The perfect Saturday. I came to Palo Alto for an impromptu solo weekend getaway. This place was steps from my hotel. I love tea and have never done a "high tea" so I thought, this is the place to finally do it! Service was supreme! I asked her name, I believe she said Collie? I hope I got that right. She was very sweet and enthusiastic. The bites were delicious. The mushroom and spinach soup was my favorite though. I'm also not a fan of macaroons, but I could have eaten two more of the apple one I received. I'm slightly sad that there are 125 teas and I only got to choose one. It made choosing quite overwhelming and I'm happy I arrived a little before my reservation to take time to smell them and choose. A friend organized a lunch "Tea Time" to celebrate her birthday early with the work ladies. In order to save time, she had us look at the menu before and she pre-ordered our choices. There was 7 of us and 4 of us pre-ordered and the rest ordered when they arrived. Weird that those that ordered there got their food earlier than us. Patience is key here....we didn't get the food until 50 minutes after we have arrived. Unfortunately, most of us had to leave to return back to work so we just had a short time to enjoy our sandwiches and our scones. I got the cinnamon scone and one each of the following sandwiches: cucumber/cream cheese, chicken salad and avocado/hummus. There was also some fresh fruit on our tiered tray...the fruit was really fresh. The best part of my meal was the scone.....the flavor was wonderful! I had a great time because I was in great company and this place was definitely an experience. Its cute! We were seated outside, so I didn't see the inside seating area. Our tables had tablecloths, but one of my friends said that she had been there before and also seated outside and the tables were bare. Service was friendly. This place was a lot smaller than I thought it was going to be! My friend and I got the High Tea service. Our server brought out three plates, each with special tea blend leaves on them, just so we could see and select which we liked. It was fun to get a look at the leaves and smell them. They had no problem with my friend selecting a different tea from their (quite large) selection. To start, there were little quiches and spanakopitas that were pretty good. Also a small kale salad, but the dressing was sort of strange and tasted mostly like peanut butter. The sandwiches were fine? One of them had some large pieces of sundried tomato on top that felt awkward to eat. Overall, this place has a cute, relaxed atmosphere. My husband surprised me for my birthday and took me here for high tea. The place is small but decorated very nicely. Chairs were comfy. We decided on the Queens High Tea menu which already included specific tea pairings. The owner personally came out to explain each of the items on the menu which we appreciated very much! Let me preface this, I've visited Tea Time a few years ago with an outing with friends. I'm quite pleased to know that they are still in business. So I've reached out to the owner via email to book a reservation for my mom and I. It was her 76th birthday and her wish was to have afternoon high tea with me instead of gifting her something. She loved having afternoon high tea when she was at Raffles in Singapore and a few times while she was in London a couple of years ago. I've had afternoon high tea in Union Square at Nieman Marcus, Sir Francis Drake Hotel in SF and Four Seasons in NY; this is not our first rodeo! So, this was a treat for us! I was thrilled when Tim, the owner, called me back and we booked a table for two inside. I reserved and pre-ordered the High Tea packages. Last Saturday, we found parking nearby and we were the only ones dining in since it was an 11:00 am rsvp. We met with the owner and had a wonderful chat about his origins. They make their food offerings in-house. Everything tasted fresh. Amongst the three teapots they served us, we both loved the Ceylon and the Lychee blend teas. The savories were delicious and by far, our favorite. I think that's what we'll order for next time! I loved their brie, pesto and fig along with the smoked salmon, caper and dill tea sandwiches the best. The whole meal filled us up. We are part-grazers, so we love snacks and this was the best type of serving. I appreciate the fresh berries and fruit plate which came with tea cakes and cream puffs. But by then, we were feeling pretty full. You DO need to contact the owner by email to reserve seating and food/tea packages; the contact information is located on their website. I took my parents to Tea Time for Mother's Day weekend, and it was a pretty pleasant afternoon. The cozy vibe, with shelves filled with adorable tea cups and pots, set the perfect scene for the Mother's Day themed high tea. We started off with three teas: Peach Rooibos, Sencha Guava Mango, and Black Currant Ceylon. Our top pick was the Rooibos. They came with the typical three-tiered plating of foods!! We hit a couple of bumps during our visit, like initially missing the Salmon with Capers sandwich. But when we asked, the staff quickly fixed us up, though I'm still confused about why that happened in the first place. Another thing we noticed was another table got their food before us, even though they arrived later. We were so into the Rooibos tea that we asked for a refill of hot water (which was free), but just a heads up, refilling the tea itself costs extra. The teas were nice and I loved the have adorable tea cups and teapots and they come in the cutest "pot warmers". I went for the Queen's tea special and didn't think $65 was too much (considering I paid something similar in London in the several tea places I went to).. However, I was a bit disappointed on the quality of the food provided. They start with a soup which was a new thing. The food wasn't "bad", but everything seemed