I had a gorgeous, very large Greek salad with both grape tomatoes and larger Roma, crisp cucumber and green peppers, onion and huge chunks of creamy feta cheese. It was topped with an herb and salt blend that was divine! I also had the honey halloumi and pita - delicious! My husband had their pita sandwich with pork and devoured it. I snagged a piece of the pork and can attest it was flavorful, tender and had a nice crispy char. For the day's specials they had a melon and mint juice that was so fresh tasting and thirst quenching. The server (maybe owner?) was very warm and friendly, even stopping to chat with a neighboring table to express her pleasure at seeing them play backgammon. The menu looked great and I ordered at the counter before grabbing a seat at a table. About five minutes later, an employee brought over my order. I got a pita with pork shoulder marinated overnight with herbs and spices, cooked on a vertical spit and sliced thinly. It was topped on a handmade Greek pita with peeled tomatoes, sliced red onions, parsley, Greek yogurt, smoked paprika. Everything tasted so fresh and I loved the fresh pita. I was excited to try this new fast-casual Greek spot in Chelsea. I had recently had an exquisite halloumi pita in Astoria at Niko's Souvlaki, and the prospect of replicating that more regularly close to my office was quite appealing. Sadly, my hopes were dashed for the most part. While the halloumi sandwich was not terrible, the portion of halloumi was quite minuscule, and the bread was overly chewy. The best part of the dish was the Greek yogurt sauce layered into the sandwich. I did order the spicy tomato dip on the side, but it tasted like a rather unpleasant marinara sauce. Be aware that there are onions on this sandwich (you might want to ask for it without.) My friend had the chicken skewer which he thought was a bit dry but had tasty pita bread with it (and is probably better in a sandwich. ) The Greek Fries are a large portion that two can definitely share but I thought it had a lot of spicy seasoning on it . Stepping inside feels like being transported to a beachside tavern in Cyprus.
