Came here with my alumni group (with 28 of us) and we had a blast. Two Twisted Posts had set aside a private tented area for us, and allowed us to order wine by the glass or by the bottle from a staff member who was assigned to us. They also offered tastings, but as it was our third winery we opted not to do the tasting. Live music and corn hole were also great touches. As others have said, Two Twisted Posts is on a winery-heavy stretch of Harpers Ferry Road off route 9, in northwest Loudoun county. Throw a stone in any direction and you could hit another winery - crazy! But of the group of wineries that have sprung up past Breaux Vineyards, Two Twisted Posts is my favorite. For many reasons. 1) The owners are delightful, 2) the staff are informative and passionate about wine (and animals). 3) The location is more intimate, not as flashy as many spots in the county. 4) The wine is uniformly great. In fact, several years ago their chardonnay was entered in the Governor's Cup contest and won....and their tasting room was not even open yet (Virginia law requires a winning winery to have a public tasting room). So the owners set up a tent while their main tasting room was under construction. That chardonnay is perfect, and the Vidal Blanc is terrific too, a great summer wine, and not as sweet as most Vidal Blancs are. The Petit Verdot and Cab Franc are fine dry offerings for the red fans (and colder weather). My only (minor) gripe is that they are not open on Friday (yet). I am entertaining out of town guests on a Friday in late July and would have loved to take them to Two Twisted Posts for an example of damn near perfect Virginia winery experience. read more

The interesting name of this Winery was what drew me to it. Once there, we were greeted warmly and were immediately attended to by a couple of friendly ladies. I really loved their 2012 Petit Verdot, rest were okay. They had some interesting tales to tell us about the name of the Winery and the history surrounding the name. The shape of their wine glasses is pretty unique too! I will probably revisit this charming Winery just to listen to the tales again! I gave the 5 star rating primarily because it is very important to me how I and my family are treated at the local businesses and these guys were top notch! read more

My absolute favorite red wine is made by 2 Twisted Posts - the 'Don't Call Me a Cab' The tasting area is a teeny room in the front of a small barn, with a nice shaded porch-like outdoor sitting area & bar in the back. The yard has chairs & a hammock for relaxing, and there are usually a few big friendly dogs lying about between tables of guests. The vibe is relaxed and the drink is goooood. :-) read more

I love supporting new wineries. And I like these folks. Samantha was super sweet. Tastings are $10 per person. The pours certainly support the price though. I like their reds -- all except the 2011. But then I don't like ANY 2011 (it just wasn't a good year for reds). They had done a big harvest here and there were some fruit flies, however, you just shoo them and keep sippin'. Ok, so this is several months late (this was in July when I was visiting home from Vegas)... But seriously the best place to go for a family run at home feel with great wine. It's kind of like Cheers where you feel like you're a local hanging out with friends drinking wine on the porch. The owners even let me do a "Trash the Dress" photo shoot there after my ex husband and I separated. So they allowed me to stand in their vineyard and in my wedding dress get completely covered in paint and then they helped me clean myself up. We had stopped at Cardamon a few hundred yards before here. Driving down the road I saw a sign that read 'open' it had to be a winery so I pulled up the drive... First impression was not so good. No signs, no path... I ventured forth towards the barn, my wife was ready to run for the car. I heard voices inside so I made myself known. I hoped that this would end well... We were greeted, they apologized for the lack of signage etc. this was thee second weekend of being open & I had entered them via the back door. Oh err! A lovely & pleasant lady escorted us around to the front door, where we were greeted warmly by the mother & daughter who were inside. This is very much a family business we learnt. A grand fathers dream & as a grand fathers dream works out, it involves the entire family... Turns out that the owners/wine makers are British, as was I. They introduced themselves as being from Brentford. I told them that I was sorry for that. I'm a Yorkshireman by birth, so anything else doesn't hold up. The wife got to qoffing the wines. Very good! Extremely good! Disappointment that the reds were not quite ready, but going by the quality of the other wines they will be award winners too. They won the governers cup. Part of winning this required them to be open to the public. Two years ahead of their plan. Hence their growing pains, aka signage etc... But this is a place to watch. They have big plans. Putting green, a walking trail etc. they will do it! Either way you go to a winery for the wines. My wife will assure you that they are top notch. The type that put Napa Valley to shame. read more

