I really appreciate the order updates on the day of pick up, and instructions to finding the location. The pick up location was very welcoming and accessible. There were personalized touches such as your name printed on your order, and listed ingredients. The brownies were perfect and filled with chocolate chunks; excellent! The cinnamon rolls are sourdough making them much denser than a yeast cinnamon roll my little ones loved them (the sweet sound of silence while they ate.) The tacos were molten off the plancha, and I could touch them but not hold them for the first couple minutes, so I munched on grilled onions and a fiery serrano while they cooled. I dug into the tamal as well. The pork tamal has bones in it--they clearly roast the whole thing and let that marrow enrich the tamal filling. Delicious. They wrap it in banana leaves and then thin tinfoil before they steam it. The masa got mushy 'cause I drenched it in salsa, but that's on me, and it was still spectacular. The tacos really shone through, too. Huge flavors on the pork, nice fresh onions and cilantro, and plenty of juice in the lime wedge. It's clear that everyone here loves serving good food that they would want to eat themselves. Best of all, I was out the door for 3 items plus a pop for $14. Not many places are running prices like those anymore.

The veggies including broccoli tend to be meh; the reason is that everything is straight from the carton without trimming. No hate, just the facts. That is how they keep the cost low. I go elsewhere for veggie greens (except salad lettuce). As for bulk foods, this area is a treasure trove - great selection, good prices, and tends to have good turnaround so the products are fresh. For this most recent first visit to the Everett location, I finally noticed how they label their 'sale' items. Look for green 'Extra Savings' signs. They don't stand out and are not visually eye-catching. Things are simply there in seemingly extra volume. I scored a liter size bottle of Valentina hot sauce for only $2.68. Starkist tuna cans were on sale for $0.88, lower than the typical grocery store sale of $0.99, plus they had the low sodium version in stock. We bought a case of 24. While I wasn't exactly blown away by the prices on the name-brand items, the WinCo house brand is practically a steal--often half the cost! The real showstopper, however, is the bulk bin section. It takes up at least a quarter of the entire store. You could legitimately get lost in there and start a new life among the quinoa and gummy bears. A word to the wise: WinCo is strictly "Cash or Debit only." I was blissfully unaware of this little quirk until I reached the register, and I narrowly escaped a walk of shame only because I happened to have some cash on me. Consider yourself warned!
