Doctor completely missed our 13 year old dog's glaucoma during a routine visit and a week later her retina detached and she went blind. Totally unacceptable when he mentioned a cloudy eye. There should have been major warning signs to go to emergency hospital to prevent blindness.....Overall Takes on too many clients and can't care for the ones he's been seeing. I had a home visit for my pup's last night, and he handled all with grace and love - I couldn't ask for more in a time of need. This place has the most caring and loving people. I brought my 4 and half year old dog here after going to Red Bank Vet. Dr. Joyce at RBVH told us that my dogs teeth were falling out and that it would cost approx 1800 dollars total to clean them. Dr. Joyce told me that his teeth were so bad that I definitely needed to see a board certified dentist for cleaning. She says his front teeth are going to fall out after cleaning because they are being held in by plaque. Obviously, I was upset by the news and shocked that I hadn't heard it from other vets in the past. I told my groomer (Erik at Le French Groomer) who insisted on calling Two Rivers Animal Hospital. I called and made an apt with Dr. Hinchliffe. I didn't mention to Dr. Hichliffe the bad news I received at RBVH. I wanted to see what she had to say about my dogs teeth on her own. She was so positive and said it was nice that we were proactively getting his teeth cleaned. She said she thought they were in great shape just needed the plaque cleaned off and thought maybe one tooth looked like they would want to do an x-ray. She also said it was going to be 400-450 for the entire procedure. Needless to say, the procedure is done, my dogs teeth look amazing and he kept every single one of his teeth. Dr. Heinz is truly the most compassionate individual that my family has been honored to have taken care of our beloved Spike. I have brought my pet there for 4 yrs and never will again. My dog broke his nail and we couldn't stop the bleeding. After asking for an emergency appointment I was put on hold for 3 minutes and then told they were overbooked and to go to a walk in hospital 40 minutes away. Dr Heinz never even came to the phone nor did anyone else give advice to help me stop the bleeding which was profuse. I called Banfield pet hospital in holmdel and they gave me immediate advice and then gave me an appointment . Love the Dr and staff at Banfield and the way they helped my pet during an emergency. Not happy after bringing my 6 week old rescue puppy to two visits with Dr. Janice Hinchliffe. In my opinion she needlessly prescribed overly mild worming meds so that she could keep charging for testing and follow-ups. She did not diagnose that pup was deaf, which my excellent dog trainers at Urban Dawgs determined immediately upon meeting pup. She spoke to me in an obnoxious baby voice using words like "poopies and peepees". Not sure if she was supposed to be the toddler or me. I ended up taking pup to another vet where I was more than satisfied. read more

I have been taking our two Goldens to Two Rivers Animal Hospital since we got them in July 2014. Doctor Heins has always treated them with kindness and compassion. He spayed and neutered them just before Thanksgiving weekend in 2015 to make post-op care easy for us because we both worked at the time. We have used Two Rivers for all their preventive care and clears time for them should an emergent issue arise. Before the Goldens, we worked with Saint Bernard rescue to give Saints a forever home. Most of our rescues had come from pretty bad situations and as a result did not live to full life expectancy. He put down our last three Saints when the time came. He always comforted me during the difficult process and assured me that my decision was the right one in view of the circumstances. We live in Jackson but travel the extra distance because we trust, respect, and love Doctor Heins. read more

We are very fortunate to have Dr. Heins as our vet. We have been clients for over 10 years and we were so happy when Dr. Heins opened his own practice, where he gives everyone individualized, personal attention. It's a bit of a drive for us to get to the office, but it's well worth every one of the 35 minutes in the car. Dr. Heins has helped us find solutions to make our Lab (who had two TPLO surgeries in the past) comfortable; not to mention he is extremely patient with our rescue dog that has severe anxiety issues.
