dirty plates/glasses off the table the whole 2 hours we were there). Atmosphere is relaxing and friendly. Parking was easy. As for the wines, there's a few changes that could be made. First, the tastings offered are for reds and beer. There wasn't a tasting for whites, so I had to guess a bit as to what I thought I'd like off the menu. Thankfully, it was a good pick or I'd be out $12 on a 10 oz. pour. We were given 2 complimentary 3 oz. tastes, and both were tasty. Main issues would be the "no whites" on the tasting menu, plus the cost per glass is a bit high. It's a fair pour, but $10-12 average for a bottle that retails around $20 is a bit high, IMO. That said, they have delicious food and wine, and I highly recommend! read more

I was grabbing a drink with one of my cycling friends and we were at Roscoes about to order. She asked if they had wine....i said...wait a minute lets just walk across the street to the Twisted Vine. If you have a friend that requests wine....you can't go wrong here. It is absolutely fantastic in terms of selection, service, setting. It's not cheap but then wine isn't. Also....it AUTOMATICALLY eliminates the college crowd. I'm not a big fan of wine myself and prefer beer. Sweet they have an extensive beer menu as well. I tried one of their dark Belgium Christmas Ales. 10% alchohol. No wonder Santa is so jolly. This is a great upscale spot in Fullerton and the food here is good too. Came here for a GNO! O.M.G. I love the feeling of this place. It feels like a was transported to NAPA Valley the moment I step into the restaurant. FONDUE was excellent! Gotta try it. What can I say about this place? The general ambience is "old world male study" cool. Over sized leather seating surrounding coffee tables, creates private little areas for gathering with friends. High top tables are situated through out.There's also outside patio seating for large groups. Every time I've been here...I've had a great experience. They're always showcasing new wines & beers. Ordered the Pesto Pasta for my main course.... Bomb!!! So tasty. Last, ordered a red wine that Scott the manager recommended and liked it a lot. Service: great service from all... They took good care of my family and I. Waters where always full and they checked on us several times during our appetizers and meals. Pricing: great portions for the value. I love this place! This is my go to in downtown fullerton. I love Jeff and Bobby. Jeff is a sommelier and always gives us the best recommendations. The great thing is that this is friend run, meaning if you go enough the owner and staff get to know you and always make you feel so welcome. First of all try the baked brie. Hands down best dish and the best price. Comes in a sourdough bread bowl, with pieces of sourdough and green apples YUM. I'm a big fan of the pesto chicken pasta. My suggestion is to ask them add sun dried tomatoes. Wine wise I like the Riesling and for beers go for the Sea Dog if you are in the mood for a light beer. If you haven't been here, GO! This was my second visit, and we were not disappointed. My friend and I sat outside on the patio. They had heaters everywhere so we stayed nice and toasty. Also they piped in some great rock music from various artists that we really enjoyed. Our server, Jen, was great! Even tho she was juggling several other tables at the same time, she took great care of us and made sure we were happy and had everything we needed. Awesome service! The food was delicious. We had artichoke flatbread, meatballs in a thick broth with bread for dipping, yummy! And also a wonderful spinach salad. Now for the wine. My friend and I are seasoned winos so we know our way around. We enjoyed a few glasses of fantastic red blends. I made sure to note what we drank in hopes of finding the bottles at Total Wine or online. I highly recommend The Twisted Vine to anyone who loves wine, food and a good time. AWESOME! I have nothing to say but good things about Twisted. 1. Service phenomenal even when the place is packed. I feel as if I have my own personal Sommelier with out snobbery. Jeff is truly a gem and he goes an extra 10miles above and beyond in ensuring customers have an unforgettable experience. The wine and beer list is unique, quality, understandable, and offers many options for the pallet. The food is outstanding as well. I often miss many of the wine bars I used to frequent in Seattle and Twisted Vine is my choice for a relaxing, hip and quality place. I have never written a yelp review but I had to for the twisted vine! This wine bar is the absolute best. I kind of want to live there because it's that good. I love the environment and the service. We decided to sit outside even though it was lightly drizzling but they had a nice covered patio set up with heaters and it was perfect. The service is great and everyone there is super friendly and easy to talk to. (Scott is the best) I don't know what to say except that this is THE BEST PLACE EVER and definitely get the baked Brie when you Go.... Or the chipotle pasta..... Or everything. read more

I got the red wine flight and was very happy with my choice. I believe it was about $17 for three 3 oz glasses of wine. All were very flavorful and good quality. The ambiance is intimate and dim. Their service is FANTASTIC. Seriously, so many different servers would come and check on our table and it was really amazing. As far as our wine's go, I ordered a Moscato (can't remember the name, it was Frenchie), it was pretty sweet, I loved it and would've ordered another glass of white that was a little more crisp and dry but I was driving. My friend ordered a Riesling, and I didn't catch the name. My friend and I ordered a 3 cheese plate (brie, bleu cheese and a truffle cheese), the plate came with quince paste, grapes, candied walnuts and toasted french bread. We also ordered chorizo crostini, which was delicious as well. A server came around and gave us more bread for our cheese plate, we joked that more cheese would be nice too! My girlfriends and I enjoyed our end-of-the-year Christmas/New Years dinner here and can I just say, I enjoyed my time there so much, I remember mentioning to my friends, "I wanna become a regular here." Atmosphere was wonderful! Dark, but not too dark. If they're available, grab a seat in the couch area, really cozy and comfortable. Makes for a good relaxed night with your choice of wine or beer. The ultimate MUST HAVE though is their baked brie! SO DELICIOUS! Service was wonderful as well, didn't feel rushed at all the entire night.
