A Wonderful Step Back in Time The first time I visited this place, my daughter was about 9 years old. Over the years, I have returned quite a few times, and each visit has been a little different because I have intentionally brought different people here to experience that wonderful "back in time" feeling. I recently visited again with another group, and I felt it was definitely worth sharing my experience. If you are new to Tyme for Tea& Co, whether you make a reservation or walk in, I recommend coming with an open mind and, most importantly, with time to enjoy the experience. We had a reservation and still had to wait a few minutes, but honestly, that was perfectly fine. It gave us an opportunity to look around and admire the beautiful tea saucers, teapots, and other cute, whimsical items for sale. Over the years, I have learned that coming here rushed and expecting everything to arrive at once is not really the best way to experience Tyme for Tea. Tea is a social experience, and the food and tea are served gradually, giving you time to enjoy each part of the experience while visiting and laughing with your party. The staff is attentive and welcoming, but they also give you the space to socialize without making you feel rushed. I really appreciate that. If you are visiting Niles in Fremont, keep in mind that part of the beauty of this little town is its history. The buildings are not modern, but that is exactly what gives Niles its charm and character. The atmosphere is part of the experience. Every time I visit, my overall experience is pleasant, calm, and filled with laughter. I enjoy trying the different teas, pastries, and little treats, but more than anything, I enjoy the memories created here with the people I bring along. If you're looking for a place to slow down, socialize, enjoy tea, and step away from the rush of everyday life, Tyme for Tea is definitely worth experiencing. Dress up for fun! Probably more of a 3.5, feeling generous to round up. My friend hosted a baby shower at Tyme For Tea and invited 14 guests. I believe the orginal request was for 11 people, they quickly brought in additional chairs to get everyone situated. My understanding was that each guest chooses the tea flavor. However, that wasn't the case. The staff brought 2 random flavors. Later on, I requested a specific flavor and she did bring a pot of it. The pace of the food was good, evenly paced and staggered. My favorites included the savory puffs and the raspberry chocolate cheesecake bites. It was a full house on this particular Saturday afternoon and I think the staff did the best they could. Even though we had a reservation, the place was almost empty, and the cashier was literally just standing there. Somehow we still had to wait 15 minutes for one of the two servers to seat us because they were busy with the only two customers inside. It honestly felt like they were thinking, "Why are you here?" I get that they were going for a unique, vintage, antique vibe, but it was honestly so ugly. I don't know how they managed to make the décor look this bad. The pink tablecloths looked like something from a cheap wedding hall, and the whole place just felt random. There were spider webs everywhere, and nothing looked cared for. The snacks were just as disappointing burnt, dry, greasy, and not tasty at all. We just didn't enjoy it. Mother's Day treat! They opened a little late and then the groups waited a bit to be seated. Nice service. The place is cute and nostalgic. Special menu today. Spiced peach tea, the spice definitely overpowered the peach. Started out with the most delicious strawberry scone that was so soft on the inside and flakey in the outside. Cooked perfectly and served with strawberry and whipped creams. This was the absolute best part of the meal. Champagne with juice was tasty. Tiered tray had strawberry cucumber tea sandwiches, Brie and honey butter pastry bites, egg salad pastry cups, chicken salad sandwiches on croissants, and Fran bread! My first experience having a three-course high tea! I visited Tyme For Tea & Co for a friend's birthday and was pleasantly surprised by how beautifully decorated the inside was. We started with Pumpkin Spice and Chai tea. Out of the two, most of us preferred the Chai. The Pumpkin Spice tea tasted more like cinnamon than anything else. We also tried the "Cauldron Witches Blood" sparkling cider, made with berry syrup. It was good, but definitely on the sweeter side. For the small bites, my favorite was the Turkey Jack Slider. It was simple but packed with flavor from the Dijon mustard. The turkey and pepper jack cheese on the soft slider buns were delicious, and the portions overall left me extremely full and content. I love having afternoon tea. My friend and I came here for tea for our catch up. Emailed a week earlier to make reservations. They opened shortly after 11am. There is a big room filed with cute tables. There is ONE unisex bathroom and the flush kind of works. We were given two teas - we didn't get to pick our teas. Everything