Tyler's Ribs are worth the drive! We left nothing on the bone they were so good. Rich smoke, great crust, unctuous flavor, moist and tender. Three ribs ordered and devoured. We also had the moist brisket which was outstanding. Pork belly was a smash hit with the distinctive smoke flavor and just right sweetness. The sleeper surprise was the house-made black peppercorn and jalapeno cheese sausage. The staff and service is so friendly and patient with our order. The first time we went to Tyler's was in 2018 when they hit the Texas Monthly To 50 BBQ list. We were pleasantly surprised on this second visit. Tyler moved locations in 2019 to a much larger location with ample parking and good seating capacity. We were very comfortable and enjoyed the wonderful memorabilia on the walls. Bonus is the restrooms were very clean. The coolest part of the trip was meeting up with Tyler Frazer again. In 2018, my wife and I finished visting all 50 TM BBQ joints at Tyler's. When Tyler learned that he was so gracious to invite me for a pit tour. He commemorated that trip with a TM BBQ pin that featured several other pit masters from that issue that I proudly still have. This trip, we got there around 9:00am as we drove in from a BBQ run in Lubbock and were worried that we may be fighting the Route 66 100 year anniversary crowd that had taken over Amarillo. Luckily, we beat the crowd. Though Tyler's doesn't open until 11am, Tyler opened the gate for me to rest at the picnic area and we talked for 5+ minutes even though he had a lot of prep work to do before opening. Later on, he came to our table and talked with us and told stories for another 15 minutes. That alone made the whole experience unforgettable. Bottom line, Tyler Frazer is the GOAT, a Texas BBQ rockstar in my book. He is the epitome of Texas BBQ hospitality and a pioneering voice of celebrating Texas BBQ and small businesses. We always look forward to his reels on Instagram as he welcomes the day with a weather report thoughts for the day from Amarillo. My hats off to you Tyler! Keep up the great work. Looking forward to seeing next time.

Our first meal in Texas. Doc our road trip driver found Tyler's bbq on Yelp right after we crossed the Texas State line and called our order in. Hubs said as soon as we got back into the car he would rate it a 5 star and that it was the best meal so far. Doc added the people are so nice. I ordered a sliced brisket sandwich and cole slaw for each of us. What a nice surprise, Doc concocted a sweet tea and iced tea for me. Hubs had his usual, Diet Coke as drinks were included. Doc had 1/4 lb side of brisket with hot sauce. She's so health conscious. Gotta admit their regular bbq sauce was so good. Loved the perfect sweetness of it. Put it on every slice of my sandwich. There are 2 restrooms, one person at a time. The interior is spacious, cool decor and had a station to wrap up your left overs to go. Extremely happy Doc found this place- yum!!! Even their coleslaw.

Chopped brisket sandwich and creamed corn were really good, a tad salty for my taste, but it was offset nicely with the BBQ sauce. My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich and green beans, but I liked the brisket better. For the price it was amazing value!! Service was quick. At 2pm it wasn't busy at all. Cool country decor.

Tyler's always abides. We pass thru Amarillo every year on our way to Arizona. And we always stop for a bite. Except on Sunday and Monday's when they are closed.

Brisket, pork belly, sausage, jalapeño cream corn, beans, and bread.

My in-laws live in Amarillo, so my family and I are usually there at least a couple of times per year. I've been to Goldee's, Interstellar, Panther City, Cattleack, Louie Mueller, Dayne's, Hutchin's, Drew's (newer place in Maypearl - worth checking out!), Evie Mae's, Hurtado, and probably others I can't think of at the moment. I read the Texas Monthly review on Tyler's and decided to check it out. As soon as we approached the building, we were hit with the aroma of Texas bbq. That's always a good sign! The lady who took our order was very friendly and engaging. The atmosphere was good. The building was not overly fancy, but it was very apropriate for a bbq joint. My son and I split the 3 meat plate. We got the brisket, pork belly, and jalapeño cheese sausage. For the sides, we got the jalapeño cream corn and the pinto beans. The brisket had a good flavor. Fairly simple flavor profile, but it was nice. It wasn't as juicy as places like Goldee's or Cattleack, presumably because Tyler's probably doesn't use tallow for the long heated rest. I prefer the use of tallow, but I was still happy with it. It was a good balance of seasoning, smoke, and beef flavor. The pork belly had a nice sweet flavor to complement the smoke. We were also impressed with the sausage. It was rich and flavorful with a little kick. I didn't try the pork ribs, but my nephew was raving about how good they were. The corn was really good. A little more spicy than I expected, but not painfully so. We were the least impressed with the beans, but they were still good. If we had a larger group, I would've loved to try the beef ribs. My overall impression is one of being pleasantly surprised. For some reason, there's just not much of a bbq market in Amarillo. I'm glad we were able to check out Tyler's. I would say it's not as good as my top favorites, but it's better than others. Definitely good enough for us to come back again.

