We had such a great experience with your whole team. We got multiple check-ins leading up to the moving date to let us know what to expect and give us tips. When the team arrived (early!) we were SOOO impressed right off the bat with how quickly they assessed and made a plan and got right to work. They were AMAZING and so efficient and there was never a wasted moment. Watching them work was truly impressive even with the issues we threw at them, including no parking spaces, a tiny elevator and a teeny set of stairs up to the new place. He explained his staffing issues and was very upfront that it was not the kind of service that they look to provide. He quickly looked to see how he could rectify the issue and did credit me the time that we had lost because of the elevator loss. He says that they're looking for additional office staff to address exactly the concerns that I had. Horrible customer service and really RUDE!! I had a really bad experience with them when I tried to get a quote from them. So, I don't recommend this company. This is what happened to me.. I called them on Aug. 18 trying to get a quote and they said that someone will contact me shortly. Then, no one contacted me on that day, so next day, I called them again. Then, I got an "email" from them saying that someone will contact me shortly. I waited and waited..But no one contacted me.. Then, I called them again on Aug. 23 to get the quote because I need to move this weekend. Then someone finally called me on the same day. And the guy who called me first told me that they sent out the quote to my email on Aug. 18. I told him that I never got it and we found out that they got the wrong email address. But, I asked him that I got an email ("correct email address") from them on Aug. 19 about contacting me shortly. He failed to answer my question about why no one contacted me after Aug. 19 and before I called them again on Aug. 23. He was just keep telling me that I gave them the wrong email address. And then he told me that there's no availability this weekend. I was very frustrated with him, and told him that I will write a bad review about his company on Yelp. Then he threatened me by saying that "If you are saying so, I WILL HANG UP THE PHONE." Of course I hung up on him first. But, so unbelievable that "a moving company customer service person" can threaten a customer like that... read more

I recently hired Two Marines to move my stuff from storage unit to townhome. I was contacted day prior to confirm my move time (2:30 pm). Three guys came and did a good and professional job in loading stuff carefully into the truck. All three of them were very courteous and focused on the job. Moved efficiently. They completed the job in 3 hours (estimated was 4.5 hours). I would definitely use their service again. Here is BUT part (directed against the company rather than crew)... I found it interesting that being a moving company, they should have provided their crew with blankets to cover the staircase carpet. They did not have anything to cover the stairs. They did use a small blanket to cover up portion of the staircase carpet after i mentioned it to them. No fault of the guys but rather the moving company. Crew contacted me 45 min prior stating that previous job was taking longer than expected and gave me estimated time as 3:15 pm. I requested for back up crew since had dependent tasks with 2:30 pm ETA in mind. They said there was no back up crew available. I contacted the dispatcher number and left voice mail for backup crew but got no response. The original crew finally did arrive at 4 pm. Once they arrived, the job got done to my satisfaction. read more

Not a good experience.... I used Two Marines in October 2012. Three people arrived two hours late, worked slowly and started a verbal fighting match with my neighbors. The truck was fully loaded a few hours later. The Marines got lost driving to my new apartment. Perhaps they need to use the GPS in their truck... or find a BFT. This wasted more time. Unloading the truck was very inefficient. Of the three Marines, two disappeared frequently. Supposedly, they were unloading the truck, but the third Marine and I were suspicious. We frequently set off to find the lost Marines. They broke several pieces of furniture (by dropping them in my new apartment), lost screws that held my bed together and took stuff out of boxes I instructed them to leave alone. They do not insure furniture that they do not wrap. So, I'm on my own for most of the damaged furniture. The actual bill was far more than their initial estimate. I paid by the hour. read more