was so good!! Tyme for Tea is located in Niles Fremont. There are plenty of free parking whether it's street parking or at the plaza parking lot across the street. I was able to book my reservation for afternoon tea via email where I provided my name, date and time, and how many people and I got a confirmation pretty fast! Staff were super nice, we were greeted immediately. We were the second group to arrive so we were able to pick our seating. But it was pretty much empty on a Saturday at 11am. I think one other person came after us. They immediately brought out two teas for us to try. I can't remember what the blends were, but I remember one having kiwi and the other one having cinnamon. The kiwi one was my favorite out of the two. The scones came out first and I absolutely loved it. It was made fresh. And the cream and apricot cream thing was delicious! This definitely had to be one of my top four things I ate here. Then we picked our teas which were spiced apple, spiced peach, and the strawberry one. The spiced peach was the one that I chose and I loved it until I tried the strawberry one. I am a simple girl and I typically drink jasmine tea but I thought I would expand my horizon by drinking fruit teas and the strawberry one was such a surprise. It very much had a strawberry taste, and it was naturally sweet without having to add any sugar. This had to be my favorite tea out of the five that I tried. Our tier came out and on the top we had cucumber sandwiches, the middle we had some sort of spinach pastry and something with mushrooms in it. The bottom tier had some sort of cheese bread and I believe a chicken salad sandwich. Everything was served fresh and hot except for the sandwiches. As someone who does not like mushrooms, I thought that pastry thing was actually pretty good as well as the spinach pastry and the cheese bread. I am not a a fan of cucumbers, so I thought it tasted okay but I did enjoy the chicken salad sandwich. Lastly, desserts, we had shortbread, a blueberry chocolate cup, and these little cake things. They were all a surprise to me and pretty good. I didn't realize how soft the shortbread was going to be. As someone who is not the biggest fan of dark chocolate, I thought the blueberry, cream, chocolate cup blended very well with each other. And out of the 3 cubed cakes, I got the one with red velvet inside, which is my all time favorite. I think the other two were chocolate and carrot cake. I wish I paid a little more attention when the staff was telling us what was what. I could see how this could be an issue for some people, but I loved that the staff let us enjoy ourselves. We didn't really need them to check up on us because we were chatting our ears off. I also love that they provide the cost on their website which includes tax and a service charge so we knew exactly how much we were going to be billed and was not surprised when we got the bill. Visited Tyme for Tea for the first time this holiday season. The minute you step foot inside, you're welcomed with cozy, charming, and festive vibes. The business is both a tea room and shop with tea ware, decor, vintage clothes, and other items for sale. Reservations are a must and my family was seated promptly at 1:30pm. The menu has two tea options and we each opted for Victorian tea. They present the scone first on a separate plate rather than on the tiered tray. The scone was delicious nonetheless, served warm and with three spreads: cream, lemon curd, and a seasonal maple butter which was a standout. The sandwiches were tasty and also served warm, with unique offerings like a cheese melt and mini quiche. My favorite was a cheese puff pastry item. The cucumber cream cheese sandwich was slightly hard to the bite (possibly overripe), but still tasty. The tea menu listed all flavor profiles and decaf options which I appreciated. I ordered a decaf blackberry sage English breakfast which went well with the scone and desserts (fudge, snow cookie, petit four). I enjoyed the warm scones the most, and the savory items second. This is one of the best value afternoon tea services I've found in the Bay Area for the price. Service was well paced and all parties were well situated so that everyone had their own corner. They even had a pile of a tea party hats to choose from towards the back wall. Overall, I would highly recommend Tyme for Tea and it's my favorite tea room I've tried in the East Bay. Came here with some friends to celebrate a birthday. The place was so nicely decorated with Christmas decorations everywhere. For drinks, we were able to choose champagne or cider. We chose cider which was pretty good. The two teas that they served us were Gingerbread and Christmas. I enjoyed both teas, but kind of favored the Gingerbread one more. They had a nice selection of sandwiches, savories, and dessert. All of them were yummy. At the end they were handing out take out boxes for anyone who didn't finish. (But we finished all of ours!) Also at the end, they played, "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and