We came here on Sunday after shopping for furniture at Steven Shell. It was a spur of the moment decision and my wife thought it was a golf cart shop with the carts parked out front. Ty's Roadside is super cute, the inside as an old diner feel where you can see the kitchen staff, the outside is nice with a takeout window and tons of seating. Service was excellent, I started with the morning martini and my wife had the fiesta siesta drink. The wings were fantastic and we both had the road side classic, Parmesan grits yum! Bacon and eggs. Came here on a Saturday between 3-4pm which as it turns out is the "reset" hour between brunch and dinner so only pizza is available. Just a heads up. The dining area has a beach/glam look and it was super clean. The waitstaff is very friendly and helpful. We ordered the wood fired pepperoni pizza and it was amazing! We also ordered the Bloody Mary and the island times cocktail and both were excellent and reasonably priced. We took a look at the regular menu and looks like there are many options to choose from, plus the bar is fully stocked and has a ton of draft beer choices - we will most definitely be coming back! read more

This is an update to my previous review. We just went back after a day at the beach and sat outside. There's fans on the patio so it helped keep us cool. They don't have paper menu and crayons for the kids, but gave them pizza dough to play with instead. The kids loved it! As for food, we all fought over the fries, and the kids devoured their chicken tenders and cheeseburger. I had the seafood fettuccine and it was sooo good. My friend had the Caesar salad and added chicken and bacon. Devine! read more

We've been to Ty's Roadside twice in two weeks. Our first experience was just OK, but as a supporter of all Mt. P businesses, I wanted to visit again, quickly, and I'm so glad we did. Our second experience last night was terrific. It's a free standing building on W. Coleman Blvd. in the former Smoke location. There's a small parking lot behind the building; however, diners can park in the GDC lot across the street after 5:00 pm, or in Brookgreen Center, across Coleman, so parking is really not an issue, even during peak hours. There's plenty of seating ... outdoor, on benches; on the covered patio (yes, they have ceiling fans) or inside, where it is cool and comfortable. We opted for the latter. The indoor dining area is large, and well designed. Choose among booth, high top, table or bar seating. Bright and welcoming, you'll feel comfortable upon arrival and immediately greeted at check in. The drink menu has something to please any preference ... 5 refreshers ($12); 5 cocktails ($12) and 4 frozen (prices vary). All are signature. There's a great wine and beer list, too. My beverage , the Aim-Dog Refresher, was smooth and delicious... Ketel One grapefruit, Fresca and Fresh Victor Cactus Pear and Pom. Yum! Hub went with Yuengling on draft ... no fun. There's three salads, Caesar, chopped and a great looking beet salad; however, on my first visit, I wanted something smaller so I went with the 'pocket' side ($7.00). It portion was right sized and simply prepared with kale, chick peas and grated Parmesan tossed with a lemon dressing. It was too overdressed for me; however, you might find it perfect., especially if you're into kale. There are many starters and selections to share ... On our first visit, hub ordered the Fig & Pig pizza ($17) with prosciutto, Gorgonzola, mozzarella, roasted garlic, bits of fig and peppery arugula with a drizzle of honey. It was good looking and right sized for one, but was neither crispy, nor hot enough (temperature) for his taste, actually for mine , either, as I did get to sample a small piece. There are five different pizzas on the menu so ' za is a serious contender. From my perspective, there is room for improvement. On that same first visit, I ordered the Chorizo and Shrimp burger ($18). Strange combo, huh? It was delicious so I had to have it again which I did, last evening. You'd love it ... an ample portion of chorizo (yum) with several shrimp pressed in, on top, perfectly grilled, topped with melted smoked Gouda, smashed avocado, arugula and harissa aioli. WOW ... just WOW. The roll? I think it was brioche ... delicious, too. The selection comes with several slices of house made pickles and a generous order of fries ... thin, crispy, hot, fresh and oh, so good. Substitutions are available from one of the delicious sounding sides. The succotash was speaking out to me ... maybe, next time. On the second visit, hub went with the burger. Prepared medium as requested, it was right sized and right priced ($14). Topped with onion jam, melted cheddar, house pickles, fast times sauce and arugula, he was pleased. (I can't comment about the sauce as he wasn't in a sharing mood ... lol.) While we generally pass on dessert, I just had to have a slice of the ample-portioned Basque style cheese cake, served with a small cup of warm caramel sauce to dip or drizzle ($8). Since the preparation is crustless, I saved on all those calories ... lol. Light, and aerated, it melted in my mouth ... I dipped and drizzled. I ate way more than my share ... but it was so worth it. Every. Dreamy. Mouthful. Our server, Jimmy, was engaging, seasoned, friendly ... and frankly, made our meal all the more enjoyable. There are many menu selections with options for every taste and preference. I understand that additional menu items, i.e., shrimp and grits, as well as 'specials' are in the works ... even extending hours to include brunch. With an active brunch scene along Coleman/Shem Creek, another option is sure to do well. For some reason, my captioned photos did not post with my review. Find them! The staff were well organized and efficient taking orders, bringing out food and providing the correct bills. The food was prepared quickly, correctly abbd was delicious. LOVED our experience at Ty's! The food was delicious as was the service! We tried a bit of everything and were so happy we did. The crab cakes are a must, all crab here no filler. The shrimp and grits had great flavor and the local shrimp were perfectly cooked. Kids had the ribeye (another must if you're looking for a generous portion of top quality meat), the caesar salad and the OG Pepperoni pizza. All delicious! A couple of friends and I came here for Sunday brunch this past weekend and we were super impressed! The brunch menu has plenty of options with a great variety of classics to unique items, one of my friends is gluten free and there were plenty of options to accommodate for him. The server was also very conscious of telling him about any cross contamination possibilities for any item! My wife who's not much of a seafood fan found this cool little joint for us to have a late dinner. We loved the modern decor with its low light atmosphere, she thought it was very romantic. We opted to eat out on the patio so we could enjoy the late night cooler weather. Our waitress was very friendly and the bar had a wonderful whiskey selection for me to enjoy. We both ordered wood fired pizzas and both were extremely happy. I got the pepperoni with fresh mozzarella, basil, and hot honey. This pizza was topped perfectly, every bite had the right amount of cup and char pepperoni, cheese, basil, and hot honey. I couldn't help but to eat every bite with a smile. I'm not a fan of big chain pizza stores, I'll always choose a small business shop any day. It's places like this that make me thankful for true artisan pizza. We had a large-ish group for brunch this weekend. The servers were a little overwhelmed, so I'm glad that we had a few last-minute cancellations. I split a carafe of mimosas ($15) and hushpuppies ($8) with the table. The hushpuppies were some of the best I have had in SC and will definitely order again. I also ordered the hangover burrito ($15) which was gigantic. I had my leftovers for breakfast AND lunch the next day. I really want to try the donuts, the fried green tomatoes, the burrata, the benny, AND the burger soooo I guess I just have to go back! Even the salads looked good and who has a salad for brunch?! I realized later that I was *vastly* overcharged but I paid cash and was not given a receipt. In splitting the mimosas and the hushpuppies, plus my burrito, my tab should have been $26.50 plus tax. It was $44, which is more than it would have been even if I was charged full price for all three items (should have been $38). I found out that at least one other person in our group was also overcharged. I didn't realize until much later and I don't live nearby, so I have not had a chance to go back - and by now I'm sure there is no record, but it was a bit of a bummer after a great brunch. read more
