Cute hole in the wall typewriter store. Had to stop in here because I have always loved the charm of a vintage typewriter. This place has them wall to wall. Not only can you purchase one here, they also fix type writers! We had the pleasure of meeting Mark who shared his knowledge about typewriters and stories of his own collection. They also had a corner of vintage books containing type writer pictures and information. A great spot if you're a collector or need your typewriter fixed.

Truly a worthwhile destination for the typewriter collectors and those curious about the wonderful machines. Machines ready to be typed on are within reach and customers are encouraged to try them out. There is a large table in the center of the room making it easy to type until you find a machine you want. The owner is warm and welcoming. The serviced machines are reasonably priced--sure, you could try to track down a machine at a yard sale--but at The Type Space you can find a machine which has been cleaned and serviced. I left the store with new feet for my Corona 4 and a sweet Type Space T-shirt.

We wanted to give our typewriter to our granddaughter it belonged to my wife's father it is a 1934 Royal. We knew it had some issues so we took it to Type Space this was a great decision on our part. Anthony went thru it and listed what needed to be done and the cost we gave him the go ahead to get it working. I have to say I wish I could rate this Company 10 stars but it will get 5 because that is as high as I can do here. Great conversation about the typewriter. We didn't expect this done till after Christmas but got a text and it is ready to be picked up. If you need a typewriter worked on definitely bring it there

I've purchased from Tony several times over the past year. He's sold me lots of rubber feet for machines and just recently a carriage for a Smith Premier 2 (pictured) which I cleaned up. Tony's prices are always reasonable and he ships super fast. It's wonderful to work with Tony and Mark and I recommend them 100% if you're looking for rubber feet, typewriter parts, or are in the area and looking for a machine or a repair job.

    Clean and ready for everything!

I remember Shogun's Gallery on NW 23rd. They relocated to a warehouse as the street gentrified -…read moretheir old spot is a vacant lot. The original family who brought beautiful items from Japan have now largely passed the business to a younger person. I was strolling the neighborhood when a signboard announced an open day. Usually they are by appointment or voice call for entry. If you need their stuff, which you do, make an appointment or voice call for entry. They are on the 3rd floor of a clean warehouse with an elevator. They collect in Japan and ship their own containers. They have household ceramics, some tansu, some beautiful scroll landscape paintings, tools, tables, Japanese clothing, "go boards", sculptures, iron teapots, and more. Northern Japan is akin to Northwest USA and adjacent BC in climate and native culture. The native people in Japan are the Ainu and I visited their cultural center in Japan. Shogun's had on my visit collection of wood sculptures maybe 18-24" by 12" by 12" of bears catching salmon. It's in my pictures. Yes, Northern Japan has salmon! It is an Ainu native food. I have been known to haunt Japanese antique sales in Seattle. Some of the Shogun's items are very, very reasonably priced. I would recommend anyone interested in Japanese antiques, as seen by the photos, to visit by appointment and follow their announcements and other sales channels. The Northwest has a long relationship with Japan, Portland has a long and continuing relationship with Japan. If you want a little antique Japan in your living space or as a gift, Shogun's is a must-visit!