Santa Claus came to each table and handed out candy canes to each person. That was a nice, festive added touch. My boyfriend's first high tea experience was here! He told me how he wanted to visit the Niles area because his coworker recommended for him to visit. I've been to Niles before a few times in the past with friends, and it's a old timey little town area full of vintage stores I remembered. He saw that they have a high tea place so we went there around 12:40pm. We didn't have reservation, but the host said that we can be seated with 1:00pm. There was only 1 or 2 tables of people at the time in that place. My bf and I browsed around their store and checked out the neat trinkets. Then we were seated. They didn't give us any menus and just brought two pots of teas for us to have. I asked him can we not select our teas, and he said that we can, but to try these and if we don't like them then I can select another. He left us with two different tea pots, which I don't really remember what exact flavors they were as this was back in June. I think one was a sort of fruity tea while another has a bit more spice to it. When the server came back, I told him that I wanted to get the Lavendar Dreams tea as I had my eye on that one of all the flavor of teas they offer. It took them awhile to bring me my pot of tea because they forgot about it, and we asked about it when one of the servers while by. I liked the Lavendar Dreams tea, but I usually prefer rose flavor tea whenever I go to high tea places. I still didn't like how they didn't give us a menu initially to let us a pick our teas. My boyfriend ended sticking with one of the teas that they gave us. He said that he's okay with the sort of fruity one. They brought out the tray with the food, which I didn't like the tray because it's not the iconic layout with each layer tier. The bottom two layers are just on the same level while with one high tier. The sandwiches were pretty good so was the scone. I didn't like the pastries because it was either too sweet or has an off-taste about it. The place is very vintage style and reminding me of Victorian,which their tea set is called "Victorian Tea." Very fitting. I like the tub of vintage hats and fascinators (just learn that word recently from the Floor show! Lol). So cute! Great for putting on for photos. Pricing was $45 which is not bad. Other places that I've been to were about $65 per person, but better quality so I get the price difference. Charming place for afternoon tea. I went with my husband. We were started with two pots of tea - caramel and a fruity tea. You don't get to choose your own tea. Milk is available to add to your teacup if desired. Then we were each given our own scone. This was delicious and my favorite of the whole meal. Then the main course came out- there were two cold sandwiches and three hot "sandwiches". The cold sandwiches were cucumber and dill/chicken salad. The hot items were savory pastries- cheese and mushroom, some kind of spinach tart, and a cheese on toast type of thing. All were good; my husband and I enjoyed the hot items more, but I have to say that we did not expect hot items at an afternoon tea place. The other tea places we tried were just finger sandwiches. Then a plate of the desserts came out - a shortbread type if cookie, 2 small pieces of cake, and a chocolate mousse tart. All were good also but nothing too memorable. Although the shop interior is spacious and charming, and the service was pleasant, we were ultimately disappointed with our experience, especially for the high price. We did not get to choose our tea even though the website said we could. The tea was also just okay - not offensive but not very flavorful or distinctive. What a pleasant surprise. I never knew this place much less Niles area of Fremont existed. Came here via a Cupertino Senior Center Trip where we had tea here at Tyme for Tea and then road the Niles Canyon Train of Lights. This is a cute tea place within a little antique store. They had the cutest things so you can shop before or after your tea. Let's start with the tea and the whole tea time experience. We were seated right away with cute little tea cups at each place. We were then provided with two teas - one was the house special - something with strawberry and the second was orange and cinnamon tea. Both were great. We had someone in the group that wanted decaf and got the decaf Earl Grey. Was nice they can accommodate. We started with the pumpkin scone and that was a HUGE HIT - it was how scones are supposed to be - not dense but light and had the perfect pumpkin flavor. Reminded me of the scones I had at high tea at the Empress in Victoria, BC. The savory sandwiches were delicious. I can't remember what the hot little tart was but that was a delicious bite. I've been going here every holiday for almost 10 years! It started with just around Christmas time. My mom and my nana are obsessed with vintage vibes so we came here. I would like to say they definitely "fell off". The portion sizes