There are a few things that do need some work, but considering the space and what they are aiming to do, it certainly out of the box, risky, and admirable! I got to come in for their soft opening because I had been following their newsletter for a few years now! (Ever since they had some huge sculpture game pop ups at the art brewery. Also another place to check out!) This is just a review before their grand opening- hope they improve and make even better experiences! The great things: Parking is either in the lot in front, or street parking is abundant all around! The area is still pretty industrial, but some bars and trendy restaurants are nearby. Also its not a far drive from DTLA, so you could always head own there to eat. The card you get to load your 'bits' are fashioned like an old bicycle card- that's pretty neat! The employees are very friendly and energetic until closing time, so that keeps the energy going. There's a bar so that's already a plus for me! If you do get sick with Virtual Reality, I wouldn't recommend getting more than one drink. I can get really dizzy just putting the headset on! Of course the games is what people are here for! They are a ton of fun! They are games I don't think I've seen anywhere else. They have basically 3 sections right now: An arcade/carnival game section, storyrooms (which includes a maze VRL which essentially a walkway you walk though, turning and walking according to the VR set and backpack you are wearing, in which you actually walk in), and the VR section. I don't want to give anything away, but they recently started a meta puzzle where you need to walk around the amusement area to solve them! Super Cool!! Some things they probably should work on: The space isn't huge, so there are only a limited amount of things you can do and go to so it's kind of hard to say its an amusement park. They need a more efficient way to look at your waiver for every attraction you decide to try. They have to ask for you name every time to look you up on their systems and its very time consuming, especially if there are alot of people waiting behind you. They also need a better way to clean up and set people up faster to the VR machines. I waited in line for quite a bit of the time, which is fine, but there aren't any screens of signs that tell you what game options are available to you, and the employees have to keep repeating over and over everything their station offers. This overall, combined with the waiver issue before, slows things down alot. I would suggest they have screens to advertise how much and what attractions are available right about the kiosk of the storyroom and VR sections. Perhaps as they can already put people into the VR stall positions as patrons give their cards, allowing them time to wipe the headsets themselves if they would like, and just play. They need a larger selection of arcade machines. They do have quite a few that are very unique, but I feel that they have too few. The arcade machines are the least expensive to play, so I think patrons will play with them to kill time before going to the VR sections or Storyrooms. I'm not sure if TwoBit plans on having families with young kids here, because I think that might be a bad idea. I'm sure it can get really messy and rage inducing to deal with kids here for both workers and patrons. There also currently not enough to do so kids will get bored fairly quickly, especially if the Storyrooms or VR are filled for that day. I wish there was more of a circus theme going, just imagine all the great visual cues! Maybe incorporate more of their steampunk and traditional items of past, with sculptures of lit up metal circus animals to really bring a feeling of a circus! Perhaps if space is an issue for attractions, they can try to collaborate with other amusement activities around LA to really create some experiences and make it more expansive then the containment of their amusement space. For example, have LA escape do specials for them and vise versa, or a magic show at the Black Rabbit Rose with a steampunk theme - have events featuring technology or circus/steampunk themes at particular venues and host them as events to help businesses which also help them! As of right now, I'm not sure how well they will be able to handle large crowds seeing as how they can be slow to set people up with the main attractions and are a tad unorganized. The area is also coming along so there might be even more interesting things to do there in the near future! Two Bit Circus has a lot to offer -- there is the arcade, virtual reality, escape rooms, old-time carnival games mixed with games that incorporate a cool tech element. Oh, and did I mention booze? Think of it as the Chucky Cheese for adults. Two Bit Circus is in the Arts District downtown, which can feel slightly abandoned and eerie at night. There is a parking lot, but we couldn't find a space so we just parked down some shady dark alley. We recommend arriving on the early side of the evening, since the place can get jam-packed the later it gets - especially on a Friday or Saturday night. You'll need to buy a card (and load on credit) to play any of the games and partake in the fun. Just be sure to sign up for the virtual reality or escape rooms as soon as you arrive since those tend to book up quickly. Each person needs to sign a waiver to play the VR games, which ends up jamming up the line and making for long waits. The bartenders also seemed overwhelmed, and didn't really have much training. I asked if they had Sauvignon Blanc and the waiter basically replied, "I don't know, but we have white or red wine." Then I asked about a glass of sparkling and was told I had to buy a bottle. I was a little surprised, but I'm guessing this is just a lack of consistent training and it being pretty new. There is robot bartender, which sounds pretty intriguing, but it was broken. We ended up playing some of the regular arcade games since most didn't involve a wait. The night we went, the most popular games and attractions had lines that were at least an hour wait. We arrived around 10:50 PM on Saturday night, and we were pretty hungry. But the kitchen shut down early (it is supposed to stay open until at least 11 PM we were told). If you're hungry, there are other restaurants nearby such as the casual Sixth+mill pizzeria, which was amazing and open until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. We ended up just going there after a few games. It was less than a 5 minute walk away. Overall we had fun, love the uniqueness of it, but there are still a lot of kinks to work out. We went here based on instagram recommendations- it looks really cool from all the pictures but when we got there it was kind of disappointing. There wasn't as many games as I thought and the coolest VR games cost like $20. The VR was really cool to be fair- but it doesn't last that long. The drinks are pretty averagely priced for LA bars but I feel like they could've been cheaper considering they weren't a lot of alcohol for like $16-17 bucks, and it's at an arcade where kids are running around. It's just ok in my opinion. Fun if you really like arcade style games but if you want a lot of variety and lots of games maybe go somewhere more niche. read more