First stop in Texas for our 2025 roadtrip, Tyler's Barbecue! Our last visit we unfortunately passed through on a Monday but this time we got to try our luck! Grateful we did. We sampled a little bit of everything per advice of some friendly customers in line. Why is everyone in Texas so nice??? I love the hospitality that we just don't have the same of in California. While I don't think this is my all time favorite bbq, not a single item menu missed the mark. Everything was tasty and devoured. Plus it was all very affordable in my opinion. Definitely worth a comeback visit.

Brisket, Pork Ribs w/ Cole slaw and potato salad.

Tender Brisket that fell apart immediately and also the pork ribs had flavor. Didn't need bbq sauce but had a bit of it and it was delicious as well. Driving through and Tyler's didn't disappoint. Solid BBQ for sure. One of the best I've had.

Traveling with coworkers and saw this pop up when looking for a lunch spot. This place has a real smokehouse ambiance to it. From placing our order to having it in-front of us took less than 5 minutes, pretty fast service. The highlight of the meal for me was the jalapeño creamed corn, nice heat and very creamy. The ribs were pretty solid, great seasoning and a nice bark. The sliced brisket had good flavor but was honestly a bit dry for us, will probably go with the chopped next time. The sauce selection was also really good. I would recommend kicking it up and going with the spicy one.

Out of town visitor and my first time at Tyler's. As soon as I got out of my vehicle, I could smell the excellence in the air. Staff were very kind and worked efficiently. Brisket and jalapeño sausage were to die for. Their BBQ sauce was sweet and tangy. Highly recommended!

Outstanding BBQ if you're in Amarillo. Loved the ambiance and the counter service was fast. We will be back.

3 meat plate with corn, green beans, potato salad and coleslaw - enough for 2 people

Great food - nice people! We got the three meat plate and added two more sides. The brisket and sausage were great - very flavorful. I would pass on the ribs next time. We loved the sides. The corn, coleslaw, potato salad and green beans were all amazing. You can't go wrong here. They also let you ask for specific parts of the brisket which was nice. We like the leaner portion. The inside is comfortable. Clean and an easy stop off of the highway while traveling.

Sadly, Tyler's didn't live up to the hype for us. We did a little research to find the best bbq restaurant in Amarillo, and it seemed Tyler's was the favorite. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but the meal really missed the mark. The brisket was quite dry, the pulled pork lacked flavor, and the beans were not at all what you would expect from a bbq place. There were a couple of good things too. The pork ribs and smoked turkey were good, and the jalapeño corn was pretty good. Overall, the meal wasn't worth the long wait in line. The restaurant was spacious, so it's a good place for a group or family. We are from out of town, so I doubt we will be back. I just wanted to give some honest feedback for those searching for a place to eat in Amarillo.

From out of state and was recommended Tyler's Barbecue. Walked in and the gentlemen working were awesome and greeted us right away and Extremely friendly. The ribs, chopped and sliced brisket was some of the best I have ever had. Every bite was so flavorful, tender and juicy melt in the mouth. Coleslaw excellent. Potato salad with a little heat and the potatoes were small pieces which made it even better and I grew up in a big German family and some of the best I have ever had. We had the banana pudding and was again amazing. Great spot has indoor and a patio that is dog friendly with misters. If you are ever passing though or staying in Amarillo this is a must.