We spent a lovely afternoon at Two Twisted Posts this past Saturday, April 27th. 15 of us in total enjoyed the vineyard for a surprise birthday party. Long story short... we had a blast. A few highlights: * The wine was great. Everyone enjoyed each of our bottles purchased. Both reds and whites. * We also did a group tasting for the 15 of us which was wonderful. * You can bring your own food which we did for the party. They also had a food truck on location which was serving up some great Texas BBQ. * The outdoor space is awesome. Big beautiful lawn, outdoor fire pit, plenty of yard games, a very nice outdoor bar, the whole nine. * Live music performed all afternoon - it was fun. * Finally, major shout out to Casey who was our person of contact there. Not only was she very accommodating and professional to our group of 15, but she was also just down right fun and a joy to be around. I think we even all did some karaoke together before the day was done. We had a perfect afternoon at Two Twisted Posts, and I will absolutely be returning in the future! read more

Excellent wine! There was a delicious peach sangria here that had a hint of spice to it which made my day! Excellent drink for the coming Fall season. Beautiful building and the wines were excellent! Outside there is beautiful vineyards to get pictures by, a fire pit, and seating. There was a band there that evening, if you're into that. Definitely a great winery that should get more acclaim! Highly recommend stopping by if your in the area or in Harper's Ferry, only 15 minutes away. read more

Went to Two Twisted Posts yesterday for a special event: they hosted an "Elvis Day"--complete with Jed Duvall as the Elvis impersonator. It was fantastic and exceptionally well suited to the small venue--allowed for a lot of playful fun between Jed and the patrons. Their wines are truly excellent in quality and affordably priced. I recommend the Petite Verdot--although others at our table enjoyed Thomas Great and the Vidal Blanc. The staff is friendly, cheerful, and exceptionally hospitable! There's ample parking...and even a cheerful fire for those who want to sit outside (weather permitting). Two Twisted Posts should definitely be a stop on ANY wine tour in this part of Loudoun County! read more

Great winery! Casey took great care of us and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Wines were great and I love the winemaker's style. I'm more of a crisp white drinker who hates Chardonnay but loved her Chardonnay and even bought a red which I never do. Casey offered to build us a fire outside in their fire pit so we could enjoy our picnic which was appreciated. Can't wait to go back when the weather is nicer. Favorite stop of the day! read more

The setting is very peaceful, the tasting room is a bit rustic. They did some interesting things with their 2011 chardonnay to account for the poor season. The 2012 governor's case chardonnay lived up to the hype. Their Cab Francs were also stand outs. Surprisingly, the Don't Call me a Cab (non-Cabernet Cabernet) served chilled was quite good. that one caught me by surprise. The wines were solid and impressed us, but the varieties we really enjoyed were a bit overpriced in my opinion. Also, the credit card machine is on the fritz constantly. read more

Decent but unremarkable wines. All of the award-winners were already sold out. The tasting room was kind of chaotic, both due to the crowds and the style of the people doing the pouring. Personally I much prefer 868 Vineyards down the street - much better wines and a calmer atmosphere. I think the high rating here is mostly due to the bottle prices being a few dollars cheaper than your average Leesburg winery. Keep in mind though that a tasting is $10, which is a few bucks higher than average. read more

For an up and coming place, their wine really is good. The tasting room is small and the view isn't as great as other local wineries, but they make up for it by having quite a few solid wines. If you are visiting other wineries in the area of Purcellville, please take a moment and do yourself a favor by stopping by Two Twisted Posts. What an awesome experience. Yes, it is smaller and overall very quaint. But this is actually why I enjoyed it! I picked it because it was newer and had already won awards on their wines. From the moment you drive up, you know it is going to be a personal experience. The tasting room/building is literally a small barn. The tasting room is in the entryway when you go inside. The family was there greeting people and the staff were all very informed and seemed to love being there. We had Cosco (spelling?) - he had his bird, Sage, hanging out on his shoulder the whole time. With each wine he poured, there was another meal pairing and full explanation about how that wine came to be. He was so passionate when speaking about the grapes, the process, and the finished product. I even found the first ever Chardonnay that I've ever liked here! The whole experience was really great! I will definitely be coming back to watch them grow and to continue drinking all of their delicious wine! read more