The VR experience is amazing. So much fun. I never knew it was so close to our home. I felt like I was back in the city of industry at Speed Zone. They even had my favorite game Centipede. It's a really cool place to just hang with friends and kids will love it. The games aren't like Dave & Busters where you get tickets and win prizes which is what I love so you won't get9 9.i kids hogging the games. They have a full stock bar and food to fill your tummy. You have to try the VR experiences. They have a room where you perform surgery and there's a boxing game. There's also pin ball machines. 40% of the games were broken when we went two weeks ago. The games on the back are $20 each person. The operation game wasn't worth it. Broke down 3 times before we restarted the entire thing then again broke while playing 10 minutes in. It can get extremely packed, which steers me away from coming, but love it- nonetheless! This is a fun date spot for my fiance and I. It can be a bit pricey but if we pace ourselves with a drink and bar bytes- we can spend hours here. He loved it so much, we hosted his BDAY here! We bought bottle services which was REALLY affordable, compared to the clubs. We had a large section reserved and all our guests bought wristbands for 1 hour of unlimited drinks.... things go REALLY messy hahah ppl were kicked off games, there was lots of vomit, but man it was fun! Very interesting concept for an arcade/pub house. Never knew of this place until my friends took me here on a Friday night. Ambience wise; Two Bit Circus gets a 10/10. They do a phenomenal job with the decorations and interior lighting of the place. They have plenty of games throughout the first floor which surrounds the main bar. The corners of the building have a handful of VR experiences and arcade games. Upstairs, includes a hangout area / board games and of course; another bar. Board games upstairs include; giant Jenga and connect four and other smaller backyard type interactives. Major downfall is the price. It's a typical date night where you would easily spend more than 100 dollars and that doesn't include the drinks! It's similar to a night at the fair where it's more for the ambience vs. what you are getting. Not sure what the food tastes like, but I can only imagine it's overpriced for bland tastings. read more

