I chose these guys because of the rave reviews on Yelp. They did not disappoint. Three guys moved all my stuff out of storage into my new house. They worked quickly, took care of my stuff, and were complete gentlemen. I've moved several times and nothing is worse than having people move your stuff who make vulgar comments towards you or hardly speak English. These guys were polite and worked hard to get everything done in a timely manner. I'd recommend them to anybody! read more

We moved with two Marines moving last fall - basic review: great young men that took very reasonable care with our belonging and charge a very reasonable price. For the details: we had a very good experience and were referred by a friend that also had a good experience with Two Marine Movers - that's pretty telling about the company. Typically, you will have more than two movers working. They don't charge by the person, just by an hourly rate, so it behooves you to have everything ready to go on the truck when they arrive. (Dissemble what you can handle, have boxes taped and ready to go) They had plenty of blankets and plastic to wrap all your furniture, and also protect door openings and carpets in both locations. They handled the logistics of picking up items from two different locations and delivering them to a third without any problem. Extra insurance beyond the standard was a reasonable price, though they treat your IKEA like it was fine Chippendale (so no recommendations from me on that front and insure at your own risk level!) Every Marine that worked our move was very polite and only groaned a little when I had them move a heavy bookcase to another room. read more

Used them again to move from Fairfax to Arlington and they were amazing... yet again! They took extra caution going down stairs and maneuvering around tight corners. They also helped me set up my room so that I could better utilize my tiny apartment bedroom. They were incredibly nice and social but also really professional. I STILL highly recommend to anyone with a small to medium moving size and heavy furniture is not an issue AT ALL for the movers. If I have a rating below zero I would give 2 Marines that. We had a horrible move from our 2 bedroom apartment to our new home 10 miles away. We had requested for packing and moving service and had received an initial quote of 1200. We later packed everything ourselves except the kitchen, pantry and wall decorations. We didn't move any big furniture except a spin bike, 2 mattresses, 1 couch and a wardrobe. It took the movers 8.50 hours to finish packing and moving. Now comes the story, we had the worst move ever. They tried to move the couch to the family room and it wouldn't go through the stair wall. They tried multiple times leaving a huge dent on the roof and several scratches along the stairway. Despite us telling them not to try multiple times for the wardrobe, they continued the same leaving wardrobe broken, wood dent and the stairway scratch multiple times. We had to literally tell them to stop trying and they left the couch and wardrobe in the basement. Our home was freshly painted and the wood was replaced recently. We filed for damage claim and they took their sweet time to respond. They had the worst customer service ever. I sent an email letting them know of my bad experience to which THEY DIDN'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE YET. I have never seen any business not willing to take responsibility for their actions. I wouldn't recommend 2 Marines to anyone ever. If you request for their moving assistance please be ready to face damages and pay for it yourself. They will have explanations for all their mistakes and the customer service doesn't even exist there. WORST SERVICE EVER. read more

Was told they would arrive at 9:00. They arrived at 9:50. Was given an estimate of 5 hours @ $1,243. Actual time it took was 10 hours @ @2,259. They showed up with 4 guys in a Uhaul that was too small to handle all my stuff, which I told them was a three bedroom townhouse. I had packed and moved all the pictures and lamps, and boxed everything else up very neatly. When it was realized that they couldn't get all the stuff in the truck and it was taking longer than the estimate, the team leader asked me if I still wanted the rest of the stuff moved from the old townhouse!?!? Uh, yeah...that's why they call it moving. So they dispatched another truck out that I was told would take an hour. 2 hours and 40 minutes later it showed up. Damage to old townhouse walls, new townhouse walls and stained carpeting. To top it off, I had told them a good deal of my stuff only had to go to the garage, but the few items that I specifically needed up to the third floor where just shoved in the garage also. It definitely came down to a f*ck it attitude for them by the end of the day it seemed. Honestly, I had quicker work with less damage on my previous move (same furniture, same situation) when I hired day laborers from in front of a 7-11 and rented a Uhaul myself. read more

