The only complaint was the "curly fries without the curl"....why not throw in the curl? or take out the seasoning and make it a plain fry? why try to be everything to everyone? Other than than, spectacular. My hubby especially liked the decor inside....clean, new, and a tribute to John Wayne. (I am only reporting 2cd hand b/c I didn't go inside to take a leak.) This is probably the best burger in town. Situated next door to Jack in the Box, it is the better choice when it comes to burgers. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my husband tried the double patty burger and both were very large. Next time, I will order their specialty, the beef burger. The chicken sandwich is OK, but the burger is better. If you have time, dine in, instead of take home because the buns fall apart quickly. read more

Ok, driven by Texas Burger literally hundreds of times as I trace and finally decided to stop and NOT disappointed! I only wish I'd done it years ago. Have to admit the nice folks that work here and how clean the place was stated things off well, then the burger... Aka Patty Melt came out. Well the photos are deciding because it was actually a good size, excellent crisp on the rye bread and grilled pinioned, beef cooked perfectly and actually good floor. Not usually a fan of crinkle cut sweet potato fries but those were awesome... Very crispy not blab nor soggy. Can't want to have to be "traveling by" this one again to try another one of there burgers! Well done!! read more

Noticed this place on the way up from Austin to Lufkin and made note to check it out on the way back. Totally seemed touristy but sometime's that's fun! I know absolutely nothing of this city other than the cute little historic district it has a couple blocks up from here so I had absolutely no baseline or reservations to judge with.. I mean, grade with, judge sounds harsh :P With that said, this was pretty good! I wasn't expecting greatness and I mean, at the end of the day it's a burger you know? I got the double with bacon and cheese. It's piled pretty high and everything seemed fresh. Food was out in probably under 2 minutes which was totally reasonable, and actually surprisingly fast. Lots of inside room, and a relatively large patio that seemed pet friendly. Clean bathrooms, too! It's right off the highway (I think it's 7?) and pretty easy to hit either way. It's sandwiched between the likes of Sonic, Jack in The Box, and some other generic fast food fare so it stands out quite a bit. Also, Nolan Ryan Beef? Cheesy but I wanted to try it. See above touristy comment. All in all pretty solid 4 stars. It's still fast food so it's hard to really knock that out of the park, but it's on the good side of average and expected! Edible, fast, clean. A good pit stop in a town most just pass through, a place I'll likely go to again if in the area. This place drew me in off IH 45 with its promise of Nolan Ryan beef. Well, I can now tell you they struck out on that one. The patty is relatively thin and flavorless, the weakest part of the entire TX Burger experience for me. They did hit a home run with the seasoned fries - prepped hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I tried the special avocado BLT burger, and it came on Texas toast instead of a bun. Wasn't expecting that, but it actually did class the sandwich up. Between the bread, the avocado, and the incredibly crispy bacon (not shorted on that either), everything besides the burger stepped up the game on par with any other good chain. Side note - Walking in, after years of burger joints done up the Five Guys and Smashburger way, felt like taking a trip back to McDonald's. You stand in a line, you place the order, they pull stuff out of the kitchen and hand it back. It feels less fresh, but I'm sure it was just because that's the way things were done when TX Burger was created. I think they could remodel their kitchens to be more open and rejuvenate the ordering experience to add a lot of attractiveness. If you look at Nolan Ryan's baseball career, he had a few dominant seasons in a row but most of it was surprisingly mediocre. I think that goes for this meal as well. read more

Pretty poor quality customer service... we ordered through the drive through window and pulled forward to the window where they gave us our drinks and told us to wait in the waiting spots which we did so, and waited for 20-25 minutes till our food finally came out. After our food came we asked for straws which they forgot to give to us at the window 25 minutes ago and she rolled her eyes and made a rude face, and when she came back she only had 2 straws for 3 drinks!! read more

We were going to the fast food joint next door that was SLAMMED. The place next door was on Yelp and we were on a tight schedule and didn't want to deal with screaming kids. So that is how we ended up coming here. The food takes a while, but this is not fast food. Defiantly has a better sense of place than most burger joints you would find on the road. Most definitely recommend the double... anything double for that matter. The seasoned fires are good but the serving was small--not skimpy, just small. Overall no complaints. Dirty trick! 30 flavors of Blue Bell ice cream to study while my order takes a while to make. This is the original location according to the website. Also, locations seem to be only in the Central Texas area (and east of Waco). I stopped here to avoid the massive crowds at Bucee's. I was put off by how long my order took (15mins), but at 7:45 they were slammed with customers. I had my usual double cheese add bacon, fries, and tea. Combo cost $8.49 plus $0.60 for cheese. The bacon is thick, crispy, and awesome. Overall the taste and quality to me fits well in the "Tier 2" of burgers, but in this area of Texas it is BY FAR the best around. read more

I had never heard of TX Burger, but I recently tried it on my way through Madisonville. I saw a sign promoting their grilled cheese with a patty meal and I thought I'd give it a shot. It tasted okay at the time and filled me up, but I'm not sure I would get it again. The patty tasted not of the best quality and I kind of felt gross after eating it. The fries, however, were absolutely delicious and I would get them again if I get the opportunity. My meal ended up being comped because they charged me the wrong amount, but even if I had paid, the prices weren't terrible, they were pretty on par with other fast food restaurants. Absolutely love this joint! If you are craving a burger this is the place to be. My boyfriend always gets the regular burger but I always get the chicken burger fried not grilled cause hello carbs and calories, I know it's not what you expected me to say but it is the bomb! AND this place has TEXAS PETE HOT SAUCE!!! Not the usual bland Louisiana hot sauce everyone raves about.