I haven't enjoyed a visit to a winery this much in a long time. We were warmly greeted by Casey and Caroline as we entered the rustic tasting room. Our sommelier was Casey who was both knowledgeable and delightful. We were guided through a journey of how Two Twisted Posts came to be. Casey even had interesting stories behind the creation of each of the wines. The pours were big enough to actually taste the wine (other wineries please take note). As a whole, I felt their wine stood up to the many other wines at Virginia wineries I have visited. I'm a red drinker and generally don't enjoy white wines but I enjoyed their Chardonnay and Vidal Blanc. But I especially enjoyed the Governor's Cup medal winning Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Loved them so much we bought a couple of bottles. Which brings me to my final point. The prices were $25 each. So they don't soak you like other Virginia wineries for their Governor's Cup medal winning wines. After the tasting we remained in the tasting room with a glass of wine. There was an acoustic guitar available for anyone to play. I don't play, but I will learn, just so I can go back to Two Twisted Posts and play. Thank you Casey! read more

Did a wine tasting here with 14 others; the folks here went above and beyond to make our tasting (a birthday wine tour) great. While this is still a new winery so do not expect a grand venue the staff is extremely knowledgeable and tasting room is nice and welcoming. Highly recommend this winery, I've been to many in this area and they are by far the nicest and their wine is great! I just cannot say enough complements about this winery. I would have given this place 3 or maybe even 4 starts if it wasn't for how we were treated by the staff and manager. I actually really enjoyed the wine and planned purchase several bottles, but they decided to consider 7 people a large group....I get large groups can make wine tastings difficult for venues, but 7 isn't a large group. Not to mention it literally took them 15 minutes to get us through the entire tasting, and no one was waiting to taste after we were completed. So since we were a large group we were changed $2 extra for the tasting which honestly really didn't upset me too much. It wasn't until when they refused to honor our wine passes because we were a large group that I was really bothered by Two Twisted Posts. The wine pass allowed us to get BOGO wine tasting, and we had two in our group. I've been a wine pass holder for three years, and my has been even longer and has never had this issue. We politely asked to speak the manager, and she came over and without hesitation and refused to accept the pass and said if you read our website you'd know what a group was....(I checked the website and I could not find the information and it is not on the wine pass page either) I've never been treated so rudely by a winery or any place to be honest. It was like they didn't want our business. So we let her know ok that's fine. We will be happy to ONLY pay for our tastings, and no one of this large group will be purchases any bottles which would have been about 14 and we would not be returning to the winery again.... read more

Visited recently and was extremely unimpressed. Overpriced tasting and apparently was charged $3 for the glass when it was not even communicated you were paying for it nor keeping it upon leaving. Wines were not pleasurable to sip and several had extremely off-putting aromas and tastes. I work in a restaurant and have done an extensive amount of wine tasting for menu updates, and some of the pours were so unpleasant I rinsed out instead of finishing (a disappointment after paying $14 for a wine tasting). Outside area was nice with live music, however, lots of bugs outside so have bug spray readily available. read more

Not understanding the great reviews of this place. Went in on the recommendation of a friend of the owners. Extremely friendly staff. Greeted upon walking in with a smile. Our taster was very nice even though only her second day. She did a great job. Other girl working very helpful also. Super eager to answer any questions. A third young girl in behind the tasting bar not so much. She looked younger and very uncomfortable. One restroom in the production area. Not ideal. It was clean. Outside area some spots for sitting. .Wines were ok nothing to write home about. Maybe just not our taste. They did win some awards. No snacks available, while we were there they seemed confused abut this? All in all there quite a few other wineries right on same street, which offer so much more including some that have small facilities like this one. read more
