"There is nothing which has yet been contrived by man, by which so much happiness is produced as by a good tavern." Samuel Johnson With a full bar and great beers on tap and serving up traditional bar fare as well as some German inspired dishes, Two Tire Tavern meets the bill for a great stop when in Helen. Popular with bikers driving through the Georgia mountains, it's a fun place with good service. Overall A-OK!

My husband saw that this spot had a burger challenge, so he decided to take it down. The waitress said that he would get a t shirt as the prize because they were out of steins, and since she said he could keep the cup he had his beer in anyway, it seemed like a good deal. When he was ordering she made it seem like the fries were optional, and he even asked if it was necessary for completing the challenge, to which she didn't provide a clear answer. When my husband finished his burger but not the fries, that's when she informed him he needed to for the prize, so he pushed through and forced them down...just for them to be out of t shirts and give him another cup! He wouldn't have given himself a stomach ache if we had known. The food was overall fine but we thought the waitress could have been better.

Came here starving while in the area. I ordered a side salad and the sausage platter that came with three different types of wurst with sauerkraut and potatoes. It was good, I am just not a fan of German food. The best part were the employees. The ladies that took care of us were so nice and personable. They took care of us and let us try the beer we wanted before we ordered.

Our first time eating here and it was absolutely delicious. All the food was very delicious. The staff is very nice and getting things you need. Didn't wait long for our food. We stayed and watched the football game on the big TV.

Middle one is a grapefruit beer that the waitress took a picture of so I'd remember what it's called. It's delicious I thought.

Confusing at first, but really glad I stayed, because it turned out great. At first I was told the kitchen was closed, but I could sit outside on the patio with my dog & have a drink. I ordered a grapefruit beer which was divine, excellent. Then the waitress said they changed their minds & reopened the kitchen. They had been slammed earlier, ran out of some items. People were all super nice & friendly, lots of great dogs on the patio. Chili was really great & filling. I got full & couldn't finish it. Great portion. Shredded cheese, but no sour cream. Waitress was extremely nice. She took a picture of the draft beer so I can remember the name later. We are looking at big bright Christmas trees across the street. Warm heaters were placed on the patio. Tiny train tour is next door, & they welcome dogs onboard.

My hubby ordered the Mountain Man burger and said it was probably the BEST burger he's ever eaten!

My husband and I enjoyed the food & service, but the ambiance stole the show!! There was a live performer named Dillon playing on the patio and he was amazing! Plus the multiple porch heaters kept us plenty warm on the cold winter night. It was great sitting outside and seeing the lights and people watching. Will definitely eat here again!

We were hungry and enjoyed our meals! Not sure if I would order German Potato Salad again, not for my Southern taste. I had the Two Meat Platter and my husband had the Rueben with onion Rings. We were seated inside and it was quiet and relaxing.

The best part is definitely the setting--you can sit and watch tubers float down the river while you eat. Just keep in mind there are no fans or air conditioning, so it can get pretty hot... The menu posted on the food truck/website is not the full menu, so make sure to ask for the paper copy. They're known for the Buddha Burger and also have some healthier options. The food was okay for me, but if you love greasy smash burgers, you'd probably rate it much higher. One thing I didn't love was the pricing. Prices have increased, and there is an upcharge for paying by credit card that I didn't see mentioned on their website. There are also no fountain drinks--everything is bottled and purchased separately. Service was great. The person cooking and serving us was very friendly and genuinely eager to tell us about the food, the location, and their sister restaurant (Hoochee's River basket). Overall, I'd stop by again if I were already in the area, especially for a casual picnic-style meal with a nice river view. The atmosphere/location is really what makes it unique.

If you've spent more than five minutes eating your way through Alpine Helen GA, you already know…read morethe truth: finding genuinely good, made-from-scratch food here feels like a competitive sport--and most places are losing. Campfire Restaurant isn't just winning... it's playing a completely different game. I've been here since day one, watching owner Matt and his crew build this place with intention and pride. This isn't a "let's open and see what happens" spot--this is passion, detail, and respect for doing food right. In a town where "authentic" can mean reheated and overpriced, Campfire stands out like a perfectly cooked ribeye in a sea of mediocrity. The vibe hits immediately--rustic North Georgia lodge meets modern comfort. Wood, textures, that Smoky Mountains ambiance. Indoor dining is cozy, outdoor dining under Edison lights is where the magic lives. It's date night, family dinner, or "I survived today" energy all in one place. Locals recommend this place for a reason--and locals don't hype things lightly. Now the food. Everything is made in-house--real Southern food, comfort food, and American food with flavor and consistency. The Southwest Gunpowder Nachos? Legendary. Handmade chips, massive portions--get steak and extra corn. It's two meals unless you're me. Best value in Helen. The smash burger is easily one of the best in Georgia--juicy, consistent, unforgettable. Fried chicken is solid, but locals will tell you: get the chicken tenders. Ribeye is tender, juicy, and always recommended. Mac and cheese? Creamy, different--but I'll admit I'm biased because mine is elite. Still worth trying. And the s'mores dessert--if you don't have room, make room. It's rich, indulgent, and perfect for date night or birthdays. Service has that "Cheers" feel--friendly, consistent, no judgment if you roll in looking like life just happened. They remember you, take care of you, and that matters. Parking is easy in the Alpine village shopping center. Seating is quick if you're smart about timing (don't be silly). Live music adds to the vibe without overpowering it. Prices are reasonable (rare for Helen), portions are big, and quality stays consistent--that trifecta is everything. This is a bucket list, must visit, locals favorite, top rated spot in Alpine Helen GA. Whether it's Oktoberfest, a Smoky Mountains trip, or just a Friday night--this is where you go when you want food that actually delivers. And honestly? In this town... that says everything. #facts REASONS TO VISIT: 1. Must visit, bucket list restaurant in Alpine Helen GA 2. Locals favorite, top rated, best in North Georgia 3.
