On a scale of 1 to "8 out of 10 cockroaches recommend," I'm giving this place two stars and I'm gonna tell you why. As an ant myself, I was immediately disappointed. Two of the soda spigots had broken! This highly impacted the fluid depth in the overflow drain and several ants had drowned. Seeing that much carnage nearly ruined things for me, but I'm a glass half-full kinda gal. As an ant, cleaning up sticky, gluey dead bodies is just an excuse for a party. There were enough ants still breaststroking to show our group the way to the Congo line. So don't worry if you're an ant who needs a place to cool your tootsies on your drive south on I-45. The drink trough still contains enough moist residue to attract a welcoming crowd of your peers who will lead you to the fun. The congo line snakes through the dining hall and straight up a table leg to where a couple ladies are celebrating major birthdays. If you hurry, you can still catch them. If you're lucky, you and 10 or 12 of your new friends can hitch a ride on the older one's sweatshirt hem and startle her every few miles for the rest of the trip. Crawl across the phone while she writes her review, make both of them question whether something is crawling on them, that sort of thing. We ordered ahead of time. When we got there to pickup, the drive through was closed so we had to go in. They hadn't even started our order and it took them over 5 minutes to acknowledge we were waiting for assistance. The establishment is really going downhill. The food was overcooked, the burgers were burnt and the onion rings were overcooked, also. This has been my spot for years when traveling from Houston to Kerens. I stopped in Saturday around 3:30 pm and ordered 2 #1's with cheese, one with fries, the other with onion rings. I've been coming here since I was a child and am now in my mid 40s. After what I've seen it become, I won't return. The burger patties used to come out hot off the grill with a bit of grease dripping. As of September 2, 2023, the burger was lukewarm, precooked, and didn't even melt the slice of cheese between the patties. The heat was required for the flavor to come through and it's become a shadow if my memories. I'm glad my niece was able to experience the difference back in 2019, when I introduced her to it but I wouldn't ever bring her back. As it stands, I do not see this restaurant lasting another 5yrs if this is their "new" quality moving forward. read more

I'm a 1st timer. My wife and I were on our way home from Galveston. She suggested TX Burger. We stopped at the one in Fairfield. Every bit as good as Whataburger if not better in my opinion. The burger was juicy but not greasy and the bun was toasted just right. The seasoned fries were excellent. Also, the sweet tea is superb. When I'm in these parts for now on, I'll make sure to stop at a TX Burger. Great quality, great service and great price. P.S. Not sure about some of the "not so stellar" reviews here on Yelp but my guess is they must either be from the competing burger joints and/or they're vegetarians. read more

The drive up or down I-45 between Dallas & Houston is incomplete without a stop at TX Burger. They have a garden burger/vegan option & many omnivore choices - you can't go wrong with any of the choices here. Delicious, well made, head and shoulders above other fast food burger options. 8 of us arrived at 8:42pm. The worker told us they closed in 10 minutes, which would have been 8:52 and the hours stated they closed at 9. This is a perfectly fine TX Burger in terms of quality. The building needs some work for sure - it's clean, but desperately in need of an update. Seats are worn, nubs of napkins are shoved under the table legs to stop constant rocking. You know the story: They focus on food but not only facilities. I guess that's ok but I think a little money on new or repaired tables would go a long way. Another oddity is that Texas Pete's hot sauce is sitting out to grab for the table, but you have to ask for ketchup for your fries. read more

Worse location of all the TX Burgers I've been to, all of which have always been great. This place was dirty and the servers seemed very casual about Covid protection. It's combined with a Subway which was also gross. I think the combo of two places is too much for them to handle. Unfortunately I tried this place as a dine in (usually get drive thru at buffalo location)and it took 15-20 minutes to get our food! INSANE. The "good" first. The burger meat is ground on site and never frozen. I personally think their taste is the best of the local fast food burgers. Now for the "bad". Some of the worst service you will find at the local fast food places. If you do a drive thru order you can sometimes just sit where the orders are taken until you just give up and leave or drive on around to the pick up window and knock on the glass to get someone's attention to take your order. I live here so I know it's very common for that to happen. Hard to rate a place with a lot of good but also a lot of bad. read more