I was torn about how many stars to leave b/c there were people/aspects of the move that were great, but my move left a bad taste in my mouth overall. For anyone thinking about moving during a high traffic event (like Rolling Thunder this Sunday), you might want to think again (or think about using someone else). My move was during the end of the Cherry Blossom festival and they were 2 HOURS LATE, which they blamed on the traffic. They sent an extra crew for free to make up for it, which I appreciated, but we still didn't get to my new apt until 7:30PM because we started so late. There were some definite communication issues overall, some of which I take responsibility for. I got yelled at by the front desk man b/c they were using the main elevators and taking things out of the lobby. I was in the apt directing and packing up the last things, so I didn't check to make sure they were using the freight elevator and going out the correct hallway, but I had assumed since I gave them the key for the freight elevator, they would use that. My bad for not checking, I guess. They also parked right in front of the building when I had told them to park in front of the sidewalk that led to the freight elevator, but again, I guess I should've checked instead of assuming that they listened. My biggest beef, though, was w/ the attitude of the team leader. He was fine for the first half of the move, but then at the new place, I heard him complaining about how underestimated my move had been. I specifically put in my estimate request that it should be estimated as a 1 bedroom, not a studio, b/c I have a lot of stuff, and I also made sure to emphasize this on the phone w/ the booking agent, telling him it would definitely take longer than the 2.5 hrs they had estimated. I get that they were tired and it was late, but that wasn't my fault. I was also having anxiety b/c it was so late and I still had things to unload from my car AND still had to go back and clean up my old apt, so I didn't just want to stand there while they were downstairs loading up the elevator. When I came back, another crew had arrived, and things were everywhere w/o any reason. I guess it's my bad for not staying there to direct them, but again, I was having anxiety about how much I still had to do myself, and was it really too much to assume that a boxed labeled "HEAVY - KITCHEN" would end up in the kitchen and not on my desk chair in my room? I started trying to explain to the team leader that I had things in my car I was trying to get out and that things hadn't been placed where I wanted them, to try and get him to help me move them, but he cut me off and said, "Oh, you have more stuff in your car. Someone else can help you take it out." I wasn't trying to give them more work and have them help me unload the car. The whole reason I loaded things in there was to save them time. I was just trying to get him to move heavy furniture to the correct locations, but he cut me off and walked out before I had a chance to explain. I was also angry b/c he was complaining about how much stuff I had (behind my back in the hallway), when he had offered to take more stuff than I was planning having them take. I mainly wanted them to move the heavy furniture and the packed boxes and was going to take my clothes and shoes myself, but he said, "You hired movers for a reason. We might as well take it for you." The final straw, though, was when it was time to put my bed together. One guy asked the team leader to do it, since he was the one who took it apart and knew how it worked, and he said, "I don't want to help her anymore." I was floored... and pissed! The other guy ended up doing it, but there was a part he couldn't get to fit/ couldn't figure out what to do with. Well, my bed just broke... and I only weigh 170. On that note, I also heard them making comments as they were leaving about my "snack cabinet" in my room. First of all, it was a cabinet w/ my diet food and things I had packed up from kitchen, and intended to have in the living room, but they hadn't asked me where to put it, and I was so frazzled, I just said forget it. Moral of the story, I thought hiring movers would be less stressful, but it was just as stressful, and ended up leaving me feeling like shit. I could've done it for $150 instead of $450 by having my friends help me, and at least I know they wouldn't talk about me behind my back... or I should've at least gone w/ the deaf movers my friend recommended so at least I wouldn't know if they were talking about me (unfortunately, I had already put down a non-refundable deposit). I really wanted to like this company b/c it is Marine-run, and that's why I chose to use them, along w/ the good reviews on here, so I felt obligated to put my review on here for anyone else considering them. Do w/ it what you will, but I will never be using them again or recommending them. read more

I've used Two Marines Moving for two moves, and recommend them to others whenever I know friends are moving. It makes it much easier on me that they bring their own supplies -- dollies, packing tape, bubble wrap, blankets -- anything needed for my move, they had. For my more recent move, Michael, Cody, and Diamonte were absolutely amazing. They worked quickly and efficiently, answering any questions I had along the way. Before we began, Michael made sure I understood all of the paperwork and everything I was signing. He answered any questions I had and all three men paid attention when I pointed out things about the furniture or the apartment (for example, I had a low hanging light fixture that you need to be mindful of when moving things like bookshelves). My move was not the easiest -- the moving truck needed to back up a curved hill, and my building had contractors working that took the service elevator from us even though I had it reserved. The guys worked around the issues and finished in less time than I was quoted. I know the cost is higher than some other moving companies, but they do great work and for me it's worth it. When you're sending information for your quote, be as specific as possible to help them help you. read more

