Great for ice cream. Unfortunately, most do the staff are not customer friendly. Every time we go through the drive-thru the young lady has a frown on her face and doesn't even say hello. Can't even describe the level of awkwardness. It's a game we play now to see if she'll say hello if we sit there quietly for 10 seconds. Definitely training on customer service is needed. Burgers are mostly good, but undercooked on occasion. The fries are either "oh my gosh this seasoning they use is is amazing" or they forget to season them altogether. I hate to be this person, but honestly this has become a inside joke in our family. A bet if you will. Will they put salt on our fries? Even if we ask for salt ... there won't be salt. But on the off chance when we do get salt, they're like the best fries ever haha. We've brought it up to friends and asked for their thoughts on Twisters. Everyone loves them but says the wait can be long. The wait is totally worth it tho! We love the bacon cheese burgers! And I'll never turn down a sweet lil treat from Twisters. Either we hit this place on the best night in their kitchen's life (not likely) or the other reviewers wouldn't know a good burger if it smacked them in the face. The only area I think they could improve on is their service. But, clearly, they aren't focused on much dine-in business (that area is tiny). So, just get up from your table and go ask for what you need. Not a big deal at all in a place like this. My four stars are attributed to their burgers and fries. For some perspective, I grew-up on red meat and potatoes. I ate hamburgers and steaks more than anything else as a kid. I can eat most any burger (once), but I'm rather picky about repeat visits. If I'm not grilling my own burger and in the mood for one, I'll typically grab a Whopper from Burger King. (Their fries aren't worth mentioning, but the Whopper is pretty good for a burger). Steak 'n Shake is tolerable, but not preferred. Five Guys? It sits too "heavy" on my stomach afterwards. Cook Out? Not bad, but it's no Whopper. I'd rather do Wendy's. McDonald's? Seriously? Get outta here with that. I could go on, but I'll refrain. Twisters was a bit of a drive from West Knoxville, but my girlfriend loves soft serve ice cream and she mentioned this place. I was gonna grill burgers, but it started raining. So, off we went. En route, I told her she better enjoy it because I wasn't making the drive again. As we left, I told her we'd be back. We both ordered cheeseburgers and fries. Her son ordered a hotdog and apple sauce. He ate his hotdog faster than I've seen him eat anything in his life (slow eater). I was stunned. When I complimented him he said, "We need to come back here tomorrow." Our burgers were the best we've had in Knoxville. I moved here a few months ago (after regular visits for more than a year) and have been looking for the best burger here for a while. I found it. Before this place, we would make occasional visits to Sam & Andy's in Farragut. No more. They're better than most, but not as good as Twisters. Even their run-of-the-mill fries (which can be had at a lot of places) came out perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper. I won't be dreaming about their food tonight, but we'll be back before long. I'm not a huge soft serve ice cream fan, but my girlfriend is. It's all pretty much the same to me, but not to her. She fell in love with a local place where I grew-up and has been trying to find equitable ice cream ever since. She tells me that we've found it (better than Cruze Farm, better than Cardin's and better than Horn of Plenty). I got a Coke float (no complaints), she got a small chocolate and vanilla swirl cone (that had more ice cream than I've ever seen in a cone) and her son gone a "dirty" (chocolate with gummy worms and something else, I think). If you want a good burger and fries, go check it out. Evidently, the drive-thru is slow (and quite busy). Go inside and don't be afraid to get up and ask for what you need. I really, really wanted to like this place. Coming from Texas (the home of Whataburger - voted the BEST (fast food) burger in the country,I have very high expectations of a fast food joint. My daughter and I went through the drive-through for lunch... Got two burgers (nothing else) and it was $12.00. I'm OK with paying that much for two burgers, but thought I would get something completely different than what I did get. What I did get was an extremely dry burger that was smaller than a Big-Mac. But that burger was D-R-Y! At least a Big Mac has their secret sauce! We'd asked for mayo and ketchup on the burger... either they are extremely stingy on the condiments or they were down to their last jar of each, and they had to stretch what they had to last them for the next two months... They put just a teeny tiny bit on the bun that you could hardly see the mayo or the ketchup. The slice of raw onion was 3 x's as thick as the meat patty. Don't get me wrong, I love raw onion on my burger, but this was almost an onion burger w/a little meat (and even less mayo/ketchup) - (can you tell that bothered me?!). I can say this much - I won't ever order another burger from Twister's... but I will go back to try their Shakes... I've heard a lot of good things about them. I went to Twisters tonight with my boyfriend and his best friend. My best friend works at twisters and service from her was great but the other servers not so much. I walk in the door and immediately get a nasty look from one of the other female servers and that continues my whole time there. She was very to rude to me and the others with me. The ice cream was good as always but the workers at twisters really need to work on their attitudes and being nicer to their costumers. I personally work in a restaurant and no matter how i feel about a person i am nice and greet them and don't act rude towards them in any way. I wish i could say i would go back when this one served was working but I won't be. Twisters staff needs to learn to be a little nicer and how to treat their customers. Do Better. read more