Unfortunately, Two Bit is not what it used to be. Brought my 10 year old daughter for her first time and was pretty disappointed. Many of the games were out of order and the upstairs area was closed off. The staff at the front desk were extremely sweet, however they did not give us any information on how to enter the game rooms or play the VR activities; all they said was that your cards can get you into any of those. My daughter wanted to go into the operating room so we did just that. We went in as the door was open and were trying to figure out how to play the game. After about 5 minutes a staff member came in and rudely told us to get out. We did and after she helped another party to go inside I asked her what the process was to get into the room. She told me to go to a certain desk and as I was still trying to ask her questions she was trying to walk away. Not sure what her attitude was about. We made our way to the center desk around 10:30pm and the next available time to go into the operating room wasn't until 12am and 12:30am for the VR activities which was quite surprising because there was no one using the VR equipment and the place was pretty empty. I went here a few times and recently it seems to have gone downhill. With VR and interactive consoles becoming so common and accessible, this place really needs to do something different to get people coming back. - Parking lot gets full on popular days, but street parking is not hard to find. - Spacious location and fun overall location. - Bits are so confusing. Some prices are in bits, some are in USD. It feels intentionally confusing and a bit scammy. You also get "bonus bits" which are not shown on your receipts, so you might think you have $0 left unless you go scan your card to check your balance. - We bought the 4-person group ticket ($50 each, and you get $60 worth of credit, meaning $40 total "bonus bits"). They only gave us $50 each, so no bonus bits. We happened to notice it after we got our first receipt and noticed our balance was off. They fixed it, but the employee seemed like he didn't know about the bonus bits that were marketed on the site. - After paying for a drink, a bartender told us our card was at $0 and asked if we wanted it back. We said no. Then we were like "wait, we should have like $15 left?" We went back and asked for it back. She checked the balance, and was like "oh yeah, you have $15 bonus bits." The fact that she offered to take the card without telling us we had bonus bits felt like it was intentional. Maybe she didn't notice, or maybe the system didn't tell her about the bonus bits, but either way it should not be happening. FOOD/DRINKS: - Food was absolutely terrible. Not that you're going here for the food, but it was so bad. Burgers were worst than a fast food burger. The mozzarella sticks were not fully cooked. - Drinks were pretty good, bartenders were quick. Good selection of drinks. GAMES: - There's a bunch of really lame 90s arcade games. Having a few for the nostalgia was cool, but it's a decent portion of the games. - There's also another big portion of pretty boring games that felt like mobile games ported to an arcade game. We felt like "this would be more fun playing on our phone." - There were a few games that required your whole body (like beat saber and one where you move around to hit and avoid blocks). Those were fun since they felt like things that you can't do at home. - We played two VR games. The biggest complaint is that the place is really loud, and you can barely heard the audio from the game, which really ruins the immersion. If you don't have VR or have friends with VR, I could see the appeal, but VR has become so accessible that - One of the VR games we tried was a 2-4 person multiplayer shooter (a lot harder to have 4 VR sets at home, so stuff like this is great), but the game was basically just "look around and shoot at enemies" with no strategy and no teamwork. In comparison to other group VR games at other locations I've tried, it felt really lame since the point is that there's other people with you in VR, so there should be some teamwork. - Another AR/VR game we tried was decent, but it started off with technical problems -- the "map" was misaligned to the point where I couldn't see anything. I had to get an employee, who couldn't fix it, so he went to get another employee. - The crane/grab games had really lame prizes, some barely had any left. Seems super easy and inexpensive to find a good selection of plushies. - One thing I was looking forward to was their interactive game show / trivia show. Not sure if they stopped doing that, but we were there the whole night and it was not. - I remember enjoying the escape rooms when I tried them a few years back. But if you're going with just one other person, you can't really enjoy these since it's mostly 3+ people. read more

First visit for all of us and we came with seven people on a last Saturday night. There's some parking in their lot, but I think it's better if you uber over. This really reminded me of Dave N Busters! You walk in, go to the counter, pay for a card with so many bytes on it, then go around and play games, order food and drinks, or experience their VR or escape rooms. VR Games ($12 for each person for the game we chose): We played two VR games (Simura and the penguin game) for the price of one because one of our friend's guns wouldn't work from the beginning of the game. She didn't want to play with people that she didn't know (because they offered the free game for just her), and instead of a refund, they gave four of us another game. We were grateful! I personally liked the penguin game more than the simura one. In the penguin one, your goal is to get as many coins as possible, and you are on a moving platform, which you control. You can also steal coins from other players! In the other game you just shoot at these droid monsters that pop out of the background. The bartenders were really nice and prompt when we asked for water...but like most bars, it's expensive to get alcohol (IMO). The place seemed clean, and every arcade game we played worked. This included tapping the cards to pay for the game. Another nice option is to donate the remaining of the funds on your card. I forgot what organization its for, but there's a red mailbox at the front of the entrance where you can drop your card into.We ended up doing that by the end of the night :). read more

