Labor for service call was $239 which included trying to repair onsite, taking back to shop for further testing of power board, ordering new power board and delivery of repaired TV. This family owned local business is very professional, knowledgeable, and reliable. They responded very quickly, and held the appointment time. They were respectful of home, property, and TV. They removed TV from wall, diagnosed the problem, and presented an estimate. They have knowledge about my TV and did not recommend repairs because most likely it is not fixable. My TV is under warranty, so I was advised to contact Manufacturer for a new TV. I highly recommend this business, and I will be a return customer when needed. I cannot day enough good things about California Video Repair. First of all, they do housecalls! Yes, actual housecalls! Which was invaluable for me because there was no way I would be able to transport a 61" LED DLP HDTV in any vehicle I own. I explained that my beloved TV had blown capacitors about 12-18 months earlier and that I needed someone to have a look at it. They arrived on time and were quickly able to open up the TV and pull the power board with the visibly blown capacitors and a few fried resistors. They took it back to the shop to work on and came back out for the install and test, all part of the original quote (which included the original housecall). Unfortunately it didn't fix the problem, so they loaded up the TV to go back to the shop for additional work. Fast-Forward a few days and I'm informed that there is additional damage to the system, a few components and boards that need repairs/replacing, none of which is a surprise, really. They ask for a few days to properly research to components because the immediately found parts seem "too pricey" (their words!) and they need some additional time to get the most bang for my buck. A few days later I get a call to tell me the parts/labor cost for the job, from which was generously deducted quite a bit of the costs I'd already paid, and I gladly gave he go ahead. Some additional time was needed because the TV was exhibiting some weird symptoms that required additional research even after they repairs/replacements had been made, but I was totally fine with that since the TV had already been dead for well over a year already. Today my TV was delivered to my home as good as new! Repaired, tested, glorious, and cleaned inside and out. As beautiful as the day I bought it and with a full 1 year warranty covering the parts and labor! All this, and well within the budget I had set for myself to get the TV back up and running. This was the most unprofessional " service " i have ever dealt with Took my Sony tv , was supposed to let me know what the problem was within two days. Paid him $ 190 when he came to pick up the tv .He told me he would have problem diagnosed within two days . I texted him and called numerous times to no avail. Finally talked to him on the phone and he was" just going to call me to let me know they would be working on my tv the following morning. This was a Friday, a week after he picked up my tv. Heard nothing on Friday or Saturday and he is closed on Monday Finally spoke to him after texting and calling and he told me my problem was the mother board . Part was $600 and would take 7-10 days to receive After 10 days I called him and he informed me the part would be another 5 days ....and that after replacing the mother board there could be other problems !!!! So, my Samsung big screen Smart TV (not quite 3 y/o) went blank (in the midst of a Yellowstone episode!!!). I call California Video Repair, left a voicemail. 10-15 minutes later, Jim, the owner calls me back. He asks me a few questions, then he schedules me for a house visit for two days later. Twenty minutes after conversation, Jim calls me back and asks- "...you sure you don't have an extended warranty?" As I tried to revive my memory, he was giving suggestions of whom I could call to confirm any possible warranty coverage. As it turns out, IT DID HAVE WARRANTY COVERAGE!!! Jim probably saved me over $1,000! We had a total of three phone conversations, he guided me through the warranty process, and get this...nothing in it for him!?1? Who does that today? So when I first called, the guy was nice , prompt decently professional. I thought it was off there was so many tvs in the shop just stacked. When I asked him, he said some people never pick them up. No biggie.he said he would have the estimate the next day (Saturday) no call. When I called it was closed till Tuesday. Called Tuesday said it wasn't done. Called Wednesday said he needed to replace the mother board $170. We took the tv in because my daughter had splashed water on the front (not alot) tv started shutting off volume didn't work. We got back in town Friday was not able to get the tv till Tuesday (not for lack of trying). When we finally got the tv out. Scheduled for someone else to take a look.
