I just found this place and already went twice this week. Pictured is the pulled pork sandwich with slaw and onion rings. The batter in the onion rings was perfect. Im addicted to the crispiness. The pulled pork was great with a rich bbq sauce and perfectly creamy slaw to balance everything out. My friend had a philly and it was the best flavored meat in a Philly I've ever had. Literally the next day i had my in laws over and we all ordered to go. I had the Smokey Burger and it was incredible. Huge burger, cooked perfectly. We all were happy with our selections! My wife and I were turned on to the chow hall by a friend of hers and boy, I can't believe we have never come here as we live in the area. It's a quaint establishment that honors our country's veterans with pictures on the walls and discounts as well. You can't go wrong with anything you order but the burgers are awesome. This is my oldest boy, Steve's, favorite place to get a fried bologna sandwich. I try to tell him the best way to order it is to load it up with mayo and leave all that other stuff off. But he's his own man and gets lettuce, tomato, cheese and mustard on it too. My other boy, Austin, is a real turd of a human being. He gets the grilled chicken wrap. Such a shame I've raised a boy like that. I go with the 1/4 pound dog with mayo on the side for dipping. I believe they donate a portion of every sale to veteran causes. Took my wife, 2yr old, and 7yr old here tonight for the first time. The second we walked in the door we were treated more like family than customers. My kids were quickly seated and given a bag full of cars to play with that simply delighted them. Everyone was extremely friendly. We ordered a grilled cheese and chicken tenders for the kids. Both of which were devoured. My wife and I got a cheese burger that was amazing. Toasted bun, fresh patty, fresh vegetables and no grease whatsoever. I also ordered the smoked sausage because it sounded too good to pass up (it was). We will be going back and will probably make this a weekly visit! read more

Today was my first visit, spotted this little gem on my way to my favorite winery. Small place but charming. Had a pretty Christmas tree decorated in a corner of the restaurant. Limited menu but what I ordered was so delicious. I have to be gluten free so that means no bread, buns or rolls, I had the Philly cheese steak, super tender beef, tender onions and red and green peppers, perfectly seasoned to my taste. Topped with 2 slices of American cheese melted. I had to omit the hoagie roll. They also serve up 1/2 pound burgers. I also had some French fries that were very good. Opened Mon thru Friday 11 to 8 pm and Sat 8 to 1 pm. Hope to try them for breakfast one Sat. in Dec. The portions are big and prices are fair. The walls are filled with photos of Veterans so it has a homey, nostalgic feel to it. This is a small joint located in Halls on the corner of Emory and Bell Road. They have 8 tables and a military motif. Also veterans, police and firemen receive a 10% discount. The staff is friendly, I am assuming family, the waitress sat down and took my order. I ordered the Bacon cheese burger and onion rings. The onion rings are awesome, the best I have had in Knoxville. My family is a huge fan of the Chow Hall. There are not many food establishments in our area and when we discovered it we couldn't wait to try it. .The food is always fresh and delicious. Our favorite is the Bacon Cheeseburger with fries or onion rings. The burgers are huge and you get an nice sized serving of fries/onion rings (we share 2 orders for 3 of us.) The staff have always been pleasant when we are there and have never had any issues with our orders. I love that this is a local place because they tend to care better than big chains. We never eat at the location but get our food to go. You can order ahead of time and it will be ready to pick up. They do have an eat in area with a few tables and offer a 10% discount to veterans, police and fire personnel. read more

A great place with Diner style food in large portions that tastes great. The atmosphere is also great. With multiple members of the ownership's family working there it almost feels like going to a relative's house for dinner and it doesn't take many visits for them to remember who you are.