Professional, courteous service with a great outcome. I used Two Marines for an in-city move including my upright piano, and couldn't have been happier with my decision. The cost estimate was accurate, the process was extremely efficient, and all of my furniture was left in excellent condition. I had been hesitant about not using a professional piano moving service, but the Two Marines crew were careful and proficient in properly wrapping and moving the instrument-- even up three flights of steep and narrow stairs. I hired TMM for a one bedroom move from DC to Arlington. Even with the help I needed packing and a 45 minute drive, it took less than 2.5 hours. The 2 movers were polite, efficient, friendly, and took direction well. Could not have been happier with the process! This is the third moving company I've used, and TMM were leagues better at itemizing costs and walking me through the process and charges, compared to other companies who seem to wing it and arbitrarily quote a price (on top of running 1.5 hours late with no heads up). would absolutely hire TTM again! read more

I have now used this company three times in the past 2+ years and two of the three requests were for smaller jobs where I needed furniture moved from one floor to the other and was unable to do so by myself. One of the major reasons I used this company in the first place was because they charged by the hour, with a one hour minimum. I felt that the expertise and trustworthiness of this company was worth paying the truck fee (though a truck wasn't needed) and the full hour for two movers (though it only took 10-15 minutes to move the furniture). It was gratifying to know that there was a company I could call when I needed help with a smaller job that would take less than an hour and not have to pay an outrageous fee. I am extremely disappointed in Two Marines Moving decision to change their policy. They now charge a two hour minimum. Due to their change in policy, I won't be calling them again for these types of small requests. It wasn't worth the $419 for the ten minutes of work it took to move the three pieces of furniture I had. On the plus side, Two Marines Moving personnel are extremely professional and very good at what they do. They called when they were on their way, showed up on time, did I what I needed them to do without damaging the walls or my furniture and cleaned up after themselves. If you are planning a local move, I would highly recommend them but if you need help with a smaller job, find someone else. read more

Two Marines Moving just moved my 1 BR apt from Rockville to Arlington, and they were wonderful!!! Ian made booking them a breeze and a pleasant experience, and the two men who showed up were courteous, polite, and efficient. They were very careful with all my furniture, and mindful of doorways and walls. Two Marines Moving met and exceeded my expectations. I used them to pack a 16 foot U-Haul for an interstate move. They were extremely communicative before the move, professional, and proficient at their work. I've moved a lot, and used a lot of movers (and gotten a lot of headaches). I'm pleased to say that I would happily recommend Two Marines to any friends of colleagues looking for professional movers. They are quick, honest, and hardworking. The owner even sent an "after action report" to get my opinion on the quality of their work after my move. Clearly, this company puts a priority on their reputation and referral base, as they should! I would discourage you from using this company if you have valuable furniture or any delicate/antique pieces. The 3 starts are for the movers (headed by Chris). They lost 2 stars as dealing with the office people will drive you insane. You cannot get the same person to help you and to get a call back is not easy. Mine was a simple task - I ordered some furniture and since they are big stuff, I called them to get the furniture for me and deliver it. The movers that came were punctual, courteous and efficient. Chris is the best (and his sidekick). If I can deal with him for everything (scheduling, payment, etc), that would be great. BUT warning on dealing with their office staff - like what Queen Latifah said, the right hand does not know what the left does. read more

I contacted 2 Marines because my son is a Marine. My first interaction for a quote was good. When I called back to discuss the quote and explain my situation ( my son is deceased and my daughter ha stage IV cancer)the interaction was way less than favorable. I asked if they offer any discounts or could they give me a break on the cost due to my situation, which I felt was a bit high for the small amount of furniture I needed moved. I was promptly told "no, this is a business not a charity". Not what I expected from Marines. I emailed the CEO who did not respond but instead chose to turf it to the operations manager. This person did apologize, via email, for the treatment I received and offered the military discount and then offered to double it. This offer doubled was $50, not even 10%. How sad that this is a company started by Marines, claims to hire military and only offers them a $25 military discount. Let alone the treatment I received and the CEO did respond himself. I for obvious reasons did not go with 2 Marines for my move and wish I had read the reviews prior to contacting them. It would have saved me a bit of distress. I would not recommend them to anyone. If I could give a negative numbered of stars I would. read more