I was completely satisfied with the estimate I initially received, their communication before the move, and the moving team, their professionalism, and hustle. They were hard-working, polite, organized, careful, and I would be happy to have any or all of them again for my next move. There were some issues regarding the estimate vs. the final bill. I spoke with Christy about it, and she was able to provide good customer service by addressing my concerns to my satisfaction. If you choose to go with TMM, I'd recommend having a very detailed conversation with them about the items you want moved, especially if the estimate seems low. Looking back, I would have sent pictures of the rooms themselves, so there was no confusion about the volume of items to be moved. I've learned and will be doing this in the future. Super move. Gotta say, when they got my stuff on their truck almost 2 hours ahead of schedule, I was impressed. But not as impressed and well, a little awed, when the guys carried my stuff up FIVE flights of stairs because we were way early for our elevator reservation and other folks had it. I have used Two Marines moving three times this past summer (2018) and have been very, very impressed. Each job was slightly different and had different crews and every single time they were efficient, polite, careful and on time. In 2 of the 3 moves, we actually came in under the quoted price! I had made arrangements with the Two Marines Moving company to have my personal items moved from location to another location, which was short in distance. I searched the website to find a good company, and came across "Two Marines." I chose "Two Marines," not only for some favorable comments that I read, but because they were a military veteran organization - being a retired military member of the U.S. military I try to support my fellow military veterans whenever I can. My move was scheduled for Monday, 18 January 2021, and prior to that date I sent an email (on Friday, 15 January, to reconfirm the date, and to ask if there was anything I needed to do - I did not receive a response, so I called; in fact I called a couple of times - each time I heard a recording that basically said that no one was available to talk with and to call back later. My thinking shifted to either - 1) they were too busy; and 2) because of Covid-19 my thought was that some workers contracted the virus, which I was hoping that was not the case. I then received a phone call from a gentleman, whose name I will not list, but he had told me that he at one time worked for Two Marines, and per his comment, he is still able to see the numbers that are being dialed in - which I found somewhat odd - but out of concern he gave me a call, just to see if there was anything he could do to help. Till this day, 28 January 2021, I have not been contacted and given a valid reason/excuse for the "non show.' As a result,I had to scramble to find another moving company. This experience has been the worst I have ever dealt with, and It's pretty safe to say that i am highly disappointed with Two Marines,and would never use this company again - this is sad for me because of their representation as Veterans organization. Whatever you do DONOTuse this company. I moved about 3 miles from a one bedroom apartment. I was charged over 1700$. The 3 guys that came were very nice but very slow. One of the guys had no clue what to do and had to be lead around. one of the guys complained about him to the lead mover. They ruined a beautiful cherry table by putting a large deep scratch in it. They must have just thrown around the boxes because of had my thanksgiving platter broken, my crystal cake plate was broken 2 glasses were broken an they broke a piece of glass in my china cabinet. I asked them from the start to please be fast because of the cost what should have taken 4 hours took 7. I did have a small elevator in my first complex but this was way too long. They were so slow that I told them to leave some stuff and the next day I had to rent a uhaul van. I had so much stuff remaining that it filled up the van. I also had to do this without help it was a nightmare. I knew they were expensive but that price was ridiculous for a one bedroom. I had a lot of boxes but that was because I packed light. I have the pictures to verify every thing. The worst move I have ever done. I also gave them drinks and cookies. read more

I'm really glad I found this team. I called on them for a short distance move in Arlington, VA and they were great. They were professional in scheduling, showing up on time, and efficiently preparing the move. I had a couple of pieces that were a bit difficult to get into a basement but they tried several different strategies til the mission was accomplished! That's not to say there weren't some bumps and scratches in the process but nothing was broken. All in all, they had a great attitude and handled our move with care. Unless they give you a flat fee - do not use them. I had a horrible experience. I had a very simple move and it took more than twice as long as estimated during the walk-through that am. I paid for 3 professional movers and received 1 professional mover and 2 clueless movers, 1 did not even know how to use the freight elevator. We have had terrible experiences with movers in the past, and the house from which we moved posed some serious obstacles to easy moves (long, steep driveway that trucks cannot back-up; odd layout that requires clever manipulation of furniture to get through doorways; steps, steps and more steps). Two Marines and a Truck came highly recommended to us, and our expectations were exceeded. Planning/scheduling was easy (we corresponded mostly via email), confirmation calls received as promised, and the move took less time (and $) than we were quoted. The three guys who came to move our belongings worked hard and without complaint, and they were very polite and careful with our things. We absolutely will refer them to our friends, and if we move again we'll definitely use them. read more