Arcade on steroid!! Two bit circus like it's name was set in the theme of a circus, with stilt walkers with hoops and club juggling welcoming you at the entrance. It's very fun for adults and for kids. There are Groupon deals for discounted rates on playing cards / credit. However they are only valid from 1pm-5pm only. So make sure you are in the time frame. Since we arrived passed those hours, we end up buying a $30 playing card that converted to many bits (credits) and most games ranges from 15 bits to 80 bits. depending how new / interactive the games are. They do have very unique and very interactive games that are both very kids friendly and yet fun for adults. They also have more traditional games like skeeball and pinball games. Those usually cost less credits. To the most interactive game alike all kinds of VR games. For the VR games , you have to sign a waiver and get in line or get a time slot for your turn when they get busy. We didn't do any of the VR game. So our credit actually went for quite a long way. We end up being able to come back with the same $30 card we bought on a second visit to finish up the card for a family of 3. So from that I think the price is quite reasonable. The only thing I don't like about the machines is that they often re-scanned your card and have very little to no indication whether or not they took your credits. So for a few times the machines would scan 2-3 times if not more for the one game you play. I had to go to the customer service to get back my credits. So that's where the 1 star off from the review. Or else it is very fun. I am curious about the immersive VR shooting group games. But was skeptical about me getting very dizzy in the gears. So someday I will go try it. They also serve fast food and drinks inside. But there are too many good places to eat in DTLA that I didn't want to waste my meal of the day here. But for those that wants convenience, food is available, so does alcoholic drinks. They don't have extra masks if yours brakes on North literally throw you out of a birthday party. They make you sign a waiver and have no data policy as to what they are doing with your personal information The staff is great and very friendly but the fact is they make me sign a waiver Is likely because they know there's gross mismanagement. The place itself is beautiful but it run terribly. They basically want to be able to create dangerous conditions all over the place and have immunity from lawsuit when they act negligently. I don't recommend coming here. The line for beer is ridiculously long. They have one person working the food and beer line on a Saturday night. If my life depended on getting a drink of water I would've died 30 minutes ago. Where is the center bar button the bartender spent so much time making cocktails at a glacial pace that it without exaggeration took me 20 minutes to get one beer. They are also out of just about everything. It was a Saturday night they didn't have wings they were out of all kinds of beer. It was just pathetic. The games are for the most part horrible too. If you good games they have have weights that are about an hour and a half long. This place is hard to stomach for even 45 minutes let alone the hour and a half then make you wait for the only games anybody wants to play. They also don't give you a refund for the money you don't spend so after waiting in line for an hour for a three minute game in deciding that you're sick and tired of waiting and want to leave, they don't give you a refund. They even make you pay for all the games upfront while you wait your hour and a half. Two bit circus is pretty much a cool futuristic immersive barcade with VR gaming, escape rooms, and more. The VR games are easily the main attraction at this place in my opinion. I would recommend any of the shooting games. They also have a variety of unique arcade games that you won't see at your average barcade. Aside from the games and escape rooms, they offer a fully stocked bar and small cafe they serves typical but tasty bar food. Only downfall with this place is that that it gets extremely crowded on the weekends. Average wait for a VR game or escape room was 2-4 hours. Could also be a little pricey. read more

Wish I could give it 0 stars... I had gotten tickets for a Father's day event. Drove from orange county to LA with my family to be told the place was rented out for an evening party. They said we only had an hour tops and couldn't park in the lot. We asked to talk to a manager and some supervisor who could give 2 shits came out with a bitchy attitude and shrugged off our complaint. She walked away in the middle of our conversation and refused to explain why they would sell tickets if the place was going to be shut down. We asked if she could provide info. for someone else to talk to and she straight said no. Worst experience ever! Thanks for ruining a Father's day. We will never come back. read more

We had our work Christmas party here and IT WAS A BLAST. First off, no charge to get in, so no pressure. I love the space -- it's huge and there's a lot going on, arcade games, VR games, escape rooms -- but it's not overwhelming! It was not loud and well lit. Usually a lot of arcade/game places are too dark and too loud, it gets uncomfortable. But not here! There were a variety of fun arcade games too. I liked the ones that were more active (like rolling across a giant physical ball and knock your friends out virtually). And the VR game BEAT SABERS. Hahaha it's a VR DDR game. I didn't know it would be super fun. Lowkey can this be a gym membership? this is a great fun way to exercise. We tried another VR game with shooters with friends while you were flying. It was in a pod where the ground moves and they blow wind and fire on you. So it really makes it feel like you're whooshing as you're flying in-game. funnnn! read more

Super fun experience in the arts district that offers something other than the usually brewery/bar hopping (though you can drink here too!). My friends and I were looking for escape room and discovered they had a few options here. We bought tickets for the "Lost City" escape room which was 45 minutes. If you want to do this one I recommend reserving ahead of time as prime time tickets for Saturday sold out a couple days before. Without giving away any secrets I will say the room was really fun and awesome, would definitely recommend that. Afterwards we grabbed some food and I was surprised at how affordable yet food the food once. I got a slice of pizza and 16 oz IPA for $15. My friends also ordered the chili cheese dog, onion rings, and the chicken and waffles cone. All were actually pretty tasty for arcade food. As for games they do have some fun arcade/boardwalk type games you can play if you buy a game card. They were fun but a little underwhelming to play things like Skeeball with no actual reward for it. They also had a bunch of VR options that are pretty pricey. You should definitely do a lap and see which you want to do, the price and availability for that night prior to purchasing your game card since it will probably cost much more than you'd expect.