have decreased by a LOT. I have never been to weekend tea so this is my experience based on my past Christmas teas/halloween teas. The scones are AMAZING. When we went yesterday we had no clue we could do this but we ordered 4 scones and butter for takeout. Unfortunately they were way overpriced, about $5 for each when they're a little smaller than a fist. The tea itself is super good with some sugar I love the Christmas teas. A lot of people reviewing have complained about them picking tea for you but I think it's nice that they get you started like that, not overwhelming you with choices and you can definitely ask to order another one when you're ready. The staff are pretty nice and accommodating but usually forget a drink or a plate or a napkin, something like that. The main course is pretty good too. My favorite are the chicken salad sandwiches but everything is pretty much close to perfection. I don't love how they only provide one sandwich for each person. I like other sandwiches than others and I would like to get a little more than three bites out of a sandwich for how much I'm paying. The dessert is pretty good I LOVE their wedding cookies but again, they only give us one for each person. They also served fudge but I don't eat fudge as it is a little too much for me so I only had a cookie and little cake (too sweet) as dessert. We ended up with a Pear tea and a Strawberry Kiwi tea, the former of which I liked a lot but the latter of which I did not. In case you are not generally a fan of fruit teas, be aware of this limitation. I am not sure if the tea selections change over time, but regardless we did not have a choice. Additionally, the food was not the best - fine, yes, but could have been fresher bread and slightly larger portions in my opinion. I made reservations the week before Valentine's Day and was super happy they had availability, as most of the time we forget to plan ahead. We were there first, right when they opened and the place was dead empty for a while, which seemed kind of sad. But eventually more tables filled up, which was nice to see, and made the place feel more festive. The service was fine, the girl answered all our questions about the menu since this was our first time having high tea anywhere! We ordered the menu option with the most stuff including a glass of champagne. We all 3 loved the tea we had, and the champagne. The scone with creme fraiche and raspberry butter was probably the best scone I've ever tried. We came here for my sister's birthday and had a great time. The staff was very nice and accommodating, especially since I was pregnant at the time. The bathroom is very clean. The high tea was amazing with two different types of tea, different kinds of sandwiches and sweets. We got to enjoy our service on china. I like that they have cute hats available to wear. As much as I loved the tea service, it's the shop that sells me. They have the most beautiful tea sets (I came home with a pink one that has butterflies with it). Explore the Essanay Silent Film Museum a 1/2 block away, visit antique shops on Niles Boulevard, walk the historic district of homes built in the 1910s and have a wonderful lunch with generous servings and tasty treats. Tucked in the heart of the old town, Niles, in Fremont, you'll find this quaint little tea house showcasing some of the most fine tea sets while serving a fun high tea experience. Located just across the old railroad parking lot which typically has an abundance of spots and is free to the public, you'll find Tyme for Tea. Enter and walk past the beautiful display of teapots, cups, dishes, and other ceramic goodies and you'll find the dining area. You'll need reservations so be sure to call ahead. Once you're checked in, you'll be seated in the dining room filled with decorations (we went during the month of October and this place was decked out with spooky Halloween props). Soak in the atmosphere as you peruse through the menu. The menu is quite simple. There are three sets: the one with the champagne, the one with the scone, and the lighter one with fruit. For most, you'll likely get the one with the scone, AKA the "Victorian". Each set comes with a choice of tea which will have its options fully outlined within the menu (there is a whole page dedicated to the different tea choices). Your choice of tea will depend on your flavor preference. There are caffeinated and decaffeinated options but naturally, there are more choices with the caffeinated teas. Depending on the flavor profile you're going for, you can choose something dark like an English Breakfast or Earl Grey, perhaps a tea with fruity notes, and even some that smell like chocolate. Whatever you choose, you'll get a whole pot of it which should amount to about 4-5 full cups. Also coming with each set are the sandwiches and pastries. Our meal included cucumber sandwiches, tuna sandwiches, a cheesy bread, a cheesy shell, and an artichoke swirl pastry. It was a good mix of hot and cold snacks which all amounted to a pretty decent lunch. Even