We have been eating here doe years. The ice cream sundaes and milkshakes are great. This is their speciality. We have ate dinner here a couple of times. Most of it has been delicious and worth the price. Wings-good but too expensive. Reuben-overpriced and left you wondering where's the meat?. Burgers and hot dogs- great and worth the price. The banana shake was very good,I also liked the chili hotdogs but one thing I dislike is that they put banana strings in my banana shake.

While I am not a fan of the food served at Twisters, I love their ice cream. It is the closest soft serve place to our house and they do not disappoint with flavor and variety. The staff is not always the most pleasant as they employ a lot of younger workers. My daughter and husband love their banana splits and the servings are a decent size. The prices are not bad for the amount of ice cream you get. They only have vanilla and chocolate but they offer many flavors of sundaes and specialty sundaes. You can get their version of blizzards, plus shakes, etc. read more

We went on a Wednesday night and there were two other tables on in this night. We ordered burgers and a to go order. We were here for 2 hours. Our waitress looked like she was about 17 and was scattered brained and could not seem to focus. She definitely seemed to be more interested in socializing than working. We got a peek at the kitchen staff after a table of teenagers came in and they came out to visit. None of them seemed to be older than 17 and some looked to be around 13. Their ice cream looks to be pretty good but we didn't even get a chance to order that because we doubt it we would get it before it was melted. Terrible service, long wait time, and mediocre food. I have eaten at Twisters many times over the years and have never had a bad experience until today. We pulled up at the drive through window and the boy at the window sat and stared at us for a good minute before saying anything. After giving my order three times and emphasizing what we wanted when he repeated our order back each time wrong. We left with our order exactly the opposite of what we wanted. Ordered a Buckeye covered ice cream which was tasty. One waitress so I had to get tea refill once on my own...but no prob. Aside from the fact that I received an incredibly rude response from the owners, simply because I was frustrated that they were closed earlier than expected, the ice cream is mediocre at best, and as someone else commented, they use knock off brand cookies instead of actual Oreos! They also ONLY HAVE TWO FLAVORS of ice cream, chocolate or vanilla, and it is not homemade! It's Mayfield brand, which uses a lot of artificial flavors and can be found at any gas station. Why pay extra for non homemade ice cream, a mediocre brand no less, that you can buy in the store anywhere, with knock off brand toppings?? No wonder the ice cream seemed so bland and the toppings tasted cheap. Just so you know, I used to go to this ice cream shop all the time about five years ago when I lived in Knoxville on Tazewell Pike. It was completely different back then: very friendly owners, many different homemade ice cream flavors, and decent toppings. The dining room had brightly colored designs on the walls, and the whole place seemed cheery and nostalgic. Even the regular food was good. Now it's all been redone and ruined by some angry, cheap person. So very sad. read more

Poor customer service at Gibbs location. My parents and i dropped by to get an ice cream cone each. we walked in and my dad ordered 3 cones. The lady made one cone came back and handed it to my dad and said here is the first of 6 cones... my dad said huh? he only ordered 3. the lady said no you order 6 in a rude tone. my dad said if he did he only meant 3. The lady said no you ordered 3 for sure. my dad said well i need 3 only. The lady had an attitude the whole time and had a look like she was very annoyed and gave dad my change and came back and handed me and my dad the cones(almost thrown at us) and then didn't say a word and just walked off. I asked for a manager and she smiled and said "i ammm the manager. asked her what her name was so i could contact owner. contacted owner and said the employee said "she was sorry we were so upset".