The staff are the best in the business being in the military we move a lot never have I had movers as friendly, professional , and motivated to get the job done. I wish I could give 2.5 stars, but I'm rounding up because they're veterans. On the front end, Two Marines were great. Extremely professional and courteous. They did an outstanding job packing, disassembling, and reassembling our furniture, and they did it in the time they estimated. Can't say enough about how great they were. However, anytime you have a large move, shit happens. A scratch on the floor, a broken recliner mechanism on the couch, etc. This is why we purchased their most expensive insurance option, and this is where the quality of service quickly deteriorated. It took them over six months to determine that they would be unable to repair the scratch on our floor and finally pay us out for the damages. Seven months later, we are still waiting to have our couch recliner repaired, because the repairman they use is impossible to book (and required US to track down the parts he needs). So, Two Marines is great on move day, but their customer service afterwards leaves much to be desired. read more

A few positives warrant the star: 1) my actual movers were very nice, 2) I like the idea of this business and 3) responses to my initial inquiries regarding prices and moving dates were prompt and enthusiastic. Now with the negative. A few weeks before my already scheduled move I received a call...asking if I'd like to schedule a move. Uh oh. Fortunately they found my moving date on the books and I just attributed it to a mix-up. The next set of problems arose when I inquired into ordering a few boxes (just wardrobe and dish). The company called my cell phone to set up a time for someone to drop them off the next day. The next day I received a call on my work phone informing me that the crew couldn't reach my cell phone. I called back promptly from my cell phone, but didn't receive any response for the rest of the day. Or the next day, when I called again leaving both my work and cell phone numbers and e-mail. Finally, the NEXT day, after several e-mails I received a response informing me that boxes could be delivered that night. (Mind you, opportunities to pack were dwindling.) I was informed that they couldn't reach me at a particular number--a number that is the generic caller ID number that shows up when someone calls from my office. A number I never would have given anyone, since it doesn't exist. And not the cell phone number they called me on mere days before. Getting frustrated, I come home to get my boxes, only to discover at my front desk 1) wardrobe boxes with no bars on which to hang clothes and 2) dish and glass packs sufficient to pack three boxes, but with only one matching box. Useless. Two e-mails and a call the next day, and someone finally responds, repeating my initial inquiry, as if you imply I asked for the wrong thing. However, they did say they'd bring my materials that day. I leave work early and wait for several hours, and finally call the company around 9:00 pm. (36 hours before my move). I am told there is a team in Fairfax who can go back when they are done, get my boxes, and bring them do me (in the District), and that they wouldn't charge me for them. Needless to say, I was asleep when the boxes arrived, and spent the following day going back and forth from work to my apartment just to finish packing. On Moving day I was quoted at a 1hour move for $200, ballpark. I assumed it would take longer, as these things do, and scheduled afternoon appointments at my new place about 3 hours later, thinking we'd at least be at the new place by then. 4.5 hours after the movers arrive, we are still not quite ready to leave my apartment. All told, the process took over 7 hours, and $860 (not including the rather generous tip I gave the slow but nice movers). And yes, I was charged for boxes. read more

The pack and move was a 5-7 hour estimate for packing, loading a truck, & moving to the new place @ $1900. It took 11 hours and 50 minutes for anywhere from 3 to 6 guys doing work. I lived in an 880 sq ft, 1 bed, 1 bath apartment, small living room & a galley kitchen. A 4 person team had to return on the next morning to unload the trucks into my new house. I was asked to pay over $4000 in total by the end of this move. I am unsure how an 880 sq ft apartment, with over 20 boxes & rubber-made containers already packed, took this long and cost this much. On top of it, I have a broken piece of furniture; a small wooden, antique desk was turned on it's side (in front of me) with the drawers full & still inside the desk. There was a slight crunch noise & shift was seen by the men moving. They told me that there was something packed in between the legs of the desk & that is what shifted. The desk was wrapped in a blanket so I was unable to immediately tell what had happened. After unwrapping the desk other boxes were placed around it in my office, so I was not able to see that the desk top was broken off the legs of the desk until Sunday when I was unpacking in the office. I paid for insurance & would like an evaluation of the damage and am still waiting to hear back from Two Marines. I have left 2 voice-mails and sent an e-mail. read more