store bought, the savory tea sandwiches were really small and didn't seem fresh. I recognized every Trader Joe's item from the cheese squares, from the samosas and egg salad and I think it robbed from the experience. The owner did say he made his own clotted cream which wasn't bad and was very light. I guess the place is really small and lacks a proper kitchen but it really didn't measure up to what I've expected as far as afternoon tea places.. I will find out if this is an option.) *tea sandwiches: beautifully crafted. *winter solstice herbal tea: fantastic! *nice green tea Our group of four got the queen high tea--only option in December. If I go again, I'd opt for a different month and just get the tea, soup, and sandwiches. Potentially scones, but I'd need to see them first. The salad: Excellent dressing, little salad. Many customers might not want salad, but I would've had an entire bowl of it. Scones: *quality control issue. Three were the same size and one was smaller (I took the smaller one). I would not let different sized baked goods go out *Initially I thought the cranberry scones were chocolate chip as they were over-baked. You can get away with hard scones as one can dip in tea or let the clotted cream soften them a little, but I would be more more cautious. I prefer scones that are good on their own and clotted cream is a choice rather than a must. Tea: *loved that we were given plates with what the three teas looked like and smelled like. I would be more likely to buy loose tea because of this. *When the black tea came, we weren't offered a way to pour out our green tea if we hand't finished. Offering a fresh cup for each new tea is an option, but that creates more washing and more of an environmental impact. More assistance for the tea transitions would be ideal. *the winter solstice herbal tea was fantastic. We needed to head out, but I plan to buy the herbal variety the next time I'm near. Desserts: Good. *eclair: chocolate and pate choux were good but almost no cream inside. *Tiny terrain: beautiful layers (7 or more) and plated on a tiny square. I did not see the square and wrecked the terrain when I clumsily pulled at it. Confusion: *a small spoon and tea infuser in an organza pouch with a price tag was added to the dish with our bill. We didn't know if it was complimentary or if it would be added to bill later (it was my friend's birthday). Maybe remove the price tag if it's complimentary? Nice quality with a cute little spoon. Tip: We didn't know until the end that it was added automatically. If no tip was added, I would've tipped the minimum (15% on the nose) as the service was limited to bringing items out. No checking back. A little attention makes customers feel considered and cared about. I'm more likely to return to places where wait staff checks back in an authentic way. The owner/manager is fantastic, knowledgeable, and very service oriented. He came near the end and his friendliness made me want to return. Not sure if I would book again if not for him. read more

It's a bit odd that they don't use an online res system. Once we arrived, we were able to each choose a tea and then waited for the monthly special afternoon tea we ordered which is their largest set. It started off with a small tomato soup with savory accompaniments. This was pretty good to start. The actual tiered set came shortly after with mini sandwiches (turkey cranberry, smoked salmon cream cheese, egg salad), scone with clotted cream and lemon curd, cheese slices, and mini desserts. Overall the food was just ok and felt very packaged. The savory sandwiches in general were pretty good but lacked flavor. The scone was a bit dry and didn't taste very fresh. The worst were the sweet bites which tasted like they were from a supermarket and cheese slices that looked the same as the slices you buy in bulk at the grocery store. 1/28/23 - My partner and I went here so that he could experience his first afternoon tea and we both really enjoyed how delicious the teas were with and without the milk and sugar cubes! I'm not kidding when I say EVERY tier of the afternoon tea set was delicious. That's hard for me to say as I usually only prefer one tier. The staff were friendly and helped me look through the wide selection of teas that you could choose from. We chose to sit outside, as the day was nice and it made us feel like fancy couple ! Really enjoyed coming here. It's tiny inside but during the summer they have an outdoor patio which is perfect. The food was AMAZING. I love they came out with three tea options to switch back and forth from. Service was on point. I love the different style/patterned tea cups. Came with some gfs to catch up with. I loved having the queen's high tea to celebrate my friend's birthday. From a wonderful tomato soup and hot savory appetizers to the variety of tea sandwiches and homemade scones with lemon curd and clotted cream to the tiny desserts. Each course was served with a separate tea balancing out the flavors. Although the high tea was expensive it was well worth it with the special care put into the preparation. We went to Tea Time for a holiday celebration with family. The food was delicious and they had an amazing variety of teas. We loved how they gave an introduction of the teas we would be drinking and the history behind them. Everyone there was so nice and super attentive! It was my first time there, so I do want to go back to try some different food and teas, but our first experience there was amazing! read more

Took my wife here for her birthday. It was a big hit! Excellent British Tea service with the little sandwiches, scone, and and mini-desserts. Special note was the assorted mini-savories. Best I have ever had. It was explained to us that the 4 different fillings were inspired by Indian, Chinese, French and the traditional English cuisine. Our server, Nina, was delightful.
