Jellyfish Cucumber Salad. More delicious than it photographs!
Beth C.

YESSIR!!! I LOVE Tzen Asian Bistro! You absolutely MUST order the Jellyfish Cucumber Salad if you are a fan of chewy sea creatures such as conch and octopus. And the Atlantic Roll is to die for. Usually, I like very simple rolls rather than special rolls, but this one is delicious. I'm not clear on whether this restaurant has new owners or is a rebranding/reopening. Some items seem the same, and I have always loved the restaurant in this specific location. I have never been there to eat in, but I order delivery, which is always prompt. Either way, give Tzen a go. You won't regret it!

$17 for Yang chow rice. Two shrimp, Hartley any other protein and frozen Vegetables. $15 for ribs. Tough, fatty and not so great for the money.

CHIRASHI and TUNA ROLL -- so worth it!!

This is a negative review on the delivery experience. I love the food here. Best sushi in the area. But the guy that delivers scared me. I accidentally left a "$0.05" tip on the app and told him I made a mistake, but that I would be changing it to "$5.00". He started shouting demanding cash. I apologized and let him know I didn't have any, and that I would change it on the app. I closed the door. 10 mins later he was shouting, and banging violently on the door. He eventually left when someone at the restaurant asked him to leave my property. This has been reported to Ridgefield Police. I love the food here, and even though the restaurant was kind enough to help get this driver off the property, I am publishing this review because I feel people should be aware of their delivery guy.

Steamed vegetable dumplings

We were excited to try this place, as an alternative to Tengda. Unfortunately, the food was average to bad. The vegetable dumplings were tasty, star of the show. However, the Szechuan Crispy Shredded Beef was rubbery, literally like dried out shoe leather. There was nothing crispy about it. It was like chewing on rubber bands - just keep chewing and chewing, practically inedible. For $80 (2 appetizers, 1 soup, 2 entrées), they also don't even throw in a bag of crispy noodles. The restaurant was large but empty on a Sunday night, yet seemed busy, with a bunch of takeout bags at the door - maybe because they're the only game in town. We gave it a try, but won't be returning.

Tasty food and great service! I had the Szechuan peppercorn chicken and it was delicious.

1/2 Peking duck

I ordered takeout from the prior restaurant (Haiku) and the new restaurant is better. Menu has more Chinese/dim sum options, and today I tried the 1/2 Peking duck and it was quite good. Came three ways -- with the pancakes, as moo shu style, and in a sushi roll. What a surprise as it is hard to get this dish outside of Manhattan. Would recommend for any day you don't want to cook

Stopped by for a late lunch…read more Open floor. No one was there seated, but it was around 2pm on a Friday. We were led to a table against the wall. Waiter was friendly and gave us some time to make our selections. I chose the egg roll, tangerine beef. Hubby chose the orange chicken. I asked the waiter if the soda came in a can. He said yes. We then waited for our meal. He returned quickly with my soda, in a glass with lots of ice. Not what I expected. But I guess I wasn't specific about my drink order. My egg roll was good. Cut decoratively in half at an angle, piping hot. Our food arrived shortly. Both plates were generous and came with white rice. Cut a portion in small pieces to taste with rice. Tasted so good, burned my tongue a little it was so hot. Ate a bit more, and that's when my mouth started burning up! The dish was a little more spicy than I expected. Tried to eat more, but it was too much for me. My hubby on the other hand was in his glory. He Loves heat. The spiciest the better. He tried mine and said it was just as spicy as his, which he loved. So, I just thought we would take mine home for him to enjoy later. I have to say it was good, before I had to cry uncle. So would definitely have to return for another try and let them know I can't take the spiciness. I did notice that the restaurant was busy with takeout orders. So I guess that's their main business. So I wouldn't say this was a cozy place. But the food is good. Lots of parking outside since they're next to a supermarket and liquor store. There weren't any 'lunch' specials, so this was over $50 with tip. By the way, lots to choose from the menu. I only took pictures of some pages.

