Disappointing Product and Even More Disappointing Customer Service…read moreMy wife and I have been loyal Best Buy customers for many years, which makes this experience especially disappointing. On February 8, 2025, we purchased an Insignia 13.8 cu. ft. garage-ready upright freezer from the Best Buy store in Encinitas, California, for approximately $610. We expected a major household appliance to provide many years of reliable service. Instead, after only 16 months of normal household use, the freezer failed completely. I recognize that the manufacturer's warranty had expired by four months. However, I believe it is reasonable to expect a freezer to last far longer than 16 months. When I contacted Best Buy Customer Service, I was told I would need to pay $129 for a diagnostic visit, followed by an estimated $200-$300 for repairs if recommended. That meant a potential total cost of $329-$429, with no guarantee the freezer could actually be repaired. I was also informed that these service charges would not be refunded if the repair was unsuccessful. Given those circumstances, repairing the unit simply did not make financial sense. We decided to purchase a replacement freezer from Costco instead. What disappointed me most was not just the product failure--it was Best Buy's response. Despite the unusually short life of the appliance, no goodwill accommodation or assistance was offered. Before posting this review, I sent a detailed letter to Best Buy's corporate management requesting they review the situation and consider a reasonable goodwill resolution. I received no response. I'm not suggesting every product will have the same outcome. However, based on my experience, I expected both a longer-lasting appliance and a stronger commitment to customer satisfaction when a product fails so prematurely. I hope Best Buy will reconsider how situations like this are handled in the future. Long-time customers deserve better communication and a willingness to stand behind products that fail far earlier than anyone would reasonably expect.

I found the apple section grabbed my cable and proceeded to the front of the store. I waited a minute as all the cashiers were busy, and a man came from the side and opened up a new register for me. He asked for my number to input into the computer to pull up my account. I gave him my number and asked him to use the gift certificate on my account to pay for it. He found it no problem applied it and my total was 53¢. Quick easy and friendly transaction.

I attempted to return it immediately, but after waiting approximately 1.5 hours, I was told the system was down and to come back another day. On my next visit, after another lengthy wait, I was told to drive to AT&T to have the phone unlocked. AT&T informed me they could not help because the device was sold and controlled by Best Buy. I then returned to Best Buy and was told to wait 48 hours and try again. Over the course of multiple visits, my family spent well over 10 hours trying to resolve what should have been a straightforward exchange for a defective phone. The final visit alone took approximately 5 hours to complete the return, replacement, and data transfer. What is most disappointing is not that the phone was defective--manufacturing defects happen. The issue is the repeated misinformation, multiple trips, excessive wait times, and lack of ownership in resolving the problem. My wife and I have two young children, and the amount of time required to fix a problem we did not create was unreasonable. I have attempted to raise these concerns directly but have not received a meaningful response. I'm posting this review in hopes that someone from Best Buy management or customer relations will review this situation and explain how this level of customer service is acceptable.

I purchased an open-box laptop from the San Marcos location and specifically asked the associate to reset it before I left. I was told I could reset it myself at home without any issues. Unfortunately, when I got home, the laptop was locked with BitLocker, and I had no access to the recovery key because I was not the previous owner. When I asked for assistance, several associates in the laptop department and another manager named Chris were dismissive and made me feel as though I had done something wrong simply for purchasing a laptop that their store sold to me. I felt judged and treated like I was trying to steal something, even though the problem was caused by incorrect information and an open-box laptop that had not been properly prepared for resale. I was sent to another Best Buy location, where I was told to return to San Marcos. I even purchased a two-year Geek Squad membership and had the laptop reset, but I still did not have access to the BitLocker recovery key, making the laptop essentially unusable. When I returned to San Marcos and spoke with Joe, everything changed. Joe took the time to listen, understand my situation, and acknowledge that what happened was not acceptable. He treated me with dignity and respect, went above and beyond to find a solution, and genuinely made me feel valued as a customer. Joe truly touched my heart with his kindness, professionalism, and willingness to help. I am forever grateful for the way he handled the situation. Best Buy is fortunate to have a manager like him. Joe, I wish you nothing but continued success and blessings. God bless you!

Right after my misadventure and frustration at another nearby store, I ended up at this Target. It's a large Target with a good sized grocery area, clean including the restrooms, a Starbucks and a pharmacy. The beauty/personal care product area of the store is fairly large. I miss having Ulta here, but oh, well. Even tho this store is fairly busy, they don't have whole aisles of products locked up, unlike a nearby competitor. I found what I wanted and plan on coming back when I have more time. I stopped over in the grocery area, where Francis who may have been working as a Target personal shopper filling someone's list, asked me if I needed help finding something. It's so nice to feel seen in a store. As a senior, I sometimes don't feel that way. As I was going back to the registers, I noticed other employees asking people if they needed help finding things - one even walked a shopper over to the area that had what she needed. I feel like in what seems to be a stressful time in the world and in many of our lives, with increased prices and conflict. I will still choose to go shopping in an actual store if possible, especially a store with good customer service and unlocked nail polish remover. I just wish that Target would again have products that supported the LGBTQ and black communities. Even tho I am a straight old white lady, I still bought some of those products.

We used to go to Target all the time, but stopped because they rolled back DEI initiatives. This Target is definitely better than the other Targets in the area so would go here if you need to go to . Was able to get the book for 20% off which was nice. They have eliminated a lot of workers I feel like with the automated checkout areas, but that is the way the world is changing. I try to go to a human cashier whenever possible. Human connection helps us be better people and it might save their job. The book is great btw. It's a mix between Ready Player One and Hunger Games.