I honestly can not say enough about how absolutely awful these guys were. Me and my GF moved from Cleveland, and we had a North American Van Lines Moving company pack us up there. They were early, and hauled her stuff down three flights of stairs, quick, efficient, done in 2hrs. With Steps!! Well I have a brother who is active duty in the marine corps. and I think it'd be a good thing to throw this company some money. Help out some military people. WOW what a mistake. First off, they show up an hour late and me and my GF have already unloaded most of the truck. Then the show with no dollies or furniture movers, and look dumbfounded when I suggest they get those to help. For the first hour they literally moved like 2 pieces of furniture. No joke, me and my 5'1, 100lbs girlfriend who moving faster and more stuff. They then proceeded to get our couch COMPLETELY jammed in the stairwell on the first flight of steps. When I say completely, I mean it couldn't even come down. It was stuck in there for almost 2 hours, they gave up and my GF and I then tried, I almost broke my leg, they were clueless. Oh yeah...and they charged us for the time they sat there dumbfounded wondering how an 8 foot couch wouldn't swivel on in the smallest stairwell ever. It was insane. They're not professionals, they're probably good guys, but not good movers. I can't stress it enough, I really can't. A 2 hr job too 5+ hours because they were slow, inefficient, and just don't know how to move furniture. Ha, and when I asked for a discount because they ripped a perfectly new couch after wedging it in a stairwell for 2 hours, they said..."Well, you wanted it up in the apartment right..." HA, what BS. He says, "well how were the guys supposed to know it would get stuck so badley" I respond, well, maybe because they're professional movers? He says no....do anything but hire these people. read more

This is my second time using this service. The first time it was a furniture only move and no sofas just some bookshelves, entertainment center and my beloved king size bed. The move was super efficient and was affordable. I just moved again about 2 years later now I have 50+ boxes, two sofas and all furniture. It was estimated to be a 6 hour move with 3 guys at 1,500 it's pricey, but I feel it's worth it. They come in, the dudes were freaking awesome, nice, funny, sweet, just all around cool freaking guys. They helped me when my cat tried to make a run for the door and you just can't expect service like this these days. They barely ever rested except when my spouse brought all of us slurpees but they only drank for a minute hence why they all got brain freezes. Still it was non-stop, clean and efficient. They went under the estimate so it came to 1390 it would have been less but I paid for the 195 (best) insurance. Dear owner, your people (from dude who gives estimate, dude who calls back to dudes who moved me) are INCREDIBLE. I hope you are treating them well and paying them top dollar, our veterans deserve nothing less. I love this service for the employees and I will continue being a customer for my moves. read more

As a spouse home with several young children I am always hesitant to have people I don't know in my home. The two men who came to my home were professional, polite and sweet to my kids. Totally professional outfit and very efficient; not a minute is wasted. Rescheduled original date for fear of a snow storm, which never materialized, but change handled smoothly. On move-out date crew was punctual, courteous and totally efficient. At the end of the move Daniel, the crew's leader, presented the final bill that was meticulous in its accounting and handled with integrity. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these guys. Cant understand the negative reviews so here is our experience. They packed a good chunk of our place prior to the move- came when they said they would and finished in time. Cheap? No...but that's why we are paying them to come to our house and pack us. They did a great job. The move itself was great. They came on time- and actually started 45 minutes early because they left that much time in advance. The move took a few hours longer than expected (2-3) but I think I underestimated the distance from where the truck was parked- to where they had to get on the freight elevator and walk to our apt. I dont think its because they weren't working their butts off. One of the guys had to leave in the middle of the move but was immediately replaced. We got them pizza, gave them water, tips and had NO PROBLEMS! A few mini scratches and one broken coffee grinder that within 1 week already they have said they would pay for in full. We got the extra coverage but didn't even need it. Even our Ikea furniture- which isn't covered all made it to our new place as a whole. The walls are fine, and they made sure to take extra care of our valuables. Worth paying extra for a company that was reliable, guys that were professional and trustworthy. You have my vote. I appreciate the phone calls/emails and all the communication before and after the move. As a wife of a Marine I am so happy we got to support a military company. Would absolutely recommend them and happily hire them again if we need to move. THANK YOU GUYS! read more
