Most unprofessional staff I've ever seen. It's a family establishment (which can be a GREAT thing) so they were very lax. They brought in pizza from another restaurant and then three employees ate it in front of customers. Also no staff in masks, no wiping of menus. Food was pretty good. We got hamburgers, barbecue sandwiches and pretzels. Bathrooms were clean. The only reason I took off a star is because they do not make the mask mandatory for servers, cooks or patrons. I did not feel like social distance was being addressed here. What a great tourist trap. And I mean that in the kindest and complimentary way. Wait staff, Stefanie and the host were gracious,accomodating and friendly. Motorcycle parking right out front makes for a convenient and safe place for our bikes. Outdoor patio faces the street so you can enjoy people-watching the tubing tourists. In the 1960s this town was a gas station stop only. After getting together and partnering with a German town it turned into a mini-Bavaria. I didn't see any Lederhosen, though. Arrived in Helen GA after a ten hour drive from florida and needed a place to eat that was sit down. We went to this establishment and ordered. My daughter had a burger and onion rings, I had ten lemon pepper wings and my girlfriend had a sausage platter. The wings were nice and crispy and full of flavor. My daughter thought her burger and rings were good but my girlfriend was very disappointed with her platter. The best part she said was the pretzel roll other than than that she thought it was a waste. With our drinks it came up to $72. Very overpriced and felt ripped off by it. Food is sub‐par and overpriced,whatever you do stay away from the chili cheese fries. I think the chili has been pre-made a year ago and frozen then thawed out and used. The owner is very unfriendly and when confronted (I personally watched and heard him use profanity in front of small children) While visiting this town, most people are very cordial, but our experience at this place to put it lightly "sucked" and almost ruined our trip. Service was wonderful. Don't mind giving the one star because the staff was very friendly and fast. The food was disgusting. I ordered a two sausage platter. Husband got a bacon cheeseburger. The pretzel roll tasted like mold. Both wursts were over cooked. Like burst open crunchy dry burnt. The hamburger tasted like it was rancid. Didn't even want to feed it to our dog they allowed us to bring to the outside deck. We were so put off we didn't even want to talk to anyone. Paid our tab after two bites and left. it's been a day and my stomach is still queasy. It was quite frankly the most disgusting meal I have ever been served in 43 years of living. Maybe a talk with a manager would have rectified it but it was so bad we didn't want to eat anything from there again. We recently decided to take a motorcycle run and overnight in Helen, Georgia. It's fall and the weather has turned nice and it was time to get out and see some color in the hills. We found this great little place by accident and really enjoyed some good German beer and a yummy Reuben sandwich. Misty was the barkeep and she was delightful. We went after Octoberfest, we just can't deal with the crowds. We were in a cabin for a few days and drive into town to grab a bite. My husband and I both got a Ruben, he got fries and I had the German potato salad. The sandwich was excellent, on of the best I've had. The meat was thick, the cheese soft and gooey, and the sauerkraut just right, oh it was delicious! I'm a French fry addict and my husbands fries were soooo good, crisp and hot on the outside and tender and fluffy inside, I probably ate half of them. My potato salad was good, not great, but that was because I prefer my German potato salad with a little more bacon and I like a sweet-tart vinegary flavor to it, and this needed a bit more bite. It might just be my preference but it was a bit bland. The sweet ice tea was perfect and fresh, important to a southerner! We sat on the patio because we had our dog and they are dog friendly outside. The service was great, quick, friendly, and efficient, she even brought a snack for our pup. The sandwich was so good we came back the next day for another, even thought it was pouring rain. Watch out from this place. RACISTS AND AGRESSIVE CREW. We went on a Saturday to Helen and decided to eat here with my family. Once we got to the entrance we got greeted by an old lady screaming at us that "they are at full capacity and the wait time was approximately an hour" we decided to stay and wait... noticing that parties of 4 and 5 were able to pass but not us. Then we tried to reach out to the hostess again about what was happening and she decided to ignore us and kept going on with other things. Then when we asked why she was letting other people with big parties go in but not us, she got aggressive saying that it wasn't true. Then the other ladies working over there came and started screaming at us that that's what happens when the restaurant is at full capacity and other nonsense. Then one of them "threatened to called a manager" and when we told them to go ahead and do it they backed down and didn't do nothing. We then proceeded to leave and another employee from the place started following us screaming at us. NEVER COMING BACK TO THIS PLACE. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! read more

So it started with the use of their bathroom which were clean. Then a few beers outside ? Tried their potatoes pancakes definitely delicious. Didn't care for their hot wings nothing hot about them just some sauce that really makes your finger orange . It started off great with quick seating outside on a very busy Saturday night. However, it went downhill from there. The staff had pizza delivered, and they were all eating while seating guests. They basically stopped working. The bartender was literally eating while pouring beer/ serving drinks. No masks or gloves were worn by any staff. Our drinks from the bar came out quickly, but we had to get our own water, plates, and napkins. The hostess was roasting marshmallows on a receipt stick while seating customers. Five stars, but. . . Five of us went to the place for a late lunch on St.Patrick's day. We were greeted and seated promptly. We placed our order and the food came out quickly. The server was knowledgeable and attentive. There was a slight mix up on the separate checks, but the server fixed it immediately. Everyone agreed that the meal was very good. I noted that an 18% percent gratuity was added to our check. Personally, I don't like this practice, but ok, not really a problem. Then the portable credit card reader came out. The first screen said something like: "Do you want to leave a tip" and gave suggested percentages, including a "No Tip" option. I asked why do they do this when 18 % is already added to the check. The server said the 18% percent was a service charge that management kept. We were outraged and asked, "does that means you don't get a tip?" She replied "Sometimes." So I added $7.00 and signed the reader with my finger. My sister-in-law hunted down a member of "management" to discuss this situation. We were taken aside, with the server, and it was explained that the 18% was not a service charge retained by management, but was a tip, provided to the servers in their paychecks. The server said: "I didn't know that." Really? She didn't know what she got paid? Ok she didn't know. She does now, unless she forgets. Caveat emptor. read more

I'm pretty lenient when it comes to restaurants because I've been a server. It takes a lot for me to be mad. That being said, this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. We sat for about 15 minutes before being greeted. Our food took, and I'm not exaggerating, over an hour for 2 burgers. I ordered mine medium and it was completely over cooked. I tried to save it with ketchup but it was awful. Rock hard. Add to that the $13 price for a bad burger & handful of fries, and it's not worth it at all. It took another half an hour just to get our check. Everybody working seems like they're mad. Awful service. Terrible food. The only saving grace is the beer. Don't sit inside. I would absolutely avoid this place, and I'm honestly upset that we wasted a meal here on our short trip to Helen. read more
