This place has really turned around in the past few months under the new manager, Marissa. The staff is very friendly and engaged, orders are made quickly, and the food and beverages taste great. Employees even come up with their own seasonal smoothies! Past complaints about slow or absent service, lazy bowl assembly, etc. are totally justified because that was also my experience. However, I'm glad to say that the Big Squeezy of today is nothing like that! I highly recommend. read more

I'm a huge fan of fresh cold-pressed juices and Açai bowls, so I was happy to see this juice shop during my first visit to The Crossroads Carmel earlier this year (right before the pandemic hit). My husband and I occasionally make Açai bowls at home, and eat them regularly when we're in Hawaii. They were definitely a regular part of my diet when I lived in Hawaii too! So we tried The Baja Bowl, and while it definitely hit the spot in the moment taste-wise, the texture was pretty icy and unfortunately wasn't anything special compared to other Açai bowls we've had before. We went back another time for a juice, and again it was refreshing and tasty, but nothing special for the price we paid. The store itself is really nice from the outside, and bright and fairly spacious on the inside, but the big laminated menu boards and clutter on the counters make it look more generic and Jamba Juice-y. Plus the abundance of single-use plastic is bothersome and not eco-friendly at all, as other Yelpers have already mentioned. For a company that promotes health, superfoods and natural ingredients, you would think they would be more conscious of their carbon footprint and the health of the planet too. read more

I've given The Big Squeeze multiple chances over the past few weeks, but after today, I won't be back. Every time I've visited, I've had to wait around 20 minutes for service while the employees literally sit on their phones in front of me. Even the owners seem completely indifferent, ignoring customers instead of running their business. Literally not even ever greeting me saying hello. The owner would just play with flowers in the front today and attempt to throw things in a sink. What's even more baffling is that they're never that busy, so I'm not sure why service is so slow and inattentive. To make matters worse, the smoothies are mediocre at best, though I will say the fresh-pressed juices are actually good--too bad the experience of getting one is such a hassle. And to top it all off, they have the audacity to prompt a 15%- 25% tip after providing zero service. No thanks. There are way better juice spots in the area that actually care about their customers. read more

Honestly one of the worst smoothie bowls I've ever had. It was pre frozen in the plastic bowl. The consistency was horrible. It was so icy and the flavor wasn't great either. Not even a pre frozen base was scooped in the bowl, the entire bowl was pre made. This is lazy and the lack of effort really comes through in every aspect. Blended bowls are the best way to make smoothie bowls. The granola was pretty bland as well. They were out of oatmeal, açaí, and almond milk which is pretty much most of the menu and didn't offer any substitutes. Way over priced for what you get. I can't really say much about the place because I just tried one drink which was the spicy lemon ginger drink I believe... it was a decent drink, the drinks are already made which I didn't really like, I thought it would be made in front of me. The one I had was supposed to help with inflammation, metabolism, your bones, energy, etc. I'm not sure if helped with that tbh. I ended up throwing half of it away. Came here on a Monday around 1pm and there were only a few people ahead of us. We ordered a pitaya bowl and the taste the rainbow smoothie. The pitaya bowl (which I thought would be topped with pineapple) was ok - it didn't really taste like pitaya. The base was more like strawberry + a lot of ice which was a little off putting but with the granola, honey, and fruit it was fine. The smoothie was the same, found it to be more ice than fruit and was frankly and little chunky. Also, there was only one person in the store manning the cash register and making everything so it did take about 15-20 mins to get our order (with like 3 people in front of us) but the surrounding area and a few other places had seating so we waited. She was really nice and doing her best given she was alone so nothing against her for the wait! Overall, this place was ok, satisfied the craving but wasn't like over the moon over what we got. read more

Stopped by I'm this small shopping center on the weekend. They have a large selection of drinks. I don't remember the exact name of the drink I got, but it has beets in it. I was impressed with how it didn't smell or taste earthy/beet-like even though the color was very pronounced. Maybe we just ordered the least popular items but our smoothies were just plain bad. Overall aesthetic was cute and fit in the neighborhood it sat in, but the items were not tasty whatsoever. Absolutely the worst smoothie I've ever had and for that price the owner should be ashamed to serve such utter shit that's literally mush in your mouth. If you come here when they open, it'll take a while, but you'll get a satisfactory açaí bowl. Come here after 10:30 and you'll get an over-frozen bowl. If you like that, great. I don't. Service isn't anything to rave about, and as another review mentioned, you'd expect them to be more environmentally friendly with their disposables. Went back for my second visit yesterday only to get two bowls that were half the size of the ones I got on the first visit! Hardly any açaí! Mostly granola on the bottom and huge chucks of fruit on the top. I could have made this and saved $10 each!! What a rip off!! I ordered the banana berry blast thinking it would taste OK because the ingredients were all natural (almond milk, agave) and I have a bit of a sweet tooth but I was honestly shocked at how good it tasted. Pricey but VERY good! I got the muscle up smoothie and it was perfect before a hike in Big Sur. My wife got the purple rain smoothie which was also very tasty. Both smoothies tasted of high quality ingredients and gave us both that extra boost needed for a day of hiking. It certainly helped that my smoothly was loaded with protein and a bit of coffee. I only ever come here for the regular açaí bowl that I absolutely LOVE. I appreciate a nice thick & creamy açaí base with all the yummy toppings it comes with (their honey is miraculous). This is only getting two stars because the drinks actually taste good and there was one nice lady there. Two of the drinks we ordered were not cold at all. Just room temperature...then the last drink we got was a smoothie so they had to make it and asked us to stand outside and wait. The rude lady set the drink on the counter and left it there and didn't even tell us the drink was ready. I had to go back inside and ask. I was standing in the door way and that same lady didn't say excuse me and pushed past me holding a bunch of broken down boxes and hit my dog in the face with them.