I was looking forward to helping the military and expected a great experience. However, I feel that we could have done better with a different company. We set our appointment and had several follow-ups via email and a phone call the day before. I felt everything was going to be okay. We were set for an 8am start on Sunday morning. This was the first error, they showed up at 8:45am. Granted they did call, but still, it was Sunday morning, they didn't have traffic, so you should be on time! Then the guys that arrived weren't Marines or any other military. They were college kids. My heart sank, I was so afraid my things - even the best college kids aren't careful with things...and it turns out I was right. Then on the way to our move, they stop to get gas! Why the trucks weren't filled when they came to the house, I don't know, but I was ticked that we got to the house and waited another 45 minutes before they showed up again. After taking an extra 3 hours than quoted (they moved so much slower than the movers who moved us into the place we moved out), they rough-handled all my furniture and I'm missing a glass top to a table. I've had to go around screwing in coffee table tops, table legs, etc. I didn't have to do any of this with my prior movers. And then we went back to the house to clean up this morning and saw they forgot a mirror on the wall...thank goodness we went back. On a good note, they didn't put any holes in our walls and nothing was damaged severely, but having experienced a move prior, this was such a let down. The price was great, but I have a feeling for the same or a little more money, we could have gotten better and quicker service. I support Veterans and their companies, but this one wasn't as up to par as I would have preferred. read more

We are terribly disappointed with Two Marines Moving. I will never use the company again and will not recommend it to anyone. In fact, I strongly suggest never using their services. The first time they moved us was great. They were efficient, professional, polite. This time however has been a nightmare. During the move they broke a mirror, a dining room chair, chipped a very expensive frame on a painting, and scratched two book cases that looked as if they were raked. The movers pretty much broke the mirror in front of us and we signed a receipt acknowledging the damage. I might add that these things have crossed the country twice without even a scratch. We moved at the end of December and they have yet to resolve the situation. We left at least three voicemails and sent several emails before anyone actually talked to us. At first they were really apologetic and gave me their word to "make things right." It took them five weeks to finally get somebody out here to inspect the damage and fix what they could. The repair guy, Ryan, said that he would take the mirror to a local glass shop to have it fixed and would call me that afternoon to let me know when the crew would be by to pick it up. Six days later I had yet to hear anything from Ryan or anyone else in the company to explain why he never showed up, or to schedule a pick up. Yesterday I called and left a message for Lance - no call back. I sent an email asking for them to pick up the mirror and that I wanted it in writing that they would pay the cost of repairing it. They wrote back and said they are sending me a check for insured amount of the mirror at 60 cents per pound. They gave me their word that they would at least fix the mirror and now they have blown us off completely without even an apology. When I first spoke with Nick about the damage, he said that he hoped that the damage wouldn't affect my opinion of the company. I replied that accidents happen and that what matters most is how a company responds to and resolves the issue. In many ways that says more about a company's integrity than does its product or service. Unfortunately the shoddy way Two Marines Moving have treated my husband and I speaks for itself. read more

I used them a couple of weeks ago to move down the street, as I fell for the story about honour. They gave me an estimate over the phone, which I thought was weird, but hey, they knew best. I did say a lot of times that I have a lot of stuff, and they showed up with 3 men for 6.5 hours. Turned out that I had more than expected, so they sent 3 more and one more car, and they worked for about 9 hours, packing of everything, and I mean everything, and moving into the new home. However, they didn't do it with the care I expected. I have a lot of chipped furniture, furniture with stuff missing, and I have to throw out a lot. I have a paper lamp, and I had put it aside to be treated with care, and I asked them to be careful, but they still ripped it. My fake fireplace has to have the mantle covered 100% of the time, because the top is chipped badly. My office chair is missing a wheel, and it has to be thrown out. I had office furniture that lost legs. They may be packed somewhere, but god knows where. Why? Well, when they packed, they didn't mark where things came from, or what was in the boxes. As a result, we had to put it in my spare room. They stacked it really haphazardly, and when I noticed it, I took charge and told them where to put things. It was tough, as I had 6 people all over the place. All in all, I spent a few days sleeping in a chair in the living room, and I had no covers other than a thin sheet. The good thing is that they DID send a couple of men over a couple of days later to help me organise the boxes. This was free of charge. They opened every box, labeled them, and move things around, to the kitchen, office, bedrooms, living room, so I had things where they were supposed to be. They also stacked things in such a way that I could get into the spare room and go through the boxes. These two guys were very friendly and courteous, and very helpful. They kind of restored my faith in this company. On the other hand, I don't think I will use them again. read more