I got the Pho with duck, and my wife got the crispy duck dinner. Both dishes were "meh" at best. Below average. As far as service... it was harried and we were only one of two couples eating in this "NOT so cozy" restaurant. We went at 5:30 expecting to wait because it was small and "cozy" and it was Chinese New year. (1) no problem eating in during dinner hours (2) not a stitch of celebratory anything for Chinese New Year.. not even a place mat. No chinese noodles at the table and there was one continuous plain bench and brown tables (no table cloths) on the opposite side aka cafe style and cafeteria style seats. Hardly "cozy" at all. Overall high expectations, below average experience, ambiance and food.

TBH I was hesitant to trying a new spot as all the other competition has been a disappointment…read more This is my FIRST real ramen other than .99 package To my surprise, this was light, delightful, and tasty. We felt as if we were guests inside the owners kitchen. She, wish I knew her name, came out often to the tables to personally and personably ask how our visit was. This is a rarity among most establishments these days. This is what bought up the rankings to five stars tonight. Needless to say, we'll be back;) TIP: cash payments are without taxes ;) TIP: small private street leveled entrance TIP: delivery available I believe thru a 3rd party. Saw many customers walk-in to pick up. Online yes

Overall had a good experience at this new pan-Asian fusion restaurant. The inside ambiance was…read morenice, clean with nice decorations and fresh flowers on each table. My partner and I were seated promptly, and were attended well by our waitress. We went on a very cold evening and both decided to order the spicy malaysian miso ramen along with the peking duck buns to warm ourselves up. Our food came about 15 minutes after ordering, starting with the Peking duck buns which were flavorful and had nice tender meat, though rather small for the price. Our ramen came shortly after-- we loved the coconutty, umami slightly spicy broth which was reminiscent of laksa (I suspect that they Americanized this dish and named it ramen so the Putnam populace would want to try it). The noodles were nicely cooked and not too soft, and the chashu meat went nicely with the dish. Though we enjoyed our meal, for $18 a bowl and charging NYC prices, you are not getting NYC quality or portions. The egg was hard boiled and overdone, and not jammy like a ramen egg should be. The broth was very enjoyable (I personally love laksa and coconut based broths) but could have been better emulsified. I also feel as though the bowl of ramen could have been a little larger given the price point. Another small qualm I have is though our waitress was lovely, she didn't seem to be very familiar with the menu, or with different types of asian food. I know this is a fusion restaurant in Mahopac, but to hear someone say that making the Tonkatsu spicy would basically just be the same as ordering the spicy malaysian miso ramen felt like either the staff isn't familiar with the basic differences between their dishes, or that what is being served is not accurate to the dish it is named after (as Tonkatsu is NOT miso based, nor does it have coconut milk). I would love to see in the future the chef sticking to their cultural cooking without fusion, as Mahopac desperately needs more authentic asian cooking. I really genuinely did have a nice dinner here, and would love to see how this restaurant evolves and succeeds in this space.

My wife loved the udon noodle with tonkotsu broth, instantly declaring it her favorite…read more I had the hand pulled noodles as we don't normally see those around and they were good enough but in retrospect, I prefer the much thicker udon. The service was slow, taking quite a while to take our orders after seating (we were starving) and another while to bring the check (and they brought the wrong one which the quickly replaced). The food, however, was quick to get to the table once ordered. Because my wife enjoyed her dish so much, we are likely to revisit when around Ridgefield. Ambiance was nice with pretty, colorful big paintings on the walls. Place as a whole is small but not claustrophobic.

I really wanted to love this place, but after ordering the regular ramen bowl twice now, I have to skip it moving forward. Both times, the broth was completely unpalatable - overwhelmingly and sickly sweet, rather than savory, rich, and balanced. Traditional ramen broth relies on deep umami and natural flavors, but this tasted heavily artificial and sweet to the point of being inedible. While the "build-your-own-bowl" concept is great and the staff are friendly, the execution on the ramen stock just isn't there. I'd suggest sticking to their stir-fried dishes or traditional Chinese menu items, but unfortunately I've not found them to be much better than the Ramen.