if it doesn't, you will still get a good fill from the tea and the pleasant time you share in the tea house. TEA English breakfast - classic tea with a dark strong flavor. Belgian chocolate - chocolatey aroma was interesting! Never have I ever had a tea that smelled like chocolate. Honey jackfruit - fruity and refreshing. A bit too sweet for me. APPETIZER Scone with crème fraîche, raspberry preserves, and lemon curd - this was fun and worth the upgrade to Victorian. Tuna sandwich - hearty tuna salad encased in sliced wheat bread. Artichoke swirl - nice crisp to the one bite morsel and packed with flavor. Should be eaten while it's warm! Cheese bread - melty cheese on bread should definitely be eaten soon after serving! Cheesy spinach shell - good bite sized crisp filled with cheese and spinach mixture. Again, eat while it's warm! DESSERT Cheesecake - decadent and smooth topped with crushed nuts. Delicious! Shortbread cookie - big, crispy on the edges and moist on the inside. Cake bites - assorted and very cute! This review is from my wife who she went with 2 of her girlfriends: Reservations were easy. But you just have to plan ahead and know that they don't open Monday and Tuesdays. We were immediately greeted when we walked in. The shop inside is cute with many trinkets, ceramics, tea sets and of course tea for sale. We had a great time overall enjoying our tea. But I just feel that though you are here for the "experience," it's quite pricey for the amount of food you get. Some even tasted like frozen items that they just stuck in the air fryer. The scone was best thing. Everything else was meh. I would also not coming during lunch. We made the mistake of coming for a late lunch at 1:30pm which was their last seating time, boy we were so hungry after! But it's also odd that they aren't open for the non-lunch hours. read more

Such a delightful experience. The scone was nice and warm and was brought to us almost immediately upon sitting. The lemon curd was deliciously addicting. There were also a few other warm appetizers served, my favorite being the warm artichoke and spiniach dip puff pastry. Some other items included a crositini with sort of a jalapeno cheese spread on top, chicken salad tea sandwich, and warm quiche bite. My least favorite was surprisingly the cucumber sandwich, that seemed to be a bit dry and used more butter than cream cheese? I was so full I did not try the dessert but it included a shortbread cookie, a chocolate mousse whipped bite and another chocolate bite. The servers were very attentive however, the tea itself was just fine but I could have just not tried one that wowed me. My friend and I ordered 'Grand Sparkling Victorian Tea' which included a glass of champagne ( you can choose peach, mimosa or Bellini), warm scone, 5 sandwiched completed with 3 sweets. I thought I wouldn't be full but well I was so wrong, I couldn't even start the last course There were so many kinds of tea which I chose Darjeeling. It was served in a pot which was so strong but don't worry.... You can ask for more hot water They set up many spots for customers to take pictures which was fun. Decoration was really nice but I felt like if everything matched(for example tea pot and cup, utensils, table&chairs) , it would have been much more elegant. It's been about four years since I last dined at Tyme for Tea and there are definite changes. The savory second course tea sandwiches are still the same though. I made a reservation for 1:30pm on a Saturday. They have either 11:30am or 1:30pm seatings. Weekends have a fixed menu of Victorian Tea with 2 hot teas: Elderberry and Tyme for Tea blend. I believe the latter is a black tea, but wasn't sure about the berry. I was hoping each member of our party would be able to choose their own tea, but I did enjoy the house blend. They asked if we wanted milk, and sugar packets are available on the table. Most likely due to Covid precautions, they no longer have exposed sugar cubes and fabric napkins in fancy napkin holders. *Order a glass or bottle of peach champagne for an extra fee. We arrived 10 minutes late and as soon as we sat down, scones and teapots were immediately brought over to our table. Each plate had a scone triangle with dollops of creme fraiche, lemon curd, and raspberry preserves. I think the scone we had was fig. While we waited on our fourth guest, the savory course arrived 15-20 minutes later. Note that they do not ask about dietary restrictions. Two of my friends are vegetarian and we did not inform them, so four pecan chicken salad sandwiches were part of the savories. The menu online also mentions the course is not vegetarian. If you were to ask nicely, it's possible they can replace the non-veggie option. Tax & tip are already included in weekend pricing: $53.40/person. While service was actually very polite, it just felt rushed. They were nice in letting us know of their closure around 3:20pm. We had time after to take photos with the floral and lit up backdrop, plus shop around their antiques and tea sets.