Two marines performed a move for us. It was ***quick*** but I had rather pay an extra hour or more to have furniture handled with care. None of the furniture was wrapped in plastic or bubble wrap. Sofa which is made of cloth (cream) was just carried without any wrapping. Result: scratch marks on furniture + stains on sofa. Further, our closet ( ikea) was completely broken. their insurance policy is deplorable. "we will break things and pay back by the pound based on the choice of insurance. Also ikea furniture is not covered"... Is your furniture (besides ikea) supposed to be valued by the pound or by it's cost. also, our TV HAS scratch marks. Reason: No wrapping cushion used. other folks beware. better experience (2 past moves) --- two guys and a truck. Update: It's been a week since our move, but we still have to hear from their claim dept. I talked to someone in the front office, and they said it takes 30 days to settle claims. I suggest this be advertised on their website. 30 days to get claim reimbursed! Imagine having a broken furniture lying in front of your new home for 30 days. read more

I signed up for Yelp specifically to praise 2 Marines Moving for doing a terrific job with my move. I requested an estimate online and promptly received a call from Stefan, who answered all of my questions, provided me with all the necessary info, and scheduled my move. In the period between that call and the move, all communications were clear and informative about the company's policies and procedures. The morning of the move, I got a call from Jake and Jon, who confirmed the move and asked if I minded if they showed up a little early. Of course I didn't! They showed up and got right to work, and I was incredibly impressed with their courteousness, good nature, carefulness, professionalism, and hustle. These guys MOVED! But they never jeopardized my stuff in the name of speed -- they were very careful with everything, and did a great job wrapping all furniture items carefully for transit. The efficiency with which these guys operated was truly impressive! All in all, not a moment was wasted, and the total time came in about 2 hours under the initial estimate. 2MM wasn't the lowest estimate I received, but it wasn't the highest, and I honestly can't imagine another outfit doing a better job. I had to move some things from storage and take some things to another residence. The two "Marines" were the best ever!! The sofa bed from hell could not be taken out of the room without cutting it into shreds which was fine with me but they went that extra mile and helped me get rid of it. When they went down to my storage at Crystal Plaza apartments, unbeknownst to me (although the building knew because people were trying to clean up) there was a huge flood which had flooded my storage by nearly 8 inches. They were troopers again and waded through the water and mold and moved the wet and moldy boxes on the dolly and took them up to my apartment so they could be sorted, destroyed and/or repacked. They were terrific even though by now they were getting very soiled themselves. They loaded other furniture on the truck and took it across town to my brothers and did not take a frolic or detour because I did not follow them. They completed all this in record time and were the kindest, most polite movers I ever had. I wish they were long distance. Go with these movers - they are the best!!! Caveat: I did not actually end up using this service. I did call at ~1200 and inquire about the possibility of using their service to move out of a 4 bedroom townhouse that SAME DAY (during the height of their Summer busy season). This looked like a potential requirement when my other moving service (contracted by the government) ran into challenges. The folks at Two Marines Moving jumped through hoops to determine what manpower they could pull off other jobs and at what times to make it happen. They also provided a very reasonable estimate. Although their services did not end up being required I was highly impressed by their professionalism, courtesy, and gung ho attitude. I will definitely use their services next time I have a requirement. read more