Today I witnessed God. Not the Jesus on the tired, listing billboard with its rusted iron roots…read morepulled up by the prevalent wind scouring this dusty patch of North Texas but from this innocuous, humble piece of chopped brisket before me that has just changed my reality in a way that will never change back. I am on one of those once-in-a-lifetime walkabouts with my daughter as we hop from asphalt lily pad to lily pad in her beat-up RAV 4, journeying ever Eastward from the gently lapping waves of Santa Barbara to Miami's Solla Salew shores where she will matriculate for her marine mammal masters (The Tripple M they call it in various job posting and loan application sites). Its been triple digit Temperatures for the last 20 hours of driving. A tour of hades realm. I will remember the specific moment today when my wonderful, non-red-meat-eating daughter, in an enduring act of kindness suggested that we go to a bar-b-que during our brief run through the Texas pan-handle as recompense for going to visit her friend in OKC rather than run the southern grill gauntlet through Dallas. I pressed the yelp button and we went down the Amarillo rabbit hole...across some train tracks, around the aforementioned canted "Jesus is here" billboard (but before the better tended "Jesus is Coming" promissory), past two cows too hot to stand, down a lane next to an grain silo, stood a sign. It stated simply but profoundly, "Beer Open" Surviving the sweep of ages, what more is there really in life? Beer? Check. Open? Always on so many levels. As my eyes wandered over to the more traditional homage to this establishment's Nome de guere- "Pork n' Things". I was able to surmise the primary offerings from the initial noun but I was intrigued by the 'n' things' and what they might entail (or perhaps entrail). Girding our loins, we crossed the heavenly air conditioned threshold. Suffice to say, God had not yet made his/her/their/them/they appearance and it wasn't until after we ordered our sweet tea/lemonade that I made the decision that changed my life. I asked for some of the brisket (my choice was chopped) and some of the ribs I saw walking out the door with a Harley driver into the teeth of that Texas summer furnace heat. We sat idly, my daughter pondering her phone and striking up a conversation with a shy, angelic little girl who had bravely helped her mom set the table for us and shared her Lilo and stich drawing. It was at this moment that my world tilted. I figured that I would go for the brisket first as an appetizer to the main course of ribs. They had chopped it finely and I sporked half of it into my mouth. Epiphany. So many images colliding at once, each visually shouting over the other to be heard... To be RECOGNIZED. I remember a childhood national geographic where the Eskimo dad offered the still pumping seal heart to his son as he bit down and the blood flowed. I thought of Jody Foster trans-warping to another dimension mumbling "I didn't know! I didn't know! at the grandeur of the cosmos. I thought of the show 'Chopped' where they lectured recalcitrant chefs on not just making a meal but rather transforming it...elevating it to some other plane of being. That first bite punched though my mortal coil like a coherent beam of light from a collapsing neutron star raising my orbit to a plane of being I did not know existed. Stripping away layers of civilization, I felt primal and powerful. Like Dungeon Crawler Carl, I had been converted...elevated to something greater than my constituent bits. Part dire wolf, part berserker, part 90th level undead necromancing mage. The fat and smoked meat sat in my mouth, my brain shutting down my throat muscles not wanting this oral carnality to end. Imagine stripping away every vestige of civilization, de-evolving a million years when survival and procreation were equal partners in a race to the future. My body was humming and I felt alive in a way that I had not since that weekend in Tiajuana with those carny workers. I had a brief moment of panic that my newfound vigor would cause me to spontaneously combust or that this magical alchemy would somehow bind with the brisket and miraculously impregnate a wandering waitress out of sheer will...like the reproductive equivalent of magnetic induction such was the primordial essence of that single bite. But I digress. Suffice to say, I am a California lifer. I can tell you what cheese is on a charcuterie board and whether the uni is fresh but I don't have sufficient reference for what is considered presentable bar-b-que. My data set is certainly sparse but in my humble, untrained opinion, if you need a reference point...a place to start your own bar-b-que walkabout, Amarillo's Pork n' Things is a guiding star to what brisket and pork ribs can be in the hands of a master truly anointed, perhaps divinely, in their craft.

You order food at the register and then sit down, so when you order a dessert, they can put a little note to serve it to you at the end. Speaking of dessert, that pecan cobbler ala mode smacks! The perfect ending to a delicious meal. The meat is so tender and falls off the bone. You don't need a knife to cut anything. A plastic knife will do the job easily. They say the brisket is the star of the show and I can attest to that. However, the turkey is the runner up. I don't know what they do to that Turkey, but my husband and I might have to grab more to take home with us tomorrow. They were so nice too because we ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs and they ran out, so we got the last of the ribs. The also doubled all our meats! We wound up getting 1/2 a lb of turkey and 1 lb of brisket! We are going to be eating some good sandwiches for the next few days. We definitely plan on coming back the next time we are in Amarillo. If you're in the area, definitely come in and grab a bite! They also have plenty of choices in beer too.
