Discovered The Twisted Vine on a random Thursday night while walking around Downtown Fullerton. Decided to give it a try! Was welcomed into the restaurant by a man who appeared to be the owner. The restaurant has a very relaxed ambiance to it; the mahogany decor really emphasizes the wine bar. They have a variety of drink selections; specifically wine and beer. Oddly enough, I ordered a flight of beer at a wine bar! The food was delicious! Although, we ordered the Twisted Deviled Eggs to share out of the "Small Bites" portion of the menu; they were mediocre- nothing too exciting. On the other hand, the Grilled Flatbread was enjoyable! I met 3 of my girlfriends here for a reunion on a Monday late evening, and we absolutely loved it! Especially for a Monday night, it was pretty happening--it was almost full, but luckily we got the last table! We have only good things to say about our experience :) service was great, our waiter let us try the Riesling before we ordered a bottle! One sip and we were sold. Between the 4 of us, a bottle was just about perfect, if not a little bit more than we needed. We shared the Brie appetizer because we had all eaten a bit before, and it was delicious! I couldn't stop eating it :D the bread bowl that the Brie was melted in was so soft, & the Brie was perfect, delightfully decadent yet it didn't feel too heavy at all! This place is a great little nook to relax and throw back a couple of glasses of wine with some friends. They typically have sampler groups for red wine, white wine, or beer. Pair that with some of the finger food they have (cheeses, sandwiches, etc) and you're in for a solid night. Your wallet will be hurting here though - those drink samplers I alluded to above will run you about $15 each, and the food is definitely not cheap. My gf and her friends love it here though, so for that reason I bump what would be a 3 star review to 4 stars. read more

My friends and i have never expirenced such rudeness. The place was EMPTY, mabye only 7 people, NO ONE sitting at the bar. My girlfriends had a table outside when we made reservations they assured us if it was too they would accommodate. They refused,rudely. We said we'd stand while we finished our first and only glass they said NO ROOM mind you, ITS EMPTY!!! 6 ladies with less then half a poor were not allowed to stand in an empty wine bar. My very favorite wine bar is Bodega, but since their closest location is in Santa Monica and I live in Anaheim, the Twisted Vine is a good stand in when I don't have the time or the inclination to make the drive. I like the atmosphere - it's a raw brick interior, low lights, lots of candles and wrought iron and dark wood. The music can get a little loud for the space at times. They've got a pretty decent wine selection and the staff are great at being attentive and willing to talk to you about what's on offer. I think because the drunk college crowd hangs out nearby they can be a little too vigilant about tamping down any potentially rowdy patrons since that's really not their vibe, and sometimes when you get the check at the end of the night you may feel that what you're paying is not quite equal to the experience you had, but for the most part it's a great place to settle in and order up some good wines and great snacks while you chat with a friend or two. Just don't try to move the tables in the lounge area - for some reason they are very particular about how their furniture is arranged. Last time I was there we observed three groups try to plop down and shift the center table so they could all place their drinks more comfortably and each time about 3 staff members would swoop in and get the group set up somewhere else while one guy carefully shifted the table back to exactly where it was before. It was a little strange, and upon consideration it's possible the management could stand to loosen up a bit. But overall I think it's a good place and I'll definitely be going back. read more