I am editing my review below because I'm angry. I thought YELP was supposed to be unbiased and done by the public. My review got categorized and hidden because apparently it looks like "spam" to their computer program. I will no longer rely on YELP for a darn thing. You've targeted this company for some reason and you're hiding behind the mask of a computer program. "Our editors cannot manually unhide the review" You're telling us the computer program has programmed itself to lock out editing??????? To the general public... use other resources on the net. Facebook, message boards etc. There are some negative reviews out there. That's part and parcel for this business. But the overwhelming majority have had a positive experience. Myself included. ____________________________________________ I just can't say enough good things so I will repost what I've put in other forums... For a one bed apartment from Manassas to Fairfax: $100 truck fee $50 gas fee $59 an hour per man = 118/hr About $ 425 plus tip It took them 2.5 hours. They were scheduled at 1pm. They arrived at 12:45, and were finished with loading/unloading by 3:15. It's sort of up to the truck guys, but they didn't charge for the 1st or last 15 minutes. They brought a 20 foot truck instead of a 17 foot truck, complete with all assembly/disassembly tools, tape, wrap, dollies and door props. They had to MacGyver one door open and finished half an hour early. I lived on a 3rd floor and I moved to a 3rd floor, no elevators. The condo association told me where to park the moving truck, so I did. It resulted in a few cranky neighbors because the road is one way and one lane, so it got blocked for about 50 minutes. The boys told me to stay upstairs and they dealt with the neighbors. So the neighbors didn't know who I was and therefore, could not get all cranky at me personally when they told them they were following orders and would be done in less than an hour. This small but meaningful action by them prevented a world of move day drama. Additionally, they moved me through the remnants of the hurricane, so all this was in a rain storm. Plus, the company really does hire veterans and active duty men. So there is that factor which melts my heart. Overall, I'd recommend them to anyone and everyone. I will hire them again. Those two kids hustled like no other and were well worth their price and then some. I tipped them each $50. I have no idea if that was enough, but they seemed happy with it. I wish I had more cash to tip them more. I was not expecting such great service. read more

I actually had really high hopes with Two Marines-everything started off great. They arrived on time and were very professional. They hustled to get things done in a timely manner and even managed to get it done under quote time. Then we started unwrapping and that's where it started to turn downhill... Though they had taken time to shrink wrap the piece, the sliding door itself was never secured during the move. As a result, the door to my TV stand was badly damaged. I suppose things get dented here and there with a big move, but like a few other reviews on yelp-the customer service after the move leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. I have yet to hear anything since I filed a claim almost a week ago. That includes me calling them again to check the status of the situation. Suggestion to the owners: your job is not done until its DONE. A proper follow up could go a long way-and no a generic how-did-we-do email doesn't cut it. read more

I hired two marines and a truck for a move on 8/11. I requested that they show up at 1230 and stay for approximately 5 hours to unload a 10x30 storage unit (completely full) and move those items to my house less than three miles away. I received a very competitive quote within minutes with the date and time I requested being available. I reviewed my quote, paid a small deposit and confirmed the booking. The responses from emails and phone calls were very responsive. I never spoke to a machine, I always reached a person. I received two follow on emails. The first one was a note reminding me my move was in three days giving me Valuation Options and Limits of Liability, and then another email arrived the next day reminding me of my move in 2 days and details regarding my estimate and packing guidelines. On the day of my move my fiancée was going to meet them at the storage unit. He called them and told them he could meet a bit earlier if they would like. The team was already on their way. They arrived a few minutes after my fiancée arrived at the storage unit. After a polite greeting and reviewing the plan the team started immediately. There was a bit of a snafu with the scheduling of the trucks and admitted up front but also told us we would not be charged for it. So as they loaded up one truck another was already on the way. The team worked quickly and efficiently. As we unloaded the trucks at the house the team listened to me for direction and placed each piece in the appropriate room. No matter what room, upstairs or downstairs not a single one of them complained about anything. All said and done the team took 3 hours and 10 minutes to complete a 10x30 storage unit packed to the ceiling full. I am beyond impressed with their ability to move quickly. They gave us the total, which ended up being considerably less than the estimate because of the time difference and we were VERY happy. I am absolutely happy with every aspect of their service. When I move again this will be the only company I will call. On an extremely positive note, the team that came out was comprised of former Army and Marines. As an Army and Marine family we were very happy to support fellow Veterans and happy to see a company like this. They exceeded our military standards. read more