I love this little hidden gem in the midst of DTF! the waiters are pretty friendly (although one time, they were EXTREMELY rude.. but i'll let it slide). The wine is reallllyyy goood! I definitely ask for recommendations because the people who work here know their stuff. The food is really good.. I love the trio dip as an appetizer and the dessert fondue. It's definitely a different experience than the usual bar-hoppin & drunken beezies crowding everywhere. It's a classier, livelier approach to DTF! The place is a little small, so don't expect to get seated right away with a party of 8. I really enjoyed my first time here. I went here after dinner looking to have some sweet wine. My go to wine is usually riesling, but was I also curious about other sweet wines. The server came by and recommended a moscato that wasn't even on the menu! Now, that is what I called great service! I really enjoyed the sweetness of my drink and will totally come back to have some food with my wine next time. The only hangup I have about Twisted Vine, is that patio seating is not recommended, due to the high amount of smokers. It was unfortunate to enjoy some great wine in a cloud of disgusting smoke. One of my all time favorites that I never reviewed until now. This place gets busy and can be expensive if you are a wine snob. They offer delicious baked Brie in a sour dough bowl. He offered three different selections which I got to take turns tasting (he poured so much for each tasting that I felt already buzzed after the third selection), and I couldn't have found a better white wine myself. This is a nice place to have a quiet evening and enjoy each other's company over some wine/craft beer and appetizers without the feeling of being under dressed. The baked brie is delicious but when it cools down it starts to get a bit chunky. The couches are really comfortable and the staff is nice, accommodating and never hard to find and/or flag down. BAKED BRIE BOWL. That's the one thing you have to get here.. It's delicious!! The Panini's and pastas are also all very good and full of flavor. Portion size is more than reasonable, especially at a wine bar. They either can be shared or as your full entree. Their cheese & chacturie options are all tasty and great for sharing with friends! The variety of wine here is impressive and everyone is very helpful if you need any recommendations! Ambience and decor is fitting.. It's a pretty casual place but can also be intimate as they have low lighting... Also, they have an outdoor area which i think is only ok. I think I need to give this place another shot, but I have mixed feelings about this place. The wine selection was quite extensive, and I have to admit that I am not a connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination, but I like my pinot grigios, zins (red, not white!!), and syrahs. I occasionally sneak in a dessert wine or a port, and those can be quite tasty if the mood strikes. The staff there were extremely friendly and chatty since we had sat up at the bar. We talked about the wonders of Napa and Sonoma. Ahhh, wine country! The menu is limited, but that seems to be totally intentional. We ordered the baked brie, which ended up being a very generous serving of the lovely cheese, but the bread seemed stale. Could that be? Luckily, the sliced Fuji apples were a nice little touch and paired quite perfectly. Oh Twisted Vine...why do I love you so much? I know, because you're freaking awesome! I went to Cal State Fullerton and every time I go back to DTF I hit up Twisted Vine with my friends. Maybe because it makes me feel more sophisticated than going to Heroes and getting trashed. I just don't need those college flashbacks. The selection of wine and beer here is awesome, and I actually tried the food for the first time a couple months ago and it was off the heezy. So so delicious. I can seriously go to Twisted Vine and sit there for hours. They should really charge people for overtime. I went there with my boyfriend (because is was recommended by yelpers) and it was just as good as people rated. The staff was nice, the atmosphere was great, the prices were reasonable, and the food was delicious! We ordered the wine sampler, one glass of wine, and baked brie to share (which was more than enough). The baked brie came out in a bread bowl with crispy bread and green apples on the side to dip. I patiently waited for the perfect opportunity to try this place out. Well, perfect opportunity came knocking on our door after dinner one night in the form of my in-laws, who insisted on taking the kids for an overnight stay. Yup, they "twisted" our arms so hard, I am pretty sure we arrived at the Twisted Vine before they got home. I like the Twisted Vine's decor, lighting, couches, bar stools - it was all very inviting. The menus are cool and made of cork. The selections were surprisingly very affordable. After we were seated, our sommelier - who knew that we were still on the fence about the wines we had just tasted - recommended a red blend called "Flux." He was so enthusiastic about it, we trusted him and went for it. Plus it cost much less than the bottle we were just about to order. It was easily the best red we tried that night, and consisted of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, and Petite Sirah. I think he said it retails for about $28 but sold at the Twisted Vine for $38. That's an extremely fair mark up in my opinion. Our sommelier gets 5 stars for enthusiasm. It's great to see someone so sincerely passionate about what they sell. As soon as we ordered, another server appeared with water glasses which were refilled throughout the night. We already had dinner so we only ordered a small plate of cheeses. Next time opportunity comes knocking, which I hope is very soon, I want to come back and try the highly raved about brie and bread bowl. :P read more

Twisted Vine is a very suitable place if you're looking to drop by to enjoy a glass of wine or munch on some scrumptious delectables. I can't speak on their baked brie which seems to be the hot item on the list, but i can attest to their olive plate. At $3 a plate, although small because its a snack sized serving, it's most certainly a bargain and it is also delicious. My girlfriend had the red wine flight; which is three pours for $15. She did enjoy that, and especially loved the last pour. I believe it was sirah, I had a whiff of that and wished I had a glass myself. All in all, this is a place I would like to come back to. I like that it is a casual place for wine, but yet intimate enough for a date. The servers are great, as service was not lacking at all. I also thought the ambience and decor made this place better. Hands down the best Wine bar in So Cal that I have been to so far. I have been going here for years now and have never walked out disappointed. Service is always good, the wine selection is perfect and the appetizers are delicious. The ambiance is sort of for Romantic types but you will always find a good mix of couples and crowds in here. I highly recommend splitting bottles between friends if you are ordering the same wine. The cheese platters are good and the baked brie is special. Their turkey panini is really good too. I hopped onto Yelp and saw that this place had some good reviews. We came here Friday night and saw that the inside was full and some guy told us that we could sit outside because there was a table empty. We sat down and ordered. I got the grilled cheese with the tomato soup and my friend got the Turkey panini and French Onion Soup. We also ordered a sweet wine that was not on the menu called moscato or something like that. I've been coming here since the place opened in 2007 & I STILL freaking love it. We drove all the way from South Orange County this weekend & put ourselves on the 90 minute wait list just to get a spot at this place. The atmosphere is amazing, the waiter's (vitner's?) are knowledgeable yet unpretentious & the wine, my gosh, the wine! I would recommend placing a reservation on the weekends, but all around this place is fabulous. Dang, this place is awesome. My friend and I shared the baked brioche (served in a breadbowl), which came with sliced apples and chunks of bread for dipping purposes. Delish! Then, it was on to chicken pesto penne, which was unbelievable. I think my only gripe was that the sauce was a little too watery for me. However, the seasoning was perfect. The wine? Fabulous.